Fri:
Moved a few machines around in the lab. As we had a free table with some
little machines going into the lineup to maybe, one day, after a year of
being marked, being tossed I brought our newest machines together so they
can sit side by side. Honestly, I don't know what Ken's doing but it isn't
getting rid of these machines very quickly. It's been more than a year since
he started the scrap request. Get them out of here please!
Read over the story again, fixed and changed a few things.
No real work yet. No meetings.
Did the shopping, got ice cream stuff. I got condensed milk instead of
evaporated, I hope that doesn't screw things up.
Saw my parents, helped move a piece of equipment to a stranger's car.
Came back here, checked sites, videos.
Warframe, sigh. No No Man's Sky today.
Sat:
3 jobs, ugh. York man had indeed turned his answering machine off. As I
predicted. I hit the button to turn it on. But he really had a new phone,
but no extensions I guess he thought they came in the box? Not for this one.
So I hooked the lines up to the phone and I hope it works the way you think,
my man. Because I'm not sure it does.
Bishop had the worst HP I've ever seen. Tiny little MB, huge case, laptop
optical drive, they cut every corner. The heatsink was this tiny thing with
the smallest fan I could imagine on top of it. Yeah, gee, wonder why it
hangs all the time. It's junk. How can a company make such a junky product?
Just more evidence that HP like dell doesn't care about the experience you
have using their product. They don't. Get a Mac.
Then TV guy, odd problem, his audio loses sync when he changes channels. But
only over HDMI not analog. So he can have working audio OR HD. Choose. I
told him to keep working with Sony, but really after updating the TV (and
that's a dumb thing to have to do anyway) to the latest what else are you
going to do? Oh, and it wouldn't connect to the wi-fi. Oh, it would connect,
and the network test would say everything was fine. But it wouldn't actually
do the update over the air or open youtube, so that's useless. I don't think
sony cares about the experience you have...
Made ice cream. Looks like the condensed milk means it's not going to freeze
as hard. I have to dig the stuff out of the popsicle cups with a knife.
Whoops. I have enough for a second batch as the first only uses half the
cream, I'll just put it into a container. Good to know.
Cleaned up for my parents.
Checked sites.
Parents came over.
We were going to play No Man's Sky after that! But we didn't. Mizzy had to
do a big update. Gurr.
So we did Back 4 Blood with her friend instead.
Sun:
Got out and did more work on the tree in the yard before it got too hot.
This didn't actually take long.
But I got it raked out, the sticks picked up, and dug up the ivy and put it
in a bag and washed my gloves off. Byeeeee! It's supposed to be cooler next
week, I'll start putting trees over there. My plan is to keep the seedlings
I have upstairs until next year, see if the survive the winter and such, and
put them there in the spring. We'll have a solid ring of flowers around that
tree... In twenty years.
Checked sites.
Had lunch.
Made bread. Because that's what you do when it's a million degrees outside.
Make more heat. Huh, maybe I should have just let the batter sit outside and
cook.
Did the paperwork from last month. Actually did 9 jobs, unlike the 3 I did
the month before. Of course 1/3 of them were York...
Know what I didn't do? Get a call from York! Yes, amazing they went a day
without calling me. Did he actually get the phone system hooked up
correctly?
And I made this!
after hearing the song "Juanita" from Shania Twain but given this one line
seemed particularly pertinent presently and I heard "Alita" instead of
"Juanita" because that's just the kind of brain I have this seemed a natural
fit.
Got the laser hand and a new gun to play with in Borderlands. The first time
for both. Redid my skill points, got equipment that raises spell and fire
damage, and checked it out. I'm pretty happy with the build actually. I have
my laser spell in one hand, and a dark magic spell I like in the other that
steals health. It charges up fast too, so I can basically spam them out
almost continuously, and I never have to fire my gun unless I'm really
getting mobbed. Of course now that I have the build I want, I have no reason
to play the game anymore. Sigh. After all we've moved on.
Did some vacuuming. It's too darn hot, even for me! What is happening?
Had dinner.
Got ready for tomorrow. Didn't reach my one call, a person that wiped their
Mac and now is mystified it won't boot. I don't know if they're doing it
right for internet restore and they just need to set their clock back or
what. Do you need to do that with the network restore or just old upgrade
files? Not sure, but it's what I'll try first if it does give an error. Or
maybe I'll just see what the latest version it can take is and use my flash
drive. I've got all these things after all. Why are you getting rid of this
machine anyway, she found CDs she now wants to see, so clearly this is
something you should keep around. Her son convinced her to do it. No. Just
no. An iPad is not a complete replacement for a real computer. Honest. You
need to keep the old Mac around, as we've just proven. Morons.
