Fri:
Feeding time.
Not much at work, verified a bug. Thankfully not moving the machine between
releases allowed it to upgrade just fine, as I expected. Then Christina
loaded an even later release (I used the "officially blessed" release just
in case but she was more adventurous) to look at a bug of hers.
No haul.
Took delivery of two machines, but they need to be loaded. Right now they're
just loaded with the tiny OS that is a test app basically, making sure paper
can move through the machine properly. Chris will be thrilled to be back in
our lab. They're smaller, slower, uglier replacements for the "home" line of
machines going forward. Really, they look sort of weird and again we've
decided to not deliver the paper to the front of the device but the back.
Forcing someone to reach around the device to get their printout.
Very odd choice.
Got cat food and litter, still not quite full shelves down there in the cat
section but there was more than the last time I went over there. So it's
good that situation is easing.
Went shopping for myself. Got the cider first thing this time.
Came back here, checked sites. Market is down more. Yay.
Got ready for tomorrow.
Did Sean's game. We got through one random encounter on the road. Yes,
forget about plot, what's important here is getting jumped by bandits two
minutes after leaving town. And then that fight taking all night, and we
didn't even win it. Some weird monster showed up and beat the rest of them
up for us. But we're in the very, VERY early stages of how the system is
even going to work so it's no big deal. I didn't expect to get very far, so
it was valuable data for him.
Sat:
Over to feed the kitties.
Worked on the solar heater. Got the wood cut, screwed in, and painted. I got
some long screws, it seemed easier than hammering. Nails hate me. And trying
to work sideways wasn't helping. But the screws worked out. The fan isn't
working, I think I have a replacement though. I oiled it a bunch but the sun
went away, so I'll have to go back to it. Why can't I just have a big
magnetic power generator like in No Man's Sky? I'll need to get some black
spray paint, for the metal parts. It's coming off, how I don't know the
thing is sealed it's not being worn off. Weird. So I'll repaint them as
well.
Then NMS. Got my latest base built, and went resource hunting to replace the
materials I used. Done!
Watched a few things.
Sun:
Last time over to feed everyone.
Finished up Pantheon, at least all that exists up until now.
Did some printing. Seems to be going okay. Of course there are the usual
problems.
Picked more grapes, as the rain made the branches lower and I could reach
them. Got a whole container full.
Played more NMS. Went through my bases and wrote down their major features
as I have enough they're sort of blurring together.
Finally got some decent prints. Not that they weren't good prints, mind you,
just not usable. They were too small to start, despite my enlarging them and
adding more length before I began. And the second piece didn't match up with
the first? I did realise I can mirror pieces in the slicer, so I just
started doing that. In the end it took all afternoon but I got 6 pieces
printed. I have five small ones, and one big one to go. Sigh.
Got ready for tomorrow.
Mon:
Big haul today in the morning. As expected, but as it's Monday morning it
was probably dumped last week. Sigh. I wonder if anyone would notice if I
started coming back in after leaving my parent's house to check the cans?
Hummmm. It's gonna be fine, but I do worry about the salad. No melted ice
cream dripping all over everything or coffee thrown in there. Oddly the food
was done after the coffee stuff so it wasn't even squished. The sandwiches
will be frozen, as usual, as they're sealed up it's fine, I've done that
before. The freezer is once again nicely full. I don't know if the salad
will make it all week, I did get five of them. Forgot to take a picture,
darn it! Got a few chips, some protein bars, a lot of carrots, one cheese,
one yogurt, three boxes of chicken tenders, and the rest are sandwiches.
The guy in the chamber is gone. He's been there for years, since I started
going through that area. It's sort of the back way into the lab, a section
he opens every day because I don't have the code for that door, just the one
beyond that door. Yes, it's bizarre. Anyway, the door was closed last week
so I thought he was just out. Nope, went in there today and found his
chamber empty. Well, apart from a stack of about a hundred empty toner
cartridges. Thanks for that. Don't walk them down to the box yourself, make
someone else do it. Classy. Anyway, weird.
Had a meeting about the FX information which is them whining about how hard
problems are to fix instead of fixing problems.
Nothing else work wise, I started, and think I finished, Mizzy's 3D file.
Now to finish printing Sean's so I can start printing this one. It should
be much easier. *crosses fingers*
Curses! The salad is all ruined. Nasty and yucky. I brought it all home and
tossed it in the composter. Sigh. At least it'll become nice dirt so it's
not totally going to waste but still. I could have eaten that all week (I
got 7 of them!) but noooo. He has to clean the place out after I leave on
Friday. Jerk.
Got back here, checked sites, ate dinner.
Tues:
Had some meetings, and realized we were supposed to test a feature in a
release we didn't even know about. Neat. It was something we've tested
several times before so it was no big deal. I did one machine, at least a
look at it. No problems. But maybe communicate to us when releases come out?
It wasn't even on our site, Christina had to go get it from Fuji herself.
What in the world?
Not much else otherwise. Updated my character so I have some kind of
backstory now.
Went to good well, got two goodies.
Came back here. Sites and videos. Ate dinner.
Finished up Castlevania.
Wed:
Hour meeting about bug I didn't write.
Looked at Star Trek books a little.
Not much else exciting.
Came back here. Ate dinner, checked sites.
No calls, I'm on a roll here.
Ended up doing more no man's sky than I thought. Tried to bring more power
to the base, it didn't work. But I set up a second garden out in the water
which is pretty cool.
Thurs:
Did not get the promised update to the onedrive app. We had a meeting but
the guy from company making it didn't show. What a jerk! Did he forget? It's
not the normal guy. Anyway, that meeting didn't last long.
We had other meetings, yes with an s, so I was not lonely. Two meetings
about what to do with the fact the feature isn't meeting the customer need
despite what we wanted to give them that would have being rejected. They
just have too big a network to scan every single time, it's seeming like.
Even our network takes a few seconds to scan. And apparently they're
rejecting a possible work around. Great.
Had the other status meeting of course.
Not much else.
Came back here, no calls. Checked sites and had dinner. More No Man's Sky. I
had an idea for a solar tower, because I had batteries and solar panels all
over the dang place. So I put them in a nice tower, so the base is all
cleaned up now. I put a vault in there, harvested my crops, started a new
building in my settlement, found the seeds for the last plant I wanted to
plant, and that was that.
Looking forward if we get the onedrive tomorrow I'll work on that. Otherwise
I was told I could do a D4.0 test early (like months early???) so I'll just
do that. It should be a quick test, it's just the iOS again. Huh, wonder if
Christina still has the tablet. Oh well, no big deal.
Seeing my parents, probably go to the bank. No game, at least that's not
been changed as of this moment.
Saturday is still game though, but it's just character creation for the star
trek game, so....
I have plenty to do over the weekend. Finish up repairing the heater. Cut
the front lawn hopefully for the last time this year. More printing. I got
the filament for Mizzy's gift so if I finally finish Sean's I can move
forward with that maybe? I also have on the list "shrink stuff" but I have
no idea what that even means now. Great job, past me. Shrink what stuff?
How? What?
Oh hey, September is over. I can already see the snow. Neat.
See you all next week, pumpkin spice latte in hand.
