2023-02-23:
Fri:
My sunday guy canceled, I forgot to mention that last time as it
only happened after 9:00.
Got the card working, I know there's a time I had to do the password
stuff. But it still doesn't work. When I open the app it's supposed
to be taking the cert from, it gives a ton of errors. Sigh. This
setup worked in the past, I know it did! I watched it work. I don't
get why all of a sudden I'm having this much problem with it.
Got a final version of the new weblet, ran a full test on that.
The food was gone, not in the trash. Where did it go? They couldn't
have carted it back to 207 could they? There was some new stuff
dated the 18th so I guess we'll see what Monday brings.
Left early.
Got the shot at 3:30, I guess many don't wear short sleeves as she
thanked me for that. Come on people!
Shopped there, got my ticket turned in, forgot to look for lemon
juice as I went to look for cat stuff, and never picked up that
thread again. Whoops.
Saw my parents.
Still feel okay.
Sites.
Sat:
Feeling a little run down, but not too bad. I'm at a -1 for sure.
Cleaned up as I'll have my parents over.
Checked sites.
Mostly just anime the rest of the time, I'm cold and my joints hurt.
My arm is sore but that's to be expected. Feel okay though. Just not
going to run any marathons any time soon. To be fair I wouldn't have
anyway.
Did my 2:00. He had stuff all over, and google drive won't tell me
the right size, but I think we got it straight. Not the google
thing, but everything else. I emptied his google drive but it still
says there over a GB of stuff in there? Where? It's completely
empty, as is the trash. Well, I told him to clean out his 6gb of
email a little and he won't have an issue.
Back here more anime until my parents came. Two star wars parodies.
I mean you can't watch spaceballs and then not watch thumb
wars.
Then a bit of FF7 remake with the new graphics card. Still stutters?
Come on! But just a little. I did up the frame rate from 30 to 60
fps and turned everything on. I could drop it down to 30 again...
Sun:
Feeling fine again. Arm doesn't hurt, and I'm not freezing.
Spent the day watching anime anyway. I have a huge list of things to
watch and then games to play. Best to maybe proceed from the top,
get the anime out of the way and move on to the steam library? After
FF7 playthrough 2 of course. And I never finished "classic" FF7
challenge playthrough I was doing. And Ni No Kuni. And winning (HA)
Wiz of Legend. If only everyone only had first world problems.
Finished the "cursed finger" anime and moved on the "confusing
archers on motorbikes" anime.
Got ready for tomorrow.
One call today, and another from Friday. Today was a "new setup" but
she won't have the machine until next week? So call me then, maybe?
Friday lady was a slow laptop. Get an SSD. She wanted Wednesday so I
gladly put it off two days. Gladly, I tell you. I was giddy!
Sean wants to do warframe, see if we can get parts for the new
frame. Reviews are it's okay, but nothing that would make me switch
from my damage dealing mirage frame. We started quite late. We have
to gather crystals that appear out of nowhere. Because... Magic? I
got the bright idea to get the frame that can shrink down to fairy
size and fly around. Was super easy then.
Mon:
I guess we're being called upon to do more upgrade testing. You
know, if a department has a job, like doing upgrade testing to pick
a random example, totally random, and they don't have enough
"bandwidth" to perform said task, perhaps they should hire more
"resources" i.e. people to do that work. Not just give it to other
groups that may have their own stuff to be doing? Just a thought. In
any case, put together a new test document for that, as there's a
bit less and yet a bit more to do in order to test this. I guess
they're having a build issue or we would have started it today.
Tried remaking the card and messing with the user again. No luck.
The card can't be damaged, it let me erase and rebuild it. Right?
But what else...
Oh, no haul. The cases were pretty empty, actually. Sad face.
Got the card working. I guess I had the wrong cert on it? How did
that... what? But I clearly used it once that day, and it worked. It
was only the second time it didn't. Did I give my card to someone
and make this one, and choose the wrong cert? I don't understand how
a cert in a folder called discovery1, the name of the user, that had
the correct password, and seemingly all the right attributes can be
wrong. I do notice it didn't have like.... shoot what was it?
Subject alternative field or something. But where did it come from?
If there was a newer one (which I did find) why didn't I rid myself
of the old? Makes no sense.
Had a meeting about what to tell Fuji about my bug. So dumb.
Got Oliver's new bottle of meds, and then went to see about yummy
liquid for Tinker. They didn't have like a cat milk, but I thought
that might need to be refrigerated? I did pick up (another)
fountain. Two of the three cats in the house went and drank from it
immediately. Guess who didn't? Sigh.
Checked sites, videos. Ugh, the gun still has 3 hours to go in
Warframe.
Tues:
Not much action at work today.
Started with loading the new release to see if the bug fixes worked.
hahahahahahah. No. They did not. They made more changes, and some
kind of patch was tried? This worked, so we'll see if the next
release works a little better. But I did that testing anyway.
Then the usual Joe meeting.
That was it, oh a question here and there from Don but nothing
really of note.
Came back here, checked sites.
One call, Mac from 2011 with what I suspect is a bad drive. It won't
fully boot, but the diagnostic error number wasn't all that helpful.