And didn't reach Ellen, not that I wanted to.
Mac lady called, I'm going over there tomorrow.
We actually did some No Man's Sky. I had to start over, my previous save
"needed upgrading" or something I couldn't choose it in the list. So I did.
I set about going through the "tutorial" for a second time, and then
basically stripped the landscape of materials for like half an hour as Mizzy
struggled through and, uh, not to put too fine a point on things,
complained. Huh. I mean they did make some questionable design
choices honestly I'm not disputing that. But we did get our ships repaired,
so hopefully it will be smooth sailing from here on out!
Mon:
Nothing new on the onedrive front, no new software yet from them. Didn't
hear anything all day. Are they dead?
Bored. Need a new project. Thought about it all day. The only thing I really
came up with is a prequal, if you will, to the current embers game showing
Orchid's adventures before we come to know her there. But I don't know.
Went to second job. Used my flash drive, an older one than I should have
because I didn't really know the vintage and the one I tried first didn't
show up. Is it damaged? Anyway, got it loaded, of course the certs were
expired so it wouldn't get on iCloud. I did manage to get an old firefox,
which did, and started her pictures uploading. All 2200 of them.
Got back at 6:00. Ate dinner, checked sites.
One call, but she doesn't have the pc back yet. Apparently "geek squad" is
anything but in florida or oregon or wherever she is. Huge surprise.
Got ready for tomorrow. Sean messaged about doing stuff but so far nothing.
Figured out how to play Heaven and Earth in Dosbox! I was thinking about
redoing that but trying it in Flutter would be an exercise in madness I must
assume. They have a "game engine" buuuuuuuttttttt....
Yay warframe....... I shall say no more.
Tues:
We got the app.
Spent most of the day trying to put it on the other server. Not that it'll
matter, they fixed 9 bugs. We sent them a list of over a hundred and fifty.
And they made it worse. I can't scan with the codes in the name. Hitting the
reset button makes the UI look bad. Pretty sure they broke search more, the
keyboard doesn't go down when you leave it. It's awful.
Finished up the picture lady's pictures. Did a speed test after sitting
there awhile. She was getting 2.56 Mb/sec upload. That's crap. I brought the
rest home and did them here, she said it was fine me taking them and her
password.
Checked sites, ate dinner. Got ready for tomorrow and then more Xbox. We
built stuff.
Wed:
More looking at the app. Wrote a few more things down, some questions
perhaps, about the hows and whys. I shall do no more, I think we've mined
the 9 "fixes" enough at this point.
No answer on what to do with the printer we got in yesterday. So that's a
thing. And now Don is talking about D7.7 stuff, is that software even mature
enough to look at?
Not much else.
Came back here, checked sites, videos.
Thurs:
Many meetings, as usual. The onedrive one, I wonder if they're fixing more
bugs? One with Don about future testing, with all the confusion over what
D7.6 is and isn't, and it being delayed again, and now deployed on the new
machines, I think we're going to have a D7.6 that has certain features on
one family of machines, but different features on another. So great. And
should I do D7.7 testing on the new devices only, an old device and a new
device? Both new devices and an old device? I still don't really have any
answers. I would have gotten started but... oh well.
Let's see, then the status meeting, and then plants.
Took my plants over my parent's for the sale tomorrow. They weren't there.
Shops.
Then back here. Dinner, checking sites.
York called, she couldn't log into the small unit. But then she changed the
mouse... and then she could? What? What does the mouse have to do with
logging in? Nothing, that's what. Did her mouse not work? She didn't say
anything about that. I will be so glad when those people are gone.
Not dead, just not York anymore, sheesh, what kind of monster do you think I
am?
Anyway, no game tomorrow. So it'll just be work stuff, maybe I'll just take
a stab at some D7.7 stuff, and just note it down, and if they want the new
machines tested too, later, fine. Or just more DS games, whatever.
I'll go to the bank tomorrow. Do the shopping, get some flour. And other
things, of course. Not just that. See my parents, hope the sale went well
and my plants were a big hit. Then come back here.
Saturday is more Emberhaven so I'll have that to write up Monday. Or some
such. Then Sunday is moving trees day, maybe I'll finally do more parts
printing? I really do have to do that, and figure out Mizzy's and Neil's
gifts.
Played the new Tina's content, the end of season 1. Will there be a season
2? Don't know. Mostly crushed it, but missed one barrel before heading to an
area I couldn't get out of. Sigh, all that work.
Well, that's it for another week. Hope it's treating you well, and I'll see
you all back here next week.
