Fri:
No work came in. Supposed to get a new build, an early build, of D5.6 (in
fact the last build of D5.6 before we move to D7.0 for good) so we'll see
what happens there.
I did help Adnan and John (J3) get the kiosk machine working to investigate
a slow printing PDF. It's only 17 pages but takes minutes to process. Not
great. We tesed it against so many different documents too, what did we miss
that this takes so long?
One brief meeting about what answers to give Fuji, they're asking about the
size of their own plug ins? What? Anyway, we figured somes stuff out.
Otherwise reading and revising the book. Got through it, didn't get much
longer. But it's done.
Time to go back to thinking of plot for Midveil.
Went shopping, saw my parents, and got soup.
Back here I put things away and got ready for game. Hopefully it won't snow
too much, we're supposed to get a storm.
We beat up the sphyinx, which took a bit of doing and destroyed a national
monument. Whoops. But we lived, and beat up the people that came after that
and luckily no more people came after that.
Sat:
Cleared the driveway. Not snowing, but still a warning in effect.
Blower was good for more than half. Then I did the end. There was only a
coating but any resistance at all and the belt just comes off. I had to
clear it several times after that, and the rest went fine. Stupid thing.
Put the monster diaries up on the site. Go read them now. Now. Now. Read
them now! No waiting for the setting to be released, like I did for pyre.
This is too generic and no one is going to read them anyway so...
Baked cookies for the gang. Sunny, no real storm like they said so in person
is a go.
Checked sites, ate lunch.
Watched spider man movie. I won't say which spider man movie, only that the
phrase "you can't go home again" could be the tagline. Byline? Something
line.
Ordered water bed conditioner, my large stockpile is finally gone.
Puttered about until it was time to go. It was sunny when I left, but by the
time I got to his place is was really bad out. Visibility was terrible, but
I made it.
We made our characters, well, the others did mine was of course made months
ago when we first discussed the project. Stan was still working at the time
so he was last to finish, but we at least made it to the cave we need to
fight in.
Came home. Lost an hour.
Sun:
Checked sites.
Watched more Macross.
I got the battery for the laptop yesterday. I think it's the wrong one. I'm
sure he said it was internal. Apparently this same model of laptop has
variants with external and internal batteries? I found a part number
A41-x550A and A41-X550e. Super. Thanks, Asus. You're a real peach. I'll have
to call him and confirm it, but this is somewhat stupid.
Cleaned a bit.
Did some reading.
More macross.
Over to my sister's house for some kind of celebration. What was it for
again? Seeing the new cat, that's right. No wait that can't be it. Thanks
everyone!
Back here, made my calls, internet lady was fine, as I expected, and I
confirmed the battery is internal so I guess I'm stuck with this one.
Got ready for tomorrow, another week begins.
Mon:
No new builds for D5.6 existed past 3/11 which as you know is before 3/14 so
the feature isn't in. We'll have to see if there's a build today. If not I
guess I'm not testing D5.6. Christina had already loaded a machine and said
she didn't think it was in. So there.
Never came in! Whoops.
Had an announcement we don't need to wear masks anymore. So that will be
nice.
Tried to come up with plot for Midveil. I got a few more chapters worth I
think. Still need about 5 more.
Worked to try and put new certs on a card. I think I managed it, but the
printer doesn't like it anymore. Sigh.
6 weeks out to stab a needle in my kitty? Really? Tried to make the
appointment to get Squeaker his rabies shot, picked two weeks out. Reply
back was 6 weeks out. What? How is that possible, it takes two minutes. Very
strange.
Came back here, sites, videos, ate dinner and cake.
Macross.
Made two calls, one lady is going to look into a battery on her own, good
luck with that, the other was a half hour on the phone resetting an MS
password and reconnecting to the internet with the laptop and it worked.
Yay, I don't have to drive to Hilton.
More Macross. Finished it! Yay, let's go on to the next thing.
Tues:
Still no build today, so no ID card test. I did try to upgrade a card reader
but it just gave an error message. And was it useful? Of course not.
Finished scoping out the last chapters of Midveil and got half the first
chapter written. Pretty excited about that.
Came back here, one call, lady wanting a printer set up. She didn't even
try.
Otherwise the usual, sites, videos, and eating dinner.
Started season 2 of Ladybug. Had that for like a year now, finally getting
to it.
Wed:
We're still trying to get the ID card code into place I guess so nothing
about that today. Nor did Kevin get back to me about that firmware upgrade I
can't do for the card reader. Oh well.
Wrote the rest of chapter 1, chapter 2, and part of chapter 3. Nice.
Came back here, no calls, so checked sites, ate dinner, and watched more
Ladybug. There are lots of seasons now, I'm way behind. I didn't realize the
show had gone on so long.
One call, a lady with a laptop that won't turn on. Which as you all know
probably means it's time to chuck it. I'm going over there with my box of
cords to see if it's that.
Thurs:
We had the demo which went fine, which surprised the both of us because
after loading the software for ourselves, we found it was crap! Yes!
Totally. The new feature gives error messages all over the place. Not cool.
And the translation is all messed up. So we stopped, hoping this was the
"one little bug" they had to fix. There should be a new build Monday, we'll
see.
Otherwise the normal afternoon meeting, and it was fairly nice out today.
Wrote chapter 3 of the book, didn't start chapter 4. Going okay I think.
Went out to the laptop lady who had gotten her system to turn on. Sigh. Her
battery was at 0% and not charging at first. But it did start to. None of my
cables was right, it was a 45w power supply and I only had 65w and others
that didn't fit. Oh well. Took down the part numbers just in case.
Came back here, no calls, thank you. Sites, dinner, finished off the cake
from Sean. More Ladybug too.
Looking ahead probably no testing tomorrow, though maybe I'll talk to Other
Don about specs for the EIP fax thing USDA wants. See if I can start working
on test cases for it. Otherwise writing I guess.
Then seeing my parents, shopping, and back here for the Miracle game. Don't
know what's next, we left it right after beating up the golem last time.
Then one appointment Saturday, and I'll have my parents over. Squeaker has
been with me since 2009! What an old man he is now. Still awfully spry
though. Stay healthy, kitty cat. Really with his heart condition I didn't
expect him to last this long, and he seems perfectly healthy so I'm hopeful
he'll have many good years left. #everydayisagift
A few more episodes and we're headed to Friday. See you all next week.
