Fri:
Finishing up the new onedrive stuff. Even loaded a D2.9 device just to see
if it would break. It seemed to work okay, so that is at least a
possibility. We don't get much call to change D2.9 stuff and I think some
models are end of life maybe next year? So there may be very few of them,
relatively, in the field.
Wrote a few more problems up, but I think that's all for testing it at the
moment. We'll get at least two more releases though. Not all the features
have been put in, and there should be plenty of bug fixes for the last
release as there are none or at least very few in this one. They were having
trouble getting in what they promised so there wasn't time for bugs I guess.
Not much else exciting.
Did the shopping and saw my parents.
Came back, checked sites, got ready for game. We took an artifact of magic
away from a kid that was abusing it. Sorry kid, if you had not killed people
and just kept it quiet, you could have been a magic user for a long time.
Thankfully poison saved the day, we didn't have to fight him or anything.
Sat:
Did a lot of things;
Cut the back lawn, and did more weeding. Some tiny berries coming along and
there's plenty of new stalks for next year. The back is filling up a bit
more too, but it still doesn't seem like as many as I've had in the past.
We'll see how that goes.
Played some CrossCode, trying to get through the ice dungeon.
Watched a TV series from 2021.
Ripped some CDs.
Moved my pictures around on the upstairs machine. May as well have some more
variety up there.
Won Remnant rather suddenly, I didn't even realize it was going to be the
end boss! Sean and I both died, of course, but Mizzy won through it and we
watched the very glitchy ending.
Sun:
Wanted to start the next part of the 3D print, but it's stuck on my work
machine! I never uploaded it to dropbox apparently. How dumb is that?
Whoops, dumber than I thought, I later learned (Monday) that I had the file,
it was just _01 on the end because that's how the auto save thing works. I
forgot about. So I could have done it after all. Sigh.
So the most worthwhile thing I did was to make a pie.
I did put up some posters upstairs too, they had been just laying in the
bottom of a closet up there so I figured why not?
Otherwise I just read the Invincible comic. Thought I had it all. Not so
much, I guess. Or did it just end on that note and there are no more? I'll
have to look into it.
Mon:
No haul this morning. Not much work to do either. With the versalink stuff
done for the moment and all the testing I can think to do on the new
OneDrive app I just went back to writing.
Got the next chapter done and looked ahead. It's already long enough, longer
than I expected at this point, so I figured why not just jump to the end?
The stuff I had planned (two more chapters) wasn't interesting enough to
develop if I don't have to, so I started writing the last two chapters.
Came back here, checked sites, had dinner. No calls, but I called the people
back from before that I didn't reach yesterday. I reached one, the guy that
bought the house with the indoor pool I saw for sale once. Yeah, weird
story. Don't exactly know what his problem his, I spoke to his wife. I'm
going there tomorrow.
Read more Invincible because I found the rest of it.
Then went to bed.
Tues:
Not much at work until the afternoon, when there was everyone clamoring for
my attention at once. What?
I had a meeting request, Gina wanted info about a demo for the voice people,
another person wanted info on VersaLink bugs, then another person wanted to
know about 2.0 translation. Come on! I mean I got it all done sure but maybe
space it out a little bit?
Finished the next chapter and maybe a page of the next one, which should be
the last one. Neat.
Went home, ate dinner, then arrived at 5:00 to the big house. His stupid
cameras aren't working, I hate those things. His Win 8 machine is not doing
the updates, it just walks them back. He agreed to putting in an SSD, the
machine is decent otherwise so I brought it home (yuck) and am transferring
his stuff now. Then I'll do the Win10 upgrade and hopefully that will solve
some of his issues. He's got a lot of stuff to move, not enough to fill the
SSD or anything but more than the average person. It says 48% complete so
it's good.
I hope to finish it tonight. I've already got Thursday booked from like two
weeks ago so I can't take it back then. Ugh.
Checked sites. Made calls, helped one person over the phone, another said
she wanted me to call back Thursday, didn't reach another person.
Ugh, it's almost 11:00. I hate windows.
And it was past 11:00 when I finally went to bed, it was at 87% of
installing the latest windows.
Wed:
Got up at like 4:00 AM and checked on it. Back to the black screen issue,
eh? Neat.
