2022-12-01:
Fri:
Started gluing Sean's gift together. Where are all my clamps? I can't find
them. I have half a dozen big, metal, screw clamps. Nowhere to be found.
Neat.
Put up the tree.
More gluing. Shoved a bunch of heavy stuff on the main piece. Without the
clamps I don't know how I'm going to do the smaller pieces. Just go buy one
and do them one at a time I guess? But I have, somewhere around here, a ton
of clamps. I know I do. I remember using two... somewhat recently. It
doesn't make sense.
Fixed the wreath, the bow always comes off when it's hung up downstairs.
Wrapped some gifts.
Went shopping after lunch. No more cider I guess. That was good while it
lasted, but it never seems to last all that long. I only got one about 4
times maybe?
BTW I'm an idiot. Oh you can ask anyone that knows me. "Oh, that guy? Yeah,
total moron." Heck you could probably ask people that don't know
me. "Don't know that name, but he sounds like an idiot." Found the clamps.
Right where I put them, a year and a half ago now. See, when I got the car I
took out the back seat. Then I put a board down to smooth it out. Then I put
the clamps on the end of the board so the boxes in the car didn't slide off
it. I see them all the time. Every time I get something out of
the car. They there are. But did my brain light up those neurons that
corresponded to that memory when I asked it where I had last seen the
things? No. No it did not. Thanks brain, glad you have my back, or whatever.
This doesn't explain where the "extra" two are, I think I had six, but there
were only four out there. So I think I'm still missing some but at least I
found them. Sigh.
Did some reading.
Ate dinner.
Watched the He-Man and She-ra Christmas special. Wow. Thank crap cartoons
have evolved a little over the years. I mean the amphibia episode was so
much better!
And now I'm a double idiot. There was another clamp in the living room.
It was just under a sheet of paper. I happened to catch a glance at the
top part when I was petting a kitty. It was right there. I wandered around
looking in every room and there it was, just under a folded up sheet of
paper. Why me?
Started Katawa Shoujo.
Then did game. Well, talking about rules, not really helping Sean come to
any conclusions on how to "fix" his "issue," and then trying to keep some
other adventurers from killing a bunch of plant monsters long enough we
could get some sap from one of them. We managed it.
Sat:
My other grandfather died yesterday. Strange, on the same day Donna did four
years ago? And my first grandfather died three days before that in 1994. I'm
starting to fear November for some reason...
Two of the three points on Sean's gift seem to be glued properly. Applied
glue to the third and cranked it down, I guess in 4 hours we'll uncrank it
and I can touch up the paint. Then hopefully move on the getting the rest of
it done. With my newly found clamps.
Noticed yesterday that when I turned the lights on, half of them didn't
work. Neat. Went out today to see if I could see why. The ones on the left
have just stopped working. It's the red string. I checked the fuses, they
are still okay. But plugging the string in, nothing lights up on it or past
it. Also the green string now seems to be half gone. So I guess we're just
lighting up half the place.
Checked sites.
Repainted, waited for that to dry for a bit, then started the next two
pieces gluing. Only 6 more to go after this. With a little luck I should
finish tomorrow.
Ate lunch.
Watched a chirstmas special.
Then more K.S.
Left for game. We had probably the last Star Trek game for awhile. Things
got...real. With Kim gone we felt "compelled" to kill off her character
and let's just say it wouldn't have made it as a Star Trek script. That's
all I'm saying.
Came back here.
Sun:
Got right to work gluing more pieces. I did 2 of the 3, felt it was
pushing it to do more. I can wait 4 hours and do the last piece.
Sites.
Alternated Katawa Shoujo and gluing.
Got a good ending in K.Shoujo. Not with the girl I was trying to go after
though so I restarted. Oddly I think I like the first girl more? I have a
feeling I'm heading towards a bad end here. I don't seem to be taking my
medication and she (girl 1) got me into running so my heart got stronger.
Without her to push me on am I headed towards disaster? Girl #2 does like
me.
Got all the gluing done! I need to mix up more gray paint, the glue has
gotten on it making it look odd. But at least it's holding up. I think
I'll be done with it soon, finally!
Christmas is coming together. Rain today though, not snow. Good!
Made my calls, still didn't reach the guy that said he was having problems
just after I went there. And a lady that said something about a picture? I
don't know. It's not far, we'll check it out.
