2022-04-21:
Fri:
Not much at work, I did have a meeting with Joe and some others about the
new cards.
And I figured out I had to use the mini-driver I already had on the system,
nothing was installed by the new software.
It does see the card, but apparently there's another utility that may be
more fully featured they can get me. So I'm holding off on putting any certs
on the card. Really wish we had a sample card I could look at, that a
customer was going to use. I do it wrong, and the implementation is wrong
and it's all my fault. Neat huh.
Did the shopping, saw my parents. got the cruddy pc to look at.
Got home, blew the ash out of the PC. Tried to get into it.
No game, it was canceled a little earlier because Jon.
Looked at PC. It's messed up. It has 8GB of RAM but "reserves" 6Gb of it
leaving (this is math) 2GB for the system. It's painfully slow. I added 4GB
of RAM and now it's "reserved" 10GB leaving (you guessed it) 2GB. What? I
don't see any solution online either. By that I mean I see several
solutions, because it's windows, but none of them have helped or seem
relevant. So I just have to put up with it. It doesn't really have anything
on it, there are no bookmarks so this folder with passwords written randomly
on it is basically useless because one would have to struggle through what
these random things mean. No thanks.
Sat:
Finished up the PC. Took a while because of how slow it is. Not much on it,
no passwords saved and no bookmarks so if someone wants his accounts they're
going to have to struggle though all the "notes" that are left.
Played a bunch of Tales.
Then went over to do Emberhaven.
Beat up the boss, got some locations to go to, didn't start them though.
Sun:
Thought of two things I should have done before we left town in the game.
It's fine, we'll be back to town before long and I can do them but one of
them was fairly obvious and I was smacking my forehead that I didn't see it
earlier.
Easter. Not much else I can say there. Went over to see the family, had a
nice meal.
Got back here in the evening, no calls from today but I did call someone
about a "printer." Another person that has supposedly "reinstalled" it but
somehow got it pointing to an LPR printer. But there was the USB port there
too so how did she manage that? Erasing the LPR one and using the proper one
made it spit out paper. Blank paper, but the ink cartridge light was
flashing and it's 20 years old (no really) so she's going to change the
cartridges and see if that helps. They still make ink for a 20 year old
printer? Wow.
Then played some Tina's with the others. Didn't expect to but I was ready
for Monday at that point so it was fine.
Mon:
You know the drill. Not much exciting at work. Back to waiting for the next
release of product.
Finished up my reading, back to Midveil at this point.
Turned in my lottery tickets and got my $2.00 on the way home.
Checked sites, ate dinner as usual.
A few calls today actually. The lady from yesterday with the printer.
despite not showing a printer in the window Chrome nevertheless printed to
the one I deleted? She said she turned her machine off, it should be gone.
Stupid windows.
A lady with a loose monitor cable, so that one was easy.
And a place 30 minutes away tomorrow that wants files moved to a flash
drive? Huh? Should be great.
Worked on backstory for Orchid.
Tues:
Not much at work, no Adnan or Christina? I guess they ware waiting to see if
they have Covid. Neat.
Worked on the next chapter, and started the next.
Very late getting home, flash drive turned into phone. I showed the lady how
to do the copy and she took notes, and then it was "oh my phone is out of
space what can we do" so I had to look at that whole thing. Trying to figure
out what was using the space on the phone part vs the card part (which was
easy) was not easy. Didn't exactly manage it but did free up at least a gb
of space.
Sites while dinner.
Then some Tina's.
Wed:
Most fun at work today was getting a new build of the ID card copy with
supposedly all the translations in. Spoiler, they were not. Chinese still
doesn't work. I had to re-open someone else's bug and provide a screenshot
with a "but what about this one?" vibe.
Otherwise finished the next chapter and (predictably) started the next.
Went to see speaker guy, oh look it was unplugged.
Came back. Checked sites, ate dinner, and then started cleaning up and
rearranging the upstairs room. Want to get more use out of it, hopefully the
cold doesn't bother me anyway, got it 60% done? It was pretty bad.
Also got the memory for this laptop finally, so took it all apart and got it
ready to go. Or so I thought, I was doing updates and it's been stuck here
at "getting windows ready" for some time now. Neat.
Well, it's getting kicked in the head.
It booted, so I guess it's okay.
I finished the upgrades and left it out for him to pick up.
Thurs:
Finally got more info about the upcoming fax integration so I made what test
cases I could. What exactly is supposed to be in there? Who knows! The
developer says they're only responding to certain things but the spec says
they should respond to more. Well, it's getting written up if you don't,
dude.
Did more writing, of course. Figured out how to track missing person to evil
lair, now just need to break into evil lair and not get caught.
Had the usual afternoon meeting, no morning meeting. Watered the plants.
Went shopping because I won't be able to tomorrow. Went to good will, got
one tiny thing. Went to Savers, got nothing. Went and bought speaker wire.
Got home, used speaker wire as it was intended, room upstairs looks good and
seemingly can be used for purpose now.
Some bad news, James was hit and run, a strange situation all around, don't
have full details but the person that did it was caught, ironically. Huh.
And why does dishwasher sound like it's on the last legs? Odd.
Checked sites, ate dinner.
Tomorrow work, nothing planned for it. Perhaps going to dinner with folks,
don't know yet but James will be fine so maybe?
Otherwise game after that.
Nothing much for the weekend. No calls today. No game until next week.
Probably have my parents over, now that I think about it.
Still cold and yucky out.
Looks like we're speeding through April, only one more week. See you for at
the end of it.
