Fri:
Worked with OneDrive, SSO doesn't work. We can't figure out why.
Gives an error message I've never seen before. The guy writing it
had me try a few things, surprise and shock, they didn't work. We're
going to have to look more into it Monday, so I have something to
look forward to.
That was the morning. Not much in the afternoon. I did get a haul.
Pretty good one. Brought most of it to my parents, kept a few things
for this week for myself and I'll bring the breakfast stuff home
Monday to eat.
Straightened up the monitors and such, as we got two more. Ted is
retiring, so we took his monitors before someone else snapped them
up. Finally have one that has HDMI, doesn't help us much as the new
server has display port only but it's a step in the right direction.
Don ordered an adapter with the 3 major ports so it should be fine.
Bank, shopping, saw my family.
Went back for game. Went fine, we found a locket for a ghost and
then were thrown to the wolves in the form of hundreds of ghosts at
a shrine stirring up trouble at a nearby site they want to start
mining operations in. We suspect some sort of manipulation of the
owner of the company but for what end we can't discover. During an
opportune moment Neil broke into the trailer the so called "golden
nugget" is being kept to try and discover what sort of spell has
been put on it, but he's been caught. His character has no combat
skills. To be continued. (And where am I? That's a good question as
I should have been closer but he beat me there? Huh...?)
Sat:
Played some River City Girls 2. Quite self aware, the characters
remark that "sequels are always better" when the girl's mom kicks
them out of the house to go buy a sequel to the game they were
playing. And "we don't say the two part" during the opening song. I
also appreciate as they "level up" they remember their old moves,
you don't have to buy them all.
More Legacy after that, of course. I have too many games to play!
Not that I'm complaining.
Then warfarme. I know, what a waste right? We did achieve 3/4 of
what we set out to do though. Gain relics containing the items we
want, and open those relics loot box style and get the correct item.
We only missed out on one, so we still have work to do. I mean it
wouldn't be warframe otherwise, would it?
Sun:
Started with Legacy, wanted to see if I could customize the controls
a bit, make it more like warframe so I can dodge easier. Nope. Lots
of customization for keyboard and mouse. Absolutely none for
controller. You're just going to have to like it.
Went to my parent's house for tax day.
I put some things in wrong, but a few times going over it before the
final send (I hope) straightened that out. The numbers aren't too
different from last year. The business took a huge hit, they
wouldn't let me skip depreciating the car, which comes out of the
business earnings. Whoops, the business lost $2,000. It was only
$400 last year. And they somehow carried that loss over to this
year? That's not cool. Is it going to carry over again? Will I lose
$4000 next year? But I paid cash for the car, how does it impact me
in the present? These tax laws are very strange.
Watched some videos while I ate dinner, and got ready for tomorrow.
Nine calls? What? Oh, the first 4 was the same guy trying to text me
and so the first 3 where a robotic voice reading his texts to me,
then he called because he rightly believed he was texting a land
line. The last 3 calls were the same guy struggling to tell me his
own phone number. Yes, that's the level, if you will, of person I'm
dealing with. They wouldn't be able to wear a level 5 hat in the
Legacy universe.
So I had "only" four in the end. The first guy can't figure his
camera out after he plugs it in, that's tomorrow. One lady has a
printer with an error code, can't help her. Next guy has a monitor
issue? Hard to say, that's Tuesday. And the last guy just had edge
open not firefox. MS, please, stop messing with people. They can
barely recall a 7 digit number to their own house, they can't handle
their browser suddenly changing.
Did some Ransom 2. Getting back into it. Or maybe my level
improvements are helping but I don't seem to be taking as many hits.
Still pretty funny, I'm enjoying it.
Mon:
Quite busy today. Spent most of the morning going over the test
cases for the log in with cert we're doing for onedrive. They're
adding a bunch of stuff for reasons, so I had to track down the
specs and VBS and put a bunch of new test cases in there.
In the afternoon I loaded a machine with old software for gabi,
which was pointless because it still doesn't work.
Worked with the onedrive guy to try and discover why it won't work
right. We got it almost working right before I left, but there are
still issues. It opens now, but it doesn't remember me so it keeps
asking for the password. It shouldn't.
Got a minor haul, just enough food for, oh, all of this week.
Found the delivered cards, but the second delivery not the ones we
ordered first? Odd.
Whew.
Went to after work job. How can an 80 year old man be a PI? Anyway,
his PC did have an SD card slot so getting the video footage off his
camera was super easy. Not so easy was figuring out how to put a
timecode into the video. Not that it should matter, I can
set any time on the camera so it really proves nothing. But anyway,
his one sony camera wouldn't do it I finally realized. His canon
camera could, so I wrote that set of directions up. Finally got home
at 6:30.
