Fri: More upgrade testing. Got through a few models, all color so the upgrades worked on them. Trouble with doing these tests is it takes so long for each step, you get going on something else and forget to go back to it. That's the main time sink, just letting it sit there doing nothing because you (in this came me) hasn't gone back to pull the USB drive or whatever. Finished up the test cases for the new user mode and submitted them for "approval." They don't need anyone's approval, just like you don't need anyone's approval. You go live your best life! What was I talking about? Looked at Neil's gift, I think it's set. Did the fax test on the new product. One odd thing, but native fax does the same thing so I guess it's fine. Bank and shopping. Got a wi-fi adapter for the lady tomorrow. Got the same brand as the router, it's probably not needed, but it was one of the cheaper ones anyway soooooooo.... Saw my parents. Came back for game. Still in the middle of the princess quest. But Zelthar seems on the level so we'll probably trust him more in the future. Sat: First job went fine, just switched out her wi-fi adapter. Of course the installer sort of hung but it had loaded the driver at that point so it worked. Figured I would stop and get fabric. Stupid hobby lobby, I hate supporting those people. But I'm not driving all the way to penfield again. Surprising amount of Sailor Moon stuff. Like, really cute sailor moon stuff. And it was surprising because I expected zero sailor moon stuff. But they had a bank, some cute figures of moon, small lady and sailor saturn of all people. A mini mercury (squeal!!!) and some figures in bags. Weird. Then out for the terrible afternoon. The no good, bad, awful, hateful, horrible, icky afternoon. The 1:00 canceled, good thing he did or it would have been even worse. So instead I went to what is left of york. They're trying to sell off their remaining inventory. Basically letting people just walk in and buy what they see. But that's not our concern. Our concern is their PC finally died. Possibly some leaking capacitors. It would start maybe 1 of 10 times but hang after 30 seconds or so. Even in the bios! Whoops. I saw no other physical cause and replaced the power supply (which we'll get back to) which didn't help. Well he did have the disks for peachtree, but of course it was a 2006 version that didn't want to install in Win10. It would "install" but the folder it made was mostly empty. I tried running it as admin, running it in "compatibility mode" but nothing worked. It's sixteen years old, after all. So I ended up making a virtual machine, installing his ancient server 2003 (from the disk I made many moons ago, thank you past me) into it, finding a serial number online because there was no sticker, (of course), installing it there, the backup were useless so I got the data (I hope, more on that later) from the main drive. Luckily it being a RAID disk didn't interfere. I say I hope because of course the raid was "degraded" as it always is so was it the latest? The date was the day before so I would say I got lucky or the "degraded" state is just nonsense. So he's got my loaner laptop for like a week so he can finish up the business. He doesn't have the place after the 31st. That took me from 1:30 to 3:30. No sense going home after that. I actually stopped at goodwill to see if there were any goodies, and there were. (And some cuties!) Spent half an hour there and got to Sean's on time. Oh, and back to the power supply. It's supposed to be a 500W power supply, right? I've not opened it to look but now I wanted to try replacing theirs as that's really the only part I can replace. So I pull it out. Huh? It's a 400W power supply with a completely different part number? WHAT? Unbelievable. We finished that adventure but it'll be almost a month before we do it again. We saved as many people as we could from the virus, go us. Watched some teen titans. Finally got home. Sun: Started more 3D printing. Had to redo the pieces, I had a hidden piece in all my files I had to delete, but that didn't take too long. So far so good. Exporting the piece to the .stl file the slicer understands doesn't care the piece was "hidden" in the view, it simply includes it. I thought I had deleted all other pieces but no, I still had that one in there. It was fine, no real work to remove it. Worked on Neil's gift. Finished and ordered. Whew. One down, two to go. 3D prints came out good. 5 total pieces done. Did some painting, still a few pieces to go. Another 8 hour one I think. When I have them all I'll give them a light coat of black, (it's black material but I'm still not happy with the one I sanded. I hope it covers that and we'll call it a day) paint the white stripe and begin the assembly. Talked to york people, apparently "just leave it alone and use peachtree" wasn't specific enough. They closed or minimized the virtual box. I told them how to bring it up again. Oh, and now he's concerned about how they'll access it in the future if they're audited. Dude, you said you wanted it for the next week to close your business. Don't go changing the requirements on me the next day. I suggested maybe printing all the records? I don't know, you figure it out I don't know what you're tracking or what peachtree even does!!! Watched the latest The Owl House. Stupid Disney, not allowing the full season 3. Good episode, it just could have been 8 episodes of Luz goodness instead of just 45 minutes. Got ready for tomorrow. One call, amazon guy again. Account is still locked I guess. He said he called them but honestly with the