2022-08-04:
Fri:
Did a bunch of writing.
Not much work though. We may get something Monday.
Got a bag of swag at the last second. Checked it around 2:00, someone was
there. Waited a bit. Boom. And someone had helpfully bagged it all up for
me, that was nice of them. Why though? Why waste a garbage bag throwing food
out? It's going into a garbage can which, correct me if I'm wrong,
has a garbage bag inside. Very odd. Pulled the bag, froze everything inside.
9 sandwiches, 3 carrots, 4 crackers and cheese. Not great after two weeks,
but not bad. Checked the other site. Nothing. Went back to make sure there
wasn't another bag in there, as I just kind of grabbed the one and went to
take care of it. Whoops, collected! The person doing the collection wasn't
there but the huge cart they use was next to the can and it was empty. I
looked the big cart over but didn't see anything interesting so I think I
got it all. Yay, the freezer is a bit more full again!
Went to the bank, did the shopping. Oh, got cat food too. Maybe you all out
there can help me with something. The small bag of sensitive stomach food is
.50 a pound and is chicken flavored. Right? But looking on the bottom shelf
I see a big bag of sensitive stomach food. This bag is only .25 a pound. But
wait, it's also salmon flavor. Shouldn't salmon flavor be more expensive
than chicken? And why is it half the price? I realize economies of scale and
whatnot but that's... a bizarre amount extra to charge. Needless to say I
got the big bag.
Saw my parents. Forgot the trash and the bag with the papers and such. Good
going, me.
They'll have to take such when they come for the movie tomorrow.
No game, Jon canceled on us.
Played some Solo Rain. Choosing items and having enemies drop them instead
of paying to open chests is the best.
Sat:
Made a list of the RoR items, so I know what I want to get and avoid. I wish
it was in the same order as the list I saw online, so I have to sort of
match them up rather than just use the position as the key but okay.
Little more Risk of Rain. Got to the end stage but got overwhelmed. Sigh.
Should have kept running I guess.
Cut the front lawn.
Cleaned up, parents are coming.
Checked sites.
Finished last episode of Orville. Very good. Very star wars. Big space
battle, and the AI lifeforms are more friendly towards organic life now.
Finally won RoR2. With one character. Used up 3 teddies I think. Sheesh. Why
didn't I get the skin for that character though? Odd.
Futurama and dinner.
Then my parents came over for the Rescue Rangers movie. I think they enjoyed
it.
Then some xbox with the others.
Sun:
Got up fairly late, as we did some warframe after the RoR2 run.
Checked sites and watched videos.
Ate lunch.
Went over to "york." Switched power plugs, got the credit card reader
working, set up the phone.
Back here, went to work on the weeds under the tree in the front. Wanted to
wait until next year because I already have so much in the pile, but mom
said go to it. So she's to blame. I think there may be more poison ivy in
there? Stayed away from that stuff.
I'll have to look it up and figure out how to spray it with my leaky bottle.
Next week I'll dig it up (the area I mean but probably the ivy I don't think
it takes long to die off once you spray it) and put in some trees.
Cleaned up after that.
Had dinner. Watched Futurama.
Had a great RoR2 run. I kept finding equipment drones and equipment drops.
So by the end I had 4 drones all that could summon 4 extra drones. And I had
the equipment to summon drones that I could use 7 times. That's 7 * 4 + 16
drones at once during the final battle. That's a lot of drones. Needless to
say we knocked the guy around a bunch and that was that.
Honestly, it's the opposite of Warframe. That game is terrible single
player. But this game I think is better single player. No worrying about who
has "more" items and whatnot. They need to do something like Borderlands
does. Give us the option to each get the "same" item. Reduce the frequency
of drops by the number of players so we get the same amount, roughly, and
let us go to it. That would make the game much better in my opinion.
Got ready for tomorrow. One call, didn't reach her.
Tried a new RoR2 charater, the Artificer. Previously I hadn't survived 5
minutes with that one. I had watched some videos about what I was doing
wrong, oh. You have to play that character quite differently which I did. I
died on part 3 of the final battle to something, but did unlock two of the
advanced abilities. So that was worth it.
Mon:
The haul is back! Yup, did not expect another haul after Friday but I
checked on the way out today just for completeness. What do you know. Not
bagged, but thrown in were 3 small salad, 1 large, and the usual assortment
of sandwiches. Plus 3 cups of mac and cheese. Neat. Had one of the cheese
packages from last week, found something odd. The cheese slices were
smaller. Sheesh, I knew inflation was bad but I didn't realize it had hit
the cows so hard. Hope they're back to the regular size soon.
Got the latest versalink software, the final version of the one model we
tested last week. They fixed, uh nothing really. But Christina did a full
test and I did sanity on everything else. Boom. Done.
We also got the revised D5.6 final, so I'll do a sanity on that for Gina
tomorrow.
