2023-06-01:
Fri:
Worked on the gabi test, I think it's adequate for what he wanted.
Basically just logging in and then putting the machine to sleep to
see what would happen. It came back up fine. Figured it would. I'm
leaving gabi set up someone wanted to do a demo, but remotely? Uh,
don't think that's going to work. But it was supposed to be this
week and she never emailed me again. So do you need this or not
lady?
Worked on the story, no writing, just putting things in order and
finding out how I wanted to go forward. I hope to get the game
finished over the weekend so I can plan out the entire rest of the
story.
Went to the vet, no troubles there.
Went back to work.
Then shopping, the bank is closed until Tuesday, they're getting
ready to open the temporary office for the remodel.
Then saw my parents. Helped cover the sale stuff, they decided to
have a sale.
Came back here. Sites, putting stuff away.
Then did xbox, no game as Neil wasn't available this week.
Sat:
Started taking the PC apart before I left.
Went over to my 10:00. As I expected, nothing too crazy. Looking at
his wife's ancient win7 machine, took a lot of old stuff off of it
like Quicktime for PC yes that's how old it was. Still had VNC on
it, remember those days?
Stopped at Wegmans to get new Oliver medicine. The stuff I had was
recalled.
Got back here, finished up the build, turned it on. It's alive! It
works. Even put my water cooler back on it, after changing the
bracket. It's a little jankie but not too much. How you bolt it to
the motherboard is different you're supposed to use the included
hardware but the MB makes that impossible. I managed to do it, just
in a different way. It's pretty tight so I think it'll cool the
thing just fine. Ate lunch while the files copied. Why does it keep
dropping the drive? Sigh. I tried two different USB ports, but it
still kept just going away and I had to plug it back in and hit
"retry" on the copy. At least it did keep track of where it was?
Still.
Got the data copied. Played some Legacy. So many dead ends in that
game. Ugh. Hit another one. Mission after mission to get bits of
canvas and all we get are memories we've already seen, and a useless
picture as Isidora's painting is already destroyed. I mean, sure, we
see her talking to he goblin about setting up the repository. But
that's not new information, we've already see them. How about her
aruging with herself about giving in to authority and stopping for
now or moving ahead because she believes she's right? That would
make more sense. She claims "its power can be used for even more
good" but that "good" is never specified. What good? How? When?
You're just storing this "byproduct" away instead of using it, why?
The entire thing makes no sense.
Plus Sebastian is running in two tracks, like there's two of him.
He's going after this relic thing, and saying I can cure Anne
myself. But he doesn't wait for me to try and cure Anne, he just
goes ahead with his own plan. It's dumb. So a lot of that has to
change.
Anyway, less load times and smoother frame rates are looking good.
It's funny, I saw as high as 400mb/sec transfer, but a share of sub
1mb too. So dumb.
Cleaned up in case my parents come over.
They did not.
Watched a movie, as it is movie night after all parents or no
parents, or at least part of one.
Sean wanted to do Xbox, so we did a little War Ring. I mean Elden
Frame. I mean warframe. Then Halo 2.
Haven't won it.
Sun:
Did the yard work. Moved a few more tiny berry bushes. This year
looks good, there's tiny flowers already. Come on, bees and moths!
No grass cutting this week. Next week for sure.
Checked sites.
Had lunch, finished the rest of the movie.
Watched another, I was on a roll.
Had dinner.
Got ready for tomorrow, a day off! Yay!
More reading.
Mon:
Finished what I wanted to see in Legacy. Never heard the pump on my
water cooler before. I do now! I added another fan to the case, just
to try and help. I wonder if it's not really rated for that "modern"
a processor? Well I mean it does work, it didn't hang or anything
and I played a fair amount. I just want to keep it as cool as
possible. Heat really does come off the thing. Thanks, intel. No
wonder Apple dropped you, more "modern" processors must be worse
still, I can't imagine how they're kept cool.
Had lunch.
Went back to skyrim for a minute, had to figure the controls out
again. Load times weren't bad, finally. I may go back to it after I
finish River City Girls 2 and FF7 Remake. Not that the load times
were what made me stop, by the way. But I have paid for DLC I never
did in that game, maybe now I can do so.
Did reading, checked sites. This story was started 3 years ago, and
there's a lot of it.
Tues:
No haul. The coolers were empty. Odd. Did they get cleaned out
Friday and the bags were changed? Oh well. The odd thing was, it was
empty when I left too. Like, empty, empty. Anyone looking for food
today went away disappointed. Very odd. Someone got rid of stuff,
but didn't add any new stuff? They lost a whole day of sales? Very
odd.
Had the morning meeting. No Joe meeting, like I said before.
Otherwise not much going on work wise. Still waiting for a lot of
things to come in.
Day went pretty quick otherwise. I got the rest of the Legacy story
laid out.
Then I worked on my optional rules. Sean was nice enough to throw my
old inDesign file into a more recent version of the program and then
save it as an intermediate format, that I could open in Scribus.
There were still problems, so I ended up basically cutting and
pasting things I wanted into a new document. Still saved me a lot of
work. Added the new spells in there.
And then came home. Had dinner, checked sites. No calls.
Did more work on the optional rules. I noticed some errors, like it
switching from Arial to Times partway through. What the heck? Fixed
that all up, which is annoying because when you do that, you lose
bold. Why? Keep bold.
Wed:
Added a few more spells today.
No meetings, but I guess a feature has been ported to the trunk.
There was no action in the backlog for this so I didn't know it was
even a thing. I do now. So I'll do that tomorrow. I plan to use a
machine already set up for it, so it should go quickly.
Finally wrote another chapter in the Legacy saga. Rescued Sebastian
and Archie in typical fashion.
No haul, but the food is back. I got a salad, somehow. A type I've
never seen before. Where did it come from?
Came back here, it's finally getting warm out.
Checked sites, the usual, and did more reading.
Thurs:
Had the usual afternoon meeting.
Got through the D7.8 test after some nonsense. One device gave me a
serial number error despite the other devices I had used for the
test previously still working (to some extent) so it should have
been fine. The second device I tried would not show me the right log
in screen. I checked the third device that I hadn't updated, it
worked fine. So I knew it wasn't the app. Finally found it, the DNS
settings were different. Honestly, the whole thing is so fragile,
one little thing out of place and nothing works.
That took the bulk of the morning, despite the actual test, once it
got started, taking only an hour or so.
Tried to test the weblet that Gina installed, but it was the old
version.
We'll have some test tasks to do next week. Testing a bug and fix,
and something about delegate printing I know nothing about. Should
be great.
Wrote a diary entry for Aerith and part of a chapter. Just the
beginning part, actually.
Came back here, one call, but she had already solved it. I'll have
to do paperwork, all those three jobs I did last month. Hey looks
like I've had fiber internet for 5 whole years. And not one price
increase, spectrum. Neat. And I got the bolt in 2021 in
June so it's been two years with that. It's flown, really. Father's
day.... hummmmmmmmmmm. Any ideas?
Need to get the car inspected, and that recall thing done this
month.
So what's closer to the future. Usual stuff tomorrow, I'll actually
go to the bank this time, they should be open. Shopping, seeing my
parents. We'll see what we can do of the tasks. No game, Stan is not
available.
Then the weekend, normal stuff. I'll cut the front lawn, do any
weeding and moving I need to do. Nothing too big planned. Maybe do
some River City Girls 2, get that closer to finished. I've not been
to every map yet, it seems like a bigger game.
Did more reading, this is a long story.
And that's it. We're in June now. Have to start working on Christmas
gifts!
See you all next week.