rambling explanations most people give I'm not surprised he didn't get anywhere. He said he would try again. Mon: Continued the upgrade testing. Did the server updates too. Exciting stuff I know. Two of the upgrades had a surprising result, but I figured out why right at the end of the day. I missed a step. Bad Robert! Not a problem, I can run those two upgrades again tomorrow morning in the correct way and I bet I'll get the expected result. The guy was doing something to the refrigerator in the morning so I was chomping at the bit to check the trash. Someone was sitting next to it for the longest time but they finally moved and..... I got nothing. Until the afternoon when I checked on the way home. It had stuff! Yay! More food! I have breakfast for the next week and got more long subs. Some other stuff too, so I'll probably bring more to my parents. Freezer is getting full again. Weird how it happened, the stuff was still cold so what happened to it? Did a bit of writing of the emberhaven story. Came back here. Started the next print. Checked sites, had dinner. Tues: Not much exciting at work today. I did the two tests I wanted to in the morning. As expected, not skipping the step that would make the test pass made the test pass. Not bad. Did a few more upgrade tests, all that I can in fact. The machines I need are signed out. Well, there's always tomorrow. Or next week in this case. Worked on the story, got another chapter done. Came back here, painted Mizzy's gift. The one side I was trying to sand does look a lot better. Trying to figure out my power though. My two UPS in this room are clicking all the time. And the one keeps going on battery power for a few seconds. My lights seem to be flickering just a little too. Very odd. I thought maybe it was having the two for some reason, and turning off the one has helped, it's not clicking nearly as much now. Still doing it though. Checked sites, videos. One call, about quickbooks. Ugh. Got ready for bed. Picked up my stuff in NMS and looked at the new super slots. Could be useful. if we ever play again. Wed: A new meeting day? It seems that way, there were three meetings today. Can I remember them all? I have no idea! Let's see there was the meeting about the priority of the onedrive bugs. 15 priority 1, like 60+ priority 2, 100+ priority 3. They have to fix all 15 and all but 4 of the 60. Which sounds really dumb. Oh, yeah, we'll fix 56 bugs but those four? No, those are going to stay. What else. A meeting with Joe about a feature I won't test for months! Neat! Why am I going to that meeting at this early time? Good question. Then the third one. (This wasn't in order by the way this one was actually the first one!) Some stupid demo about fax and accounting. I don't understand it, it's useless, I won't be testing it. Who is keeping track of how many faxes someone is sending? NOBODY that's right. Who cares? They're outgoing faxes. It's not using paper or toner. So who cares? But they went on and on about this specific situation and that specific situation. I don't know how to test it, give it up. UUGS. Anyway. More upgrade testing. Did all I can do until some machines free up. Did some writing. Then came home. Hollowed out the last part I need to print, so it wouldn't take 8 hours only 5. It doesn't need to be that strong it's an interior decoration part. This is for Mizzy, only these two same parts left. Started that. Ate dinner. Checked sites. Did some NMS while watching videos. One call, just showing someone how to do a label in gmail for their address book. Huh, the UPS hasn't been clicking at all today, but it just did again. Very odd. Thurs: Actual meeting day! Had some meetings. The usual status meeting, the usual onedrive meeting. Nothing much new there, I hope they're working on stuff because they've got a lot of work to do. Finished the entries for the last emberhaven game, so that's all done for now. Still a few weeks before we will have more content. Huh, wonder how Stan made out with his surgery. Remade a card for a guy, apparently I didn't check a certain checkbox and that ruined everything. Everything. I tried one checkbox, nope. But then I found the right one. He said it worked! Success! I did something right! Then I worked with Adnan to figure his machine stuff out. Whoops, not DNS at all, one machine had a new IP address, one machine just was messed up. Thanks for blaming my stuff instead of working out the problem yourself. And that was today! I came home, worked on Mizzy's gift. The inserts... aren't working. Not sure why, they look perfect on the model. I've printed another at 8500% enlargement instead of 9000% enlargement. Hopefully a few mm of space will solve the issue. With my luck it'll be 5 hours of printing and it'll be 2mm too small. We'll see. No calls, a second one canceled the first one out. Future! Let's see, shopping tomorrow, and we got the D7.6 R22-10 release so I'll be testing that. The plan is to test 2 machines at the same time, cutting down on effort because it's much easier to do the same thing twice in a row than once today, and once tomorrow. No really! Let's get it done. I'll see my parents, and I guess game is back on. So we'll do that. Over the weekend I hope to finish Mizzy's gift, and maybe start the finishing touches on Sean's. I'll have my parents over for a movie. Maybe leaves? But probably not, it's still way early for my trees. Still an hour to go on the print. I'll let you know how it turns out. IF I LIVE. It's halloween next week. I'll probably be fine. OR WILL I? No, I probably will. See you here in November. OR WILL I? I will.