Solved that before work, I reloaded classic shell. That got me the start
menu back and solved the black screen issue. But the settings still won't
open. Neat.
Looked that up at work. As usual with windows issues it could be any number
of causes and fixes. Because of course that's the case.
Not much work today. Wrote the last chapter, so it's giving it the old
collage read through and we'll post it.
Did have a meeting about the new spec for the the thing that went out
already, because that's how software is made.
Otherwise, not much.
Came home a bit early. Tried the tips on getting the apps to work, because
it was all windows "apps" that don't work, not just the settings. You know,
an integral part of windows? That they sacrificed the control panel for, but
not really? That one? One of the command line "powershell" commands did work
to get it back. Still couldn't open any "apps" which was weird, but the
settings opened so good enough. I hooked it back up,
started a backup to the drive (oh, the machine has 6 SATA ports, but only
room for two devices. Great work there, Gateway. I taped the SSD to the HD
which is fine, just fine. It's not going anywhere.) and called the person.
He could take it back. Thank you. Get it out of here. Drove 20 minutes to
get there, waited another 20 minutes for him to arrive, and 20 minutes back
home by 6:00. Neat.
Checked sites, had dinner. Reached the guy I've been trying to reach (who
called like 3 times today?) he was in Wegmans. Where else would you be at
7:00 PM on a Wednesday? He's calling me back.
Called the 16th lady, made sure we were still on. We are. Ugh, she wants me
to come to her place after going to the work place for something. I still
have someone to call that night, please don't have a bunch of crap, please?
And another place to go Saturday, "it's slow" yeah well it's a PC what do
you expect?
The guy called at 8:45. Said he was near his computer so I could get on any
time, and then hung up on me. I dialed him back. He did not answer. Is he...
stupid? Does he not understand this is a team activity, that we need to do
together? Why did he not answer his phone? He must have had it in his hand.
He did not call back by 9:00. Unbelievable.
Thurs:
Meeting day, so we had two meetings, the one about the onedrive app we
haven't gotten yet, it's being delayed by bugs, and the usual status
meeting.
I did some work on D7.6 as Gina had said we could take a look some days ago
and I forgot. Christina reminded me. That feature looks good, I couldn't
finish the test because I don't have access to our iPad it's been locked up
of course. Wouldn't want someone to steal an old iPad! Whatever.
Got a haul today! 2 big salads, 3 little salads, some chips, a package of
cookies, two banana muffins, two hot dogs, various other sandwiches. Nice.
So I had a hot dog, oh and a thing of cheesecake, and the chips. And a salad
for dinner.
Did some reading.
Went to second job, way down in victor. A couple of all in one PCs with
laptop drives. Ugh. Slow. Going to replace the drives and add more RAM, she
was using enough tabs to drive edge up to 1GB of RAM by itself. Sheesh. No
thank you.
Came back. Checked sites, had pie.
Ordered stuff for the athletic campus. Made my calls. A printer that wasn't
plugged in. An incorrect setting in thunderbird. And the guy who hung up on
me yesterday. He was again heading home so we'll see if he calls and
actually stays on the line tonight.
Let's look to the future. Seeing my parents tomorrow, not sure what work
I'll be doing. We won't get the onedrive thing, maybe more versalink 2.0
stuff? Going to the bank, giving them my 401k check from my previous
employer. My current one will still have stuff put into it until the end of
this month.
Then Saturday is two calls. Probably a movie with my parents. Hopefully some
Dr. Who with my father on Sunday? We'll see. Then going to Sean's for the
new card game experiment on Monday. It's a day off. Somewhere in there I
should do the lawn and see to the weeds. No printing of gifts this week, I
won't have the time.
Dentist next week too. That's always fun. That I guess covers it.
Oh, the printer guy finally got ahold of me. Check this out. Printer was
connected with USB, right? But it said it was offline. I had him reseat the
cables on both ends. No luck. Did other stuff, no luck. Couldn't figure it
out and he said he couldn't wait until Saturday. So I figured I would set it
up wireless as he had it as an option. I started that process, downloaded
the setup app, ran it, and it found it on USB. Uh, no? Windows, if it's on
USB then it's on USB. Find it! Nope. But the setup did so it ended well.
Stupid thing.
And that's the end of this madcap adventure. Hope June is treating you well
it's half over. More than. See you all next time.
