Fri:
Wrote the bugs I needed to write.
Worked on making the new card with the new software. I think it went okay?
There was an error I had to work around. It was my own fault, but the error
of course wasn't all that helpful, nor was looking up the error which put me
on totally the wrong track. Essentially I hadn't filled in the email address
when I made the user, and the error said nothing about that so I had to to
track down what was going on myself. Thanks, MS.
Walked all of level 2 building 207 because I couldn't find the 100s cubes.
Turns out if I had gone right and followed the wall from the door I would
have been fine. Who knew? Handed the card over, along with my fears that,
having made the card incorrectly we will implement the card incorrectly, and
then any customers who use it will be very confused about why it doesn't
work. So that's a thing.
Bought a black shirt for the party tomorrow at good will.
Did the shopping.
Saw my parents.
Back here, checked sites, got ready for tomorrow.
Tried on the shirt. Cat hair was immediately attracted to it by the
strongest force in the universe. The attraction betwene cloth and cat hair.
I don't think it has a scientific name but someone should look into it. Then
Tales.
Sat:
Did the cooking and chopping for later. Turns out I got way too much. But
with all that stuff to eat at work, how am I going to get rid of it? I guess
I could freeze the meat again, maybe the onions?
Did some Tales.
Then left for the party. Did a dice game. A bean planting game. Ate yummy
food, sorry I forgot the salsa it was still on the counter sigh, and watched
a ridiculous but very funny movie.
Something quite fun happened on the home though. Some nut blew past me on
the express way, and I mean blew past me. How funny was it, then, that a car
was stopped by a police office some ways down the road that I'm pretty sure
had the same tail lights? 10/10, would root for the police in that one
instance only. #thereisjustice
Sun;
Checked sites.
Watched a movie. Turned out to be surprisingly good. A classic "beauty and
the beast" tale, only this time on the internet!
Played some Tales. Having gone into space I now get to go back to exactly
where I had been before. Neat.
Got ready for tomorrow.
Two calls over the weekend. Both just questions so nothing for Monday so
far.
Then did some Tina's with the others. Opened more sections of the map and
found a meteor spell I like better. It's not as strong but I get three of
them before I have to recharge it, so that works.
Mon:
Very gray to start our May. Sent my list of bugs to the people concerned
about such things, after Christina did. Now time to start the second round
of testing, doing everything I did on the b/w machine on the color one.
Neat! I lie though, I'm not doing the full test, just making sure the
functionality is there.
But I didn't do that, because we got the final release of D5.6 (the final
release of the final D5.6 I might remind you) so I did the ID card copy
stuff... again. What a shock, it was fine. I also messed with
making a card for a guy, but the cards all seem to be read only? I tried a
different kind of card and got the cert on it, but can't log in with it.
Tells me the server isn't ready or something, some error I've never seen
before. But my other card (the expired one that shouldn't log in, go
figure) does log in successfully so I did set it up right. Something with
the cert?
Also had a boring "demo" of the new embedded fax stuff. That just dragged
on.
So yeah, a great all around day.
Came back, checked sites, watched videos, had the last slice of pie.
Tues:
Some general stuff, like helping Dinesh with the card I made yesterday. I
guess it's not a PIV card after all but it's all I can offer him at the
moment.
Organized my inbox, it was getting out of hand again.
Did some writing.
Came back here, checked sites, videos. No calls. Got ready for tomorrow so
I can do Tina's tonight.
I did take a call though, a woman with an expired McAfee of 25 days and
her firefox was hanging asking to be the default browser. Of course she
was hard of hearing, it took 20 minutes just to me me on her system. 20
minutes of work later and it was fine.
Wed:
Helped move two new printers into the lab, and move the scrap out. One of
the new machines was a 220v device and we wanted only 110v because we have
very few 220v outlets. As one does in the US. But we did get one at the
end of the day. So I'll have to help box the old one up and get the
new-new one out.
Mostly writing today. I finished the chapter I started yesterday and a
whole one for today. Nice.
Otherwise not much else exciting.
Came back here, checked sites.
Took another call, the same people as yesterday, this guy with a Mac that
had like 5 printers on it? I had him remove them all and just put one
back.
Thurs:
Meeting day. Had a +1 meeting just to make up for all those weeks of only
having the one. It was a demo.
Guy came and took the 220v machine back, I unpacked the 110v machine as
far as I could. Testing someone elses' device for Kevin I noticed a bug.
Once my machines are up I'll record it and submit it. Make sure to remind
me to do that.
Otherwise a little writing, maybe only two pages? I had to proofread the
last two chapters I didn't get to do it yesterday.
Loaded the latest D4.0 but then Don said to hold off testing the fax thing
until Monday. Suits me my man.
Watered the plants. Had the last salad, which was good they were starting
to turn to evil.
And came back here. Had one call today, boo! He was like, what if I came
over right now? Uh, no? Who even thinks of that? But of course I said
fine, like a moron. His problem was... nothing. Yes, we turned it on
(which he said it wouldn't) off again, rebooted a few times. I did update
his BIOS so it would stop complaining. He could not demonstrate for me any
issue. So... yeah. Go figure.
Checked sites, videos.
Got ready for tomorrow.
Looking to the future I don't think there's any work to do tomorrow but
we'll see.
Of course doing the shopping, and seeing my parents.
Saturday I'll need to cut the lawn. As I won't be able to Sunday. It's
mother's day so we'll do the usual going to Clarence I expect. Huh is it
really an hour away?
Otherwise that's about the first week of May. It's 120 degrees in some
parts of India so that's probably fine. The market is down a thousand
points so I don't even want to look at today's losses. And Roe Vs. Wade
will probably be overturned, the dream of every Republican for the last
forty years. Don't worry they will immediately put in place a
kind of "universal" "healthcare" giving new parents the benefits other
countries enjoy like lots of paid time off, even for fathers, low cost,
high quality care including daycare service- one moment I'm being handed
something. And it seems they're not going to do that. So increasing the
burden on the poorest families yet again it is. Well done, full marks.