Sites, videos, dinner, had two calls. I don't do printer repair so
seeya, and I helped the other lady over the phone. Still have a job
for tomorrow from the weekend though. Got the fans in too, so I have
to get over there sometime soon. It never ends...
Got ready for bed.
A little bit of RCG2 and then went to bed.
Tues:
Fairly busy again today.
Meetings in the morning. Met with Don about test cases for the
challenge password thing. Wrote up a few, there's no spec or visual
indication of what anything will look like, but they want our test
cases? That's not how any of this works.
The Joe meeting.
Gave the guy access to my D5.6 machine for gabi.
And worked with the onedrive guy so we knew which change (as we had
made two) got the app working. Reminded him to update the manual.
And we figured out if you log out of the app you have to log back in
manually, but if you just log out, the sign on works properly. Bug?
Yeah, probably. Just close the app if that's the case, or take away
the log out button and make them use the home screen button. So
dumb.
Worked on more test cases for the new cards. All the D7.7 test cases
should be just about ready in that case.
Went to second work. Their monitor came to life after me unplugging
it. Seriously, try that first. How many times do I have to say it?
They had some junk on the machine, Mbam actually found some stuff?
That hasn't happened in a minute. Also found his wi-fi password.
Tough stuff.
Came back here, checked sites. Called fan guy, no answer. Called the
lady I ordered office for, no answer. The one call tonight wants
after 8:00 but her issue is "close the safari tab with the scam in
it." That's her issue. But I have to call and tell her this basic
information.
Ate dinner of course.
Then warframe with the others. Will we get our last part tonight?
We did not.
Wed:
Actually quite quiet today. Not much to write about. I made a new
backup, as I realized I hadn't done so since 2021. Talked more with
Don about who was right about the new challenge password feature,
and held the door for someone moving a printer. Yes, this is what
passes for excitement sometimes.
With no after work job I visited staples to get more forms as I'm
finally running low on them again, and good will. Got a few goodies
for the game but a similar number of things for myself. A large
twilight sparkle, a squishable, (I could have gotten an elephant
with wings and a horn but I felt that was going too far) a mermaid
sign I'm going to put in the bathroom, and actually I think that
might be it.
Checked sites, ate dinner. Bit of Legacy, but only one mission
worth.
Thurs:
The usual meetings today. We talked about what to do about the log
out problem, and the answer was obvious. Don't log out. Simple. The
status meeting was fairly short.
Worked on the test cases. The fake test cases, as we should be
making them from specs, not thin air.
Did the server check. Two of them won't take updates. Neat. Put in a
ticket for Ken, not my job, ha ha ha!
Went to second job. Typed in the product key for Office. Oh, right,
activation is a thing. Forgot all about that! Well, it wouldn't
activate over the internet, maybe because it's a 12 year old
product? So I called the number. I told the phone algorithm it was a
Mac product and it offered to send me a link to use the web version.
I figured that would be easier and accepted. Whoops, nope, it
doesn't support the Mac product. Neat! Thanks phone ghost. I clearly
said Mac, why did you then proceed to send me a place I can't go? So
I called it back. Said no this time. Typed in the 6*9=45 digits it
wanted. After each group of 6 it had to stop and read it back to me,
then wait for me to say yes. So tedious. Got all the way through
finally, okay it was accepted. But no key was generated. You need to
talk to a real person. Great! I had to tell this "real" "person" the
numbers all again. This is so stupid. Finally got the return key and
the product was activated. So. Stupid.
Came back here, checked sites. Ate dinner, the last piece of pie.
One call, just the fan guy, who again didn't answer. But he said
Monday would be fine so it looks like the weekend is in the clear.
Looking ahead then we'll do the shopping tomorrow. See my parents.
Not sure what work stuff I'll have. Maybe the new drivers? We got
them, but I really have no direction as to what, exactly, I'm
supposed to be testing. Like, what features? All of them? What
products? All of them? I emailed to say "you've all told me nothing
about what you want done here, can I get some direction please?" We
don't do driver testing. That's another group. I don't even
understand why we're doing it. There must be a million permutations
to go through for something like that.
Then back to the hunted game. Hopefully I'll show up before Niel's
character dies or whatever?
Saturday is the space angels game. Otherwise, probably some Legacy.
Stuff around the house. The snow has almost fully melted finally. So
we've got that going for us.
I'll do some RCG2 tonight.
Next week ends March. I won't be too sad to see it go.
Guess that's it for this week. Come back next time to find out what
hijinks I get up to!
Oh yeah, almost forgot. For all its faults, and believe me there are
many, sometimes in Legacy you get to see this, and that almost makes
it okay. Almost. (click it. CLICK IT)
Shoot, this isn't one of the good ones! There's no photo mode
(another oversight on their part) so I turned all my HUD elements
off to take more pictures. Sorry. Oh well, that's what you get. I
hope you're happy with yourself! (wait did I just victim shame?)
