2022-04-28:
Had a meeting about future testing. Because we couldn't get some class of device out fast enough we created a whole new class of device, making a ton of work for ourselves. What? No, I don't understand it either. Anyway, we have 12 things (I think, maybe more? Maybe less, it's not clear) to make sure were "ported" to this "new" product. This versalink junk just has to go away. Please? Some machines are not supported earlier than others, then this one that's going to have to be supported for years because it's "new" why do we do this to ourselves?
Wrote 1.5 chapters.
Only other thing of note was the usual "be ethical!" "training" we have to go through every year. It was unchanged from last year and still not relevant because I don't do hiring, I don't look at the books, and I'm not traveling to foreign lands to bribe polititons to help us open manufacturing plants. So a waste of time all around.
Went to the bank, saw my parents.
Came back, checked sites.
Then did game with the others. We won! And thanks to backgrounds and such no one died. We lost our powers and now have years and years of therapy ahead of us to work through all the violence we witnessed and people we saw getting killed right in front of us.
Sat:
Did a ton of cleaning. Vacuumed the floor three times, was still getting cat hair.
Straightened out the cables. Put all RCA cables into their own box(s). Anyone need any RCA cables? I have long ones, short ones, thicc ones, thin ones. Two boxes of them. Help me I have a problem.
All clean again. Put stuff out the car now that it wasn't freezing. Tomorrow should be warmer though, going to do the mopping then. And clean the garage floor out. But for now the house is pretty good.
Played some Tales. I beat the last lord but the game isn't over.
Made a pie.
Checked sites, my parents came, we had the movie.
Then did more Tina's.
Sun:
Did some planting, as it was nice out. I found my seeds from the milkweed pod and planted them, and watered the berries I had saved from last year in the dirt. Hopefully this has simulated them falling to the ground and freezing naturally and they will grow.
Then cleaned the garage floor. I didn't mop it, just swept it out. And used the leaf blower. It looks better.
Had lunch.
Washed the indoor floors. Why does it look like I just smushed the dirt around rather than picking it up? The water got dirty, so I know the floors got cleaner.
Then sorting some stuff out in Tina's and back to Tales. How much more of the game do I have to go? Honestly the 40 hour adventure of beating the lords was more than good enough, Bandai. Maybe the reason games are so expensive to produce nowadays is because they never end! Ever think about that?
Dinner.
Getting ready for the week. Last week of April.
Mon:
Let's talk food waste. As I walked in I saw the guy standing at the self serve food mart thing (our little restaurant has yet to open again) and he grabbed a garbage bag bulging with stuff and tossed it into the trash. "Oh, I know what's in there," I said to myself. "And soon, it's going to be mine!" So I waited about ten minutes, walked out of the lab, turned left, turned right, turned right again to where the can was, halls were empty, grabbed the bag. I saw a second bag but was carrying an entire box of KitKat so I couldn't grab it. Made another loop, snagged the second bag and a bunch of loose stuff. Didn't want to linger by the garbage can so I didn't get everything. Eh, I saved all this:
That's a lot of food.
Shoot now that I think about it, the same probably happened for the other station at the opposite end of the building. If it's purge day, then it's purge day am I right? Huh.
Turned out I was correct. This one was easier, the can is open so I just walked past and yanked it up. So the pictures above are the total amount I got, at both places. Look at the waste. And that's just one building, one location. Horrific. I don't need to buy food for a month. Going to see if Adnan wants any. Here's the real kicker. The yogurt I had for lunch has a date on it three weeks into the future. The future. You really won't be back to restock in three weeks? Okay. I mean he's being a dick about it. If the stuff isn't yet expired put it out for free on the island. It'll be gone in a day believe me, and yeah you may make less money that day but you will gain in good will. Think of it as advertising, getting someone to try the product and maybe next time they'll pay for it. I mean this was going to waste anyway, so clearly you're okay with the loss. Give it to us or have Xerox buy it and put it out for it. It's bonkers.
Didn't get the release in the early morning hours, so was just waiting for it to show up.
Did get the release a bit later. I got through releasing print jobs and length of SNMP password. Only problem was some text not being translated. Otherwise looks good. Plenty more to do tomorrow, got a code I needed for the new device so I can do SIPRnet upgrade and removal procedure test. Should be "fun."
Ate one of the salads and came home for pie. Checked sites, and huh, Musk bought twitter. There really wasn't something, I don't know, more useful to society that you could have done with...
forty four billion dollars?
Because I could think of a few things. But you do you, Musk, hope it's the next MySpace not that you would probably even notice. You'd just take it as a loss for tax reasons.
Several calls tonight. I'm going someplace nearby tomorrow.
Another was scanning by a woman in Florida now.
Then just checking a machine that got hit with a scam popup.
Raining, it'll be much colder tomorrow. The lab, usually a freezer, was an oven today. Almost 90! Odd.
Tues:
Spent a bit of time at the start moving stuff around. We got a very large order of paper in, some very odd sizes, like 12x18 and 13x19. Can that stuff even fit in our printers? I don't think it can, not most of them. Very odd.
Then more new versalink machine stuff. Got more done but not all of it. I'm actually looking at code that's not even in the mainstream release yet.
Ate more yummy trash food.
Went to see the lady with the full disk. It was pretty full. But full of junk, so I managed to free up half her disk by getting rid of it.
Came back here, had pie, got ready for tomorrow so I could do Tina's with the gang.
Wed:
When I got up I blearily asked myself "did the traffic guy just say snow?" And he had! It was snowing. Yay.
More work on the new feature. Got through a lot of it. Most, in fact. But not before a useless demo (at 8:00 that I missed 15 minutes of because I was talking with Christina about something) that I didn't know was going on until 8:15. Neat. It was just the tired old ID card copy stuff and they still can't figure out if invisible apps should go to the bottom or not. It's been months people, this is a port, it should work the same way it did the first time.
Ate more trash food, and came home.
Went to Wegmans that is, to get fake sugar. Otherwise, no more lemonaid.
Then I came home. Had pie, checked sites. No calls, played some Tales. 20 minutes to do Rinwell solo advanced coliseum. That can't be right.
Thurs:
Finished up the first round of testing on the black device. I think. I need to look the list over, make sure we got everything. I have some bugs to write too, I guess they want bugs. After Christina is done we get to trade machines and do at least a partial test of the whole darn thing again. Yay!
No morning meeting, had the afternoon one, watered the plants. Shoot, I forgot to get tomorrow's meal out of the freezer. Oh well, it's fine.
Went to the farm store, they have cute chicks as usual for this time of year. Most of the barrels were active but one group decided, as a group, it was nap time. They were all snuggled together.
Got cat stuff, they are still super low on it. But I got enough food and litter for the usual order.
Back here, checked sites.
Did some Tales, beat up the first big enemy I saw in the game finally. The game likes to do that. Show you something you can't possibly beat for 40 hours just to taunt you. Oh, you want to enter that shrine? Be prepared to get crushed because everything inside is level 60 and you're level 35. Sucker.
No calls today. Yay!
Looking to the future I see work continuing tomorrow. I'll write up the bugs first of course.
Then shopping, no bank, seeing my parents. And no game, as that's all done. It's Mizzy's birthday tomorrow so we'll see her Saturday for her party.
Then we're into May. Maybe it'll stop snowing. I did find mosquito larva in my traps, they got dumped out right quick. Where did they come from, I ask myself? There can't be adult mosquitos flying around already, can there? Weird.