Have to take Squeaker in tomorrow morning at 9:00, so I'll be a bit late
to work. Oh no whatever will they do without me?
Halo!
Mon:
Took squeaker in to the vet, which was only $500, then went to work.
Not much to talk about there, haven't gotten in anything new, and there
was no haul either. Odd. The last one was the 17th I would have expected
it right before/after a 4 day holiday. Odd.
Went out to my after work work. She says she got the machine new but it
had a user on it, a local user, and an admin account I didn't know the
password for. Huh? How did all this happen? And of course it's super slow
because it has a spinning rust drive. Please, manufacturers, stop using
these. Windows just isn't able to run on them. Really. But with some
trickery I made a new account, blew away the two bad accounts, and that
was that.
Came back here, checked sites.
Surprise Halo invitation, so I have to get ready for tomorrow and such so
I can do that.
Tues:
Just a normal day once again. Had the tuesday meeting, that was the extent
of the work for the day. Nothing new in yet. No news on the toner test and
it'll be next week when the next versalink stuff comes in. No haul either.
But the case got moved around. I checked a couple of times, even the big
bin all the bags seem to collect in. Nothing. Weird.
After work job was straightforward as well. Nothing was updated, and she
still had ancient stuff like old versions of Java and Quicktime player.
Ugh. Got rid of all that, mbam for 40 minutes (ugh) fonud 6 things. Super.
Checked sites, had dinner. Got ready for tomorrow and Halo.
Wed:
We did get in the last versalink software we were expecting, but the irony
is the first test was just sending the two barcode print jobs which took
all of two minutes. I was going to stay late, making up the time from
Monday and do the delete print jobs tests after Christina left. But it
turned out she did them. Silly. I stayed late anyway, not that it was work
related because it wasn't. I finished up setting book 2 up in the new
format. Went much easier than book 1. Having the template really did speed
things up, and I had less work to do because I had done a better job
writing it to start with.
There's still one test to do, the upgrades, but we need a new build to
upgrade to, so hopefully we'll have that tomorrow. That should also go
quickly. Meeting day tomorrow, we should get the next onedrive app as
well.
Came back home, it rained pretty hard today and it was dark when I came
out of work. Yuck.
Back here I checked sites and videos.
3 calls? What? One lady I'm ordering a new backup drive for, one lady with
a printer (get a new one) and one lady that scammed herself. We
determined she was fine though.
Got ready for tomorrow.
Thurs:
Meeting day. We even had an extra meeting for the extra goodness. It was a
Joe meeting at 11:30, meaning lunchtime. Loved it. Then at 1:00 the
onedrive meeting, and then at 2:00 the status meeting. Neat.
We did get the new onedrive version so I'll install that tomorrow. We were
also told it was fine to take a D4.0 build so I'm going to get that out of
the way quickly. Get it done in the morning, it's the iOS stuff, again,
which will finally finish that off. Good riddance.
The cardboard bin was full of garbage, mostly binders full of papers. I
took the papers, so I have a whole stack of them to give to my parents.
Won't need to scrounge for any the rest of the year!
Still no haul.
Finished up book 2 and started book 2.5. Yes, it's a thing, you had to be
there.
Watered the plants and came home. Checked sites, ate dinner. Didn't have a
call but now I do. Something about email from the lady that was going to
get a Mac several months ago. Yeah, still hasn't.
She was complaining that she missed a sale by a day and they wouldn't give
her the sale price. Uh, yeah, no store is going to do that. Why would you
expect Best Buy to? I mean, really. You've been alive long enough to know
that's pretty universal. Anyway, turned receiving on for her crappy old
windows live mail but somehow it still took a half hour.
Let's look ahead. It's December now, the month of darkness. I hope you
have many tiny lights to light your way. Tomorrow we'll blaze through some
testing and some bug fixes. Maybe find some new ones? Hard to say.
Shopping, remember the banking this time, and see my parents. We're still
on for game so we can do that.
The vet is next week, I had it on the calendar for the 3rd. So
silly. Nothing big planned, doing the paperwork, giving Sean's gift a last
coat of paint. Cleaning up, having my parents over for the two christmas
specials. Shoot, I need to watch my favorite christmas special.
You know the one.
That would seem to be it. Only four more of these this year. How is that
even possible?
See you for the final countdown.
