Fri:
As I said Thursday, I completed the test they wanted me to do. Logged in 10 times, didn't see the thing. Not sure how it said "yes" and started auto logging me in when it wasn't showing me the prompt to answer the question. But it didn't happen again, and I saw the prompt this time.
I did learn the memory error may be controlled by the printer. There's a setting for it. Why? Why is there a setting? Is this 1988 and I'm running system 6 on an SE Mac? I don't think so. It's 2021, the user should not be deciding how much memory a process gets, it should be dynamic. Having this setting, that we are now making customers worry about instead of silicon, is against every sensibility when it comes to computers. Computers should manage computer things, people should manage people things.
Finished the next chapter. Decided to switch the next two, it makes more sense that way. The big attack at the building should happen after the big embarrassment of the demon. Logical. Only 5 more chapters to go, and I'm looking good word wise. I think it's going to be fine.
Did the shopping. Saw my parents.
Came back here, checked sites, got ready for game.
Did game, didn't get too far. Took some exams, learned a holy man had been possessed and used his powers to kill other holy men. So much for "the heavens will take your power away if you misuse it" I guess.
Tried out B4B. Terrible controls, I was all over the place. Either you're not in aim mode, and you swing too wildly to be effective, or you're in aim mode and you move too slowly to be effective. And it just feels wrong. I don't like it. Maybe I'll stick to shotguns in that game instead of rifles, but there goes my bonus power. I guess I could pick another character...

Sat:
Did some cleaning, my parents are coming later.
Messed with the controls in B4B and tried another practice mission. It's a little better but still not great. It's a common complaint online by the looks of it.
Messed with my equipment in warframe. The psudo shotgun remains the superior weapon, due to the critical chance and multiplier over the 10,000 arca plasmore. Odd.
Checked sites.
Ate lunch.
Did the back leaves, a few in the front but honestly, not much use in doing the front this year. Very strange. Though I did clean up a few before, usually I do the front at least twice or three times, but not so much this year.
Went to the 2:00 appointment. This took two hours. Just to get a stupid wi-fi extender working. It wasn't set up as DHCP by default, uh why? So I figured out I had to assign an address to the adapter which worked. Then I had to choose the mode, there were 5-6 of them, I forget which. Then connect it. I could connect to the extender no problem, but it didn't seem like the extender was connected to the internet. Of course while there were tons and tons of controls for the unit, far more than any home user would never need or want, there was no status page. No way whatsoever to see what the unit was doing/thinking. Great! Finally I performed a firmware upgrade and got out my windows laptop to use the utility to set it up. The weirdest thing was with other extenders you connect to the network in the usual way. You give it the SSD and the password. This one didn't ask for the password, so how did it connect to the wi-fi? The manual implied, but did not show a screen for, asking for the password using the windows utility. (The reason I decided to use it) Didn't ask for the password that way either but it started to work so.... Was it the firmware upgrade? The second reset? (I had reset it at the start just to start from scratch again) No idea. Horrible.
Ate dinner, watched some videos until my parents arrived for the movie.
Then watched the movie! It starred my old Christmas santa face decoration! That made it the best movie ever. But it got ripped in half so it lost half a star.
Then did some back 4 blood with the others. We got through act one. The others had no complains about controls? Are they high? I still wasn't happy with mine, maybe I can tweek them some more.

Sun:
Made brownies, not pie. Need to use it up, I must have gotten that box of mix last Christmas. Using up the last of the stuff from last year, in hopes I'll get some more!
Did my paperwork for last month, no sense waiting until the last second. There were only 5 to put in.
Messed around with my warframe weapons, seeing what I can toss basically. Sadly with what I come up with in messing with my favorites I was able to take them further and decided, hey these are some good weapons too! So now I don't know what to chuck.
Played more Ni No Kuni, it takes forever to get anywhere in that game! I only just got my third character. I know I got further in my last playthrough, at least where you get the dragon. Will I be able to stick it out until the end this time? I guess we'll see.
Took care of Sunday stuff.
Two calls, so I'm doing a "tuneup" tomorrow but the second lady had solved her issue.
Shoot, do I have any SSDs in the car now? I'm not sure I do, have to look and order one if I don't.
Then some warframe with the others.

Mon:
Got in to work today and was surprised, there was hardly anyone there in the parking lot. "There are still three weeks, right? Are people starting their vacations early or something?" No. Turned out, when I got in, that at 4:00 PM on friday last week a message went out "due to the rising hospitalizations (80% among the unvaxinated, hint hint you morons) please work from home again if you can." So that's the reason. So the building will be pretty empty again probably at least until January.