Talked to him for a bit about his options.
Then more xbox.
Wed:
More meetings today, love me some meetings.
I also loaded yet another new release and weblet to test that,
luckily I think we're nearing the end as my bugs have been fixed.
But once we get the final build I'll load it on both, the gabi
machine and the main machine to look at one more time.
Not much else exciting work wise. Started to snow in the afternoon.
Went to after work job. Man was her laptop sluggish. Decided right
away to replace it, and she had 100gb of stuff so I figured, sure,
based on my calculations from before it should take about an hour. I
took it out, hooked it up to my dual drive adapter, and bam. Three
hours.
Yes, three hours of my life I'll never get back. I hate PC
hardware, you know that? Oh, you did? And it's not just the
insane slowness of PC hardware that gets me. I look up the drive
info and learn it has a transfer rate of "750Mb/Sec." Oh really?
Funny that the instantaneous rate can be less than one MB a second
then isn't it? Why create a device with a maximum rate of 750 mb/sec
that struggles to get to 20? And I know it could do 50. After it
finished the "C:" partition (and MS, really, it's not Win95 anymore,
can we please get away from this DOS convention? I mean it's windows
11 and 2023, throw something away for once. But I digress) and it
started the other two partitions (because PC makers love to cut HDs
into like 5-6 pieces for reasons) it started to get 50mb/sec. Oh,
look at that, I cried to myself, because my new cat friend had left.
(took him two hours to come see me, but only stayed a few minutes.
I'm lonely, kitty, come back and let me give you headpats!!!!) The
drive can do a slightly faster rate. It's doing the same thing it
was before, moving a mechanical arm back and forth to use a probe to
see tiny magnetic bits and send an electrical signal up the USB
cable, into the CPU, back down the USB cable (goddess I
miss firewire where the CPU could be told "we got this" and just
proceed) and to the other drive 1 inch away and tell that "store
electrons here, here, here, here, here, here, etc.) I see you doing
it at 50mb/sec, why, oh why couldn't you have done that the
whole time? I could have been done in 1/5 the time! But
noooooooooooooooooooo.
Finally got home about 8:30. Did I mention it was 30 degrees and
raining? No? Yeah, they're calling for lots of nice ice, so it's
going to be great big loads of fun tomorrow getting Tinker to the
vet at 7:50. So. Fun. That's why I didn't take it home, I mean there
was me thinking it would only take an hour, but still. I would not
want to have driven there and back twice it was really, really nasty
out.
Fed them because I have to take food away at 10:00.
And got ready for bed. Glad I got to do anything else today.
Tomorrow is the new laptop setup. Will we even be able to get out of
the house? I guess we'll see.
Thurs:
Took in the kitty. Everyone was wistfully wandering wondering where
breakfast was. There's going to be breakfast, right? Dad? Dad? Did
you forget something? Dad? You're up, what about us? Dad? He was
resigned to it though, didn't complain much in the car, and we made
it there as the weather wasn't too bad. Don't get me wrong, there's
ice on everything, and the snow on the driveway has no give
whatsoever. But we made it out and on time.
Fairly busy at work, though of course it was meeting day. I started
with the usual server check for the 23rd. Seems one machine was
done, a drive failure? That's what Ken said. We had the demo of the
weblet product which went fine.
Worked a little with the developer to reproduce the gabi issue.
Worked on that a few times actually, before the two devices
cooperated to give me a good and bad result that he could take a
network trace of. That happened at various points of the day.
Then the SSO meeting, we were promised the "release candidate" and I
discovered the reason this onedrive app and the previous onedrive
app are so different is we didn't use our own widgets. This was
quite a shock to me. So bizarre. Eating the dog food, and whatnot.
Then the status meeting, then plants. Went out to the car, it's
pretty iced up, but called my after work job, I need to get Tinker
at 5:00 she said he did really good, had one small tooth that was
loose, but nothing much on x-rays. So he can come home and be on
soft food until Saturday. Sorry Squeaker. You'll live. She said as
it was so nasty out just come Saturday. Which I guess is fine. It's
probably better than doing too much driving today, it was still
raining and nasty so hopefully that passes by then.
So I stayed at work until 5:00. Had some food there. Chipped the ice
off the car and got Tink.
One call, a true blast from the past, asking about router prices? I
guess he wants one, great add more EM pollution to your apartment.
That's great.
Tink seems fine.
Checked sites, videos. Finished the anime I was watching. On to the
next.
And speaking of on to the next. A busy day tomorrow, if we actually
get the onedrive stuff. I'm showing Karen the final product. And
testing the bugs are fixed of course. I've actually got a list of
things to do. At least I crossed Gabi off it.
Then I'll go to the bank, do the shopping, and see my parents. No
game, I think we're actually bagging it for now, he hasn't had time
to work on it.
Saturday is two jobs, the one in the morning and the one from today.
Then I get to work Sunday as well, noon, for router guy. I love
working Sundays. Love it. Love. It.
I'll have my parents over Saturday night though.
Humm... have to do my annual sales tax. Love doing that too, but it
doesn't take long.
That should do it. We're nearing the end of Feb! March eh...?
See you then!
