2022-03-31:
Fri:
Busy today, got the next D5.6 build in. Did the ID card copy test again.
Seems fine. Christina got the other test done so I don't have to worry about
that when she's on vacation.
A bit of writing and fighting with stupid Kofax to get the needed serial
number. Hey companies, if you don't sell your product anymore, just unlock
it to run forever or whatnot. You can do that, right? No support or
anything, just let us use it.
Returned the cards too, my badge does work over there. Weird.
Did the shopping, bank, dropped stuff off. Aldi was out of salt. How is that
even possible? Fake sugar I can almost understand but salt? It's one of the
most common things an the planet. We've got oceans of the stuff. Deserts of
the stuff. I mean I know it has to get here but it's just odd to think
about. I still have some, I only use it in my pie crust and even then only a
sprinkle so it's fine it's just so odd I mentioned it.
Back here, got the laptop in, looked it over so I can trade the woman who
just can't handle the display being 1" smaller than before.
Also got in the RAM for grandpa's old PC, but I'll look at that later.
Found out my dashcam wasn't recording anymore because I wanted to look at a
near collision. (not with me, it was the car ahead of me, both sides were
rushing a light and the guy in front of me was turning left.)
Installed Tiny Tina's Wonderland.
Checked sites, ate dinner, and did game. We got yanked into an adventure in
punching stuff. I punched stuff! I did good. We were helping out an angel
and had to fight some demonic robots. Luckily my metal nature spell could
hurt them where my usual electricity spell could not. But the robots got
punched, the guy controlling the robots got punched, everybody got punched.
Sat:
Cleaned up a little. But only a little, didn't want to go overboard this
week.
Started my handbrake queue, it's been building up for months. It took until
Sunday to work through it, shrinking blue ray sized files down. Even on an
M1 it was a lot of work. But my shrink folder is finally empty. But I
figured as I would be gone part of the day it was time to get that done.
Put the drive in the all in one from my grandfather, got it up and running.
Didn't give me too many problems. His mouse sucks, it's getting trashed. It
double clicks all the time, how did he use this crappy thing? But it's all
loaded up and just needs a new owner.
Watched a ladybug episode or two.
Called the vet, they had already canceled the shot appointment for the
checkup appointment, which they did schedule. They're on the ball over
there! I'll have to leave work an hour early that day.
Ate lunch.
Picked up sticks from the back yard and cleaned up the garage a little. The
floor will need a good cleaning.
More ladybug and then leaving.
We got through half the dungeon? It was rather epic though, we beat up some
dudes and I raised them as zombies! Then I sent them to attack the next
room. But not through the door, that's so pedestrian. I shifted them up to
the astral plane, then back down when they were in position. So to the
enemies their former companions appeared out of nowhere as zombies to attack
them! Classic. Sean is adjusting the difficulty, not putting in all the
forces the game itself does, because even one room can take hours to clear
despite it being 20 seconds in the world itself. I didn't mind it, we all
get to contribute to a combat so it works out.
Then did some Tiny Tina's.
Sun:
Snowing! Yay! Wait what? Snowed all day, pretty hard at times. Yuck.
Mostly trying to finish Miraculous today so I can switch over to the games
Sean gave me. Of course I want to finish Control first, and Ni No Kuni needs
to be finished I'm not even to the point I'm at when my PS 3 broke down.
Games are way too long now!
But I did clean the mouse, check sites, straighten the house up, watched it
annoyingly snow all day, and make a few calls.
Finished Season 3. I'll go back to gaming before looking into getting the
next seasons. I want to watch them but it must be done.
Going to deliver the laptop tomorrow.
And just answered a printer question for another lady.
Did some Borderlands and went to bed.
Mon:
Had some meetings in the morning, just about the bugs we had written for the
ID card copy feature placement.
Nothing too serious.
Then worked on the next chapter. Finished it and started the next.
Still snowing when I got out, it's annoying and keeps coming. It's still not
very much but it's blowing around and such. Go away!
Over to set up the laptop, that went fine, only took about an hour.
Then back here. Checked sites, ate dinner, and played some Control. Also
figured out a little more about how to most effectively play my Tiny Tina
character and looked into it more.
Put an SSD in this lady's old laptop, got windows installed on it. What am I
going to do with two laptops now? Ugh, hopefully someone will want them
soon.
No calls today, didn't have to do that.
Tues:
Was pretty busy today. Both Kevin and Joe had stuff they wanted me to do, so
I had to do it. It's sorta my job.
Testing the card reader plugins, again, even though Christina tested them on
like 15 different families of printers. Oh wait, there's another one that so
old it's going end of support in a year, but we better make sure it works on
that one too! Setting it up was a pain but at least it accepted my clone
file.
The other task was trying out every combination of 3 settings, with 4
possibilities, 2 possibilities, and 2 possibilities, to see if we could get
the machine to print a certain way. We can't! And really why would it work
that way, you would have to somehow send the paper around the print path
again after printing, slowing it way down.
So those both took some time. I don't think I did much writing at all.
Came back, at least the sun was out it was still snowing in the morning. Put
the battery in the guy's laptop, finished up setting the other one up, it
doesn't seem that slow so I don't know what she was complaining about, and
eating dinner.
We'll probably do some Tiny Tina's later. We did!
Wed:
Pretty busy today too. Had two meetings, one with Joe about cards, and one
with Gina about a new feature from 2 years ago. Right. Very new. They want a
test plan but development has just started, there's no spec, and the feature
won't be delivered for two months. Uh, why? Anyway, worked on that.
I did a little writing too, the next chapter is almost done but needs a
little more.
Came back here, checked sites, ate dinner.
Trying to power through Control.
Thurs:
Fairly busy again today. After the first meeting I went to another lab to
try the matrix again on a black and white device. No change. I think Kevin
got some bad intel. The printer will deliver face up, but that's if you use
the driver so I wonder if it's not submitting the job that way? Probably. In
any case, no NVM setting did what we want. That took the rest of the
morning.
Had the afternoon meeting, watered the plants, nothing exciting. Tomorrow I
have to set up that stupid gabi system again, which will be so fun and super
easy and not annoying at all because some random person wants to see it work
or something? Will it even work? The voice stuff expired all the time, I
don't know if the non-expirering version got installed at the end. I really
don't want to have to deal with those people over there. Not looking forward
to it.
But I am looking forward to Sunday, when we get to do my taxes.
Let's see, tomorrow is the usual stuff, going shopping, seeing my parents.
Then back for game.
Saturday I'll have my parents over. No work at the moment.
Then Sunday is tax time.
Ugh, and estimated tax is due again? I thought I just sent that! Oh, it was
in January. Fine.
Gonna play a mess of Control, try and get through it so I can start Tales.
Finished it! I guess I won't need to play it over the weekend. Just as I did
- surprise Tiny Tina! So we did some of that.
And it's off to bed, as I didn't do most of my evening stuff before playing.
See you all next week. We're 1/4 the way through 2022, hope it's going well
for you. And that's no april fools.