Finished the next chapter too, but I only had a little to go. Didn't
proofread it.
Went over to the church, untangled their wi-fi situation and set up an
extender. Did the usual on the office PC. Ugh, got home at 6:30.
Ate dinner. Put in my electric usage.
Checked sites.
Tues:
Spent part of the morning making a video about the behavior of the
versalink. If you release a job that can't print one way you get one error
message and the system times out as normal. If you do it another way you get
a different error massage and it doesn't time out. Neat.
I also did the sanity for the last release of D5.6, and asked Gina if what I
had done was enough. She did not answer. I take her silence as assent.
Then I did a good deed, helping someone gather information for a customer.
It was Christina who realized the machine was set for SIPRnet plugins
somehow and that's why it wouldn't take the plugin we were using. Stupid
thing, the error message means nothing.
Then another good deed, helping Kathy (wow, that's a name I haven't heard
since Covid) install the driver to get the serial cable working. That I
actually managed.
Did some writing, ate one of the mac and cheese and then a salad. So
basically I had trash food for breakfast because I brought one home last
night, lunch, and dinner. Neat!
Went out to see internet lady, got her stuff all set.
Back here, checked sites, and videos. One call. Oh, I sprayed the ivy, yes
it is ivy, hopefully they're dead by Saturday so I can take care of it.
Had a long Risk of Rain 2 session, got the last character, and Sean and I
won it. Mizzy got killed by something.
Wed:
Had the man in to look at the printers I screwed up, they're up and running
again. He said trying to do an upgrade was flaky before this so it probably
isn't my fault.
Finished up what I can write of the Emberhaven tale.
Attended a meeting about the expanded cloning feature. Not supposed to get
it until October so should we look at it? What's going on with 7.6 stuff
anyway?
Went to my second job. She somehow got a proxy server turned on, with
numbers that were not even a real IP address so.... At least the error
message in the browser lead me in that direction. Well done, browser error
message. It wasn't far from me either so I was home around 5:00.
Checked the ivy, no change.
Checked sites, had three calls. A guy with a fire stick, it's working now.
York, they think they aren't getting messages but maybe no one is leaving
them? And a question about AVG which I removed. Done.
Then some warframe.
Thurs:
Hey, you know what is out of stock again? That gear I ordered for the
snowblower. It was in stock when I ordered it, but it's been like two weeks
and hasn't shown up. I checked the site again and boom, it's not available.
Will I get one this year? It's a plastic wheel, come on!
Did some lab stuff today. Like I took all the extra toner and waste bottles
and fusers off the shelves and piled up those we had actual machines to put
them into in one pile. So then we would only have one place to look for
stuff when we need something. Smart, right? I got one shelf of good stuff,
vs. 3 shelves of stuff we can't use. Why do we have all this junk, and how
do we get rid of it? Sadly our lab manager is going to be out a long time
he's having some kind of heart surgery. Well, it's not in the way or
anything so...
I also stuck bar codes on the machines. It was an idea I told him before
when he was doing inventory. "Just put a bar code on the machine, you can
scan it and get the room done in a few minutes." He never did this, so I
figured I would. He can do the other rooms, but at least he can get the
serial numbers from my devices with the push of a button.
Otherwise meetings. The usual. Gathered the plants up. My tray has a hole in
it, I'll have to switch it for another one tomorrow. I have another one. I'm
watering them from the bottom, like at home, because the water just runs
through the pots they're so smol. But they stay wet when they can suck water
up from below.
Came back here, two calls. One lady wants a laptop, refurb, and good old
York still hasn't figured out how to turn the answering function back on for
his phone. It's probably one button on the phone. You just press it. How
does the man dress himself? Can he not look at the manual? Can he not go to
the website of the manufacturer and look it up? Does he not have a young
niece or nephew, or a grandchild of two years old that could figure it out
for him? I mean it's a phone, how complex can it really be?
Checked sites, videos. (I had salad at work)
So made the calls. Laptop lady was out, she's calling me back.
York man didn't want to go over there and look at the manual to turn his
answering machine back on, and revealed he bought a different phone. A
muli-line phone? What? You only have one phone number, dude. No one is going
to be calling a second line. And spectrum can "do it remotely" but you only
have two copper wires running from the box to the phone. That's not
"multi-line." It's madness. He has no idea what the heck he's doing.
Won Risk of Rain 2 with a melee character. Huh, I guess it can be done.
So let's look at the future, if time can even be said to exist. Not sure
what I'll work on tomorrow. But I will go shopping, and see my parents. No
game. Maybe some No Man's Sky?
Saturday I'm going to york to push a button on his phone to turn his
answering machine back on, and over to the bishop's house to check out his
home pcs.
I'll also start moving the trees over, maybe make some bread, and ice cream
before it becomes winter again.
Lots of rain in the forecast, let's see if we see any of it.
See you all next week.