Not much work wise, nothing new has come in. No new version of the scan app to play with yet.

I got the next chapter done though, missile crisis averted.

Went to see the lady about her laptop, she was running Kaspernsky (however you spell that) and AVG, so it took 10 minutes just to get the machine into a usable state. An hour and a half later I was basically done, the machine was still running pretty badly. I didn't have any SSD, I had actually written myself a note to see if I had any in the car still, I didn't. But she said she didn't mind if I took it, so I'll be able to transfer it later, here at home.

Got back here at 6:00, checked my sites and ate dinner.

Two calls. A bad drive by the sounds of it down at the psychologist place, so we'll see what's up there. I'm sure they have everything backed up. Yeah. Totally.  And an hour on the phone with a lady going over various things. She's the lady who is still running windows 7 and an XP virtual machine for a single piece of software. I mean I can't complain I kept my old machine, but then again, in my defense, it's a Mac Pro.

So now it's almost 9:00. Yay.

Tues:
Not much work, did go over our USB packet inspector in case I need it.
Got the next chapter done, should only be a few left. Meeting the president, and the attack on the control building that results in them going to Otherworld. Done.
Got my booster. No side effects yet, arm is a little sore. Lots of people coming in for them. Yay!
back to work.

Then other work which lasted until 8:00. So great. Is the drive dead or not? The machine acted like the drive was dead, it wouldn't even see it for the hardware test. Fine. Took it out, put in a drive I brought (because the guy wasn't coming with a new drive for 45 minutes. Thanks, dude. Who told you I would be there at 7:00? I would never, EVER have said that.) It installed and booted fine. I plugged the drive into the machine with USB. Came right up, seemed fine. What? How can it be not seen by the machine and seen by the machine? Can't be the cord, port, power, I'm using them on the new drive. Okay, so he comes with the drive. I get the smart idea to clone the working drive to the new drive. Simple! It works, no errors. I plug in the new drive. Machine sees it. I get a different error message, oh windows can't boot because it can't find something. What? It's a clone of the old drive, which worked until the machine didn't see it anymore. So I reloaded windows, of course you can't do a repair but it moved the old folders, I wanted their data on there so I could just copy it over. Spent 20 minutes "getting ready!" Thanks, windows. Rebooted the machine. Wiped it out. Did another install. That finally worked. Copied the stuff from the old drive with the adapter. So we have a drive that both works and doesn't, a clone that succseeds, but isn't one, and a new drive from 2020 that had a windows installation on it when I pulled it out of the bag, and took two installs to get working. Fantastic. Great night. 10/10. Would become enraged at why, oh why, I keep doing this crap.

Got home, ate dinner, no calls thank goodness, got ready for tomorrow, and managed to do a few stages of back 4 blood with the others.

Wed:
Started to hit the edge of it last night. Got right to sleep, but woke up a few times in the night. Good thing I had warm kitties to snuggle.

That said it's not bad today. I'm a little bit of everything. I had a very minor headache. The merest hint of muscle ache. A tiny bit of joint pain. A little colder than usual. (Wore my fluffiest shirt today) I'm not even being stoic or anything, I'm up and walking around after all. But it all adds up. Probably not going to do anything great today, including writing, my -2 to all actions will insure my work isn't up to the usual (low) standard. But that's fine because what do I have to do anyway?

Actually did have a thing to do, the version 0.0.9 of the scan app came out. I looked it over. Seems what they say is fixed actually got fixed, so that's good.

Meanwhile I went downhill a little. The headache got worse. Don't really understand that honestly. Is it just the body sounding the general alarm because it doesn't know what's happening? I should look that up, see if science can explain.

Science has failed me.

Came back here, checked sites, did not have calls which thrilled me, then I got one. Sigh. Just a tuneup? And he wants Saturday. Fine.

Thurs:

Turns out, spending 12 hours in bed can do you a world of good. Who knew? Of course I wasn't asleep that whole time, I kept waking up. But about 2:00 AM I realized I was feeling better. That has continued through the day and while I was not feeling 100% when I got up at 7:00, I am feeling quite normal now. In two weeks I can say I'm fully boosted. Neat.

Not much work wise, but it was meeting day, so we had four meetings. The usual two, then one right after the second one, and then one a half hour after that. Had to stay late to water the plants, and with everyone gone now I'm watering them all again. That's fine, there's far less of them now.

Not much else exciting, though indications are good in the next two weeks we'll get some "early looks" at stuff so I should have things to do before the break.

Went to Good Will one last time, got a few more things for the game and another dragon, making my plush dragon in the living room officially a collection because there's three of them.

Ate dinner, checked sites. Had only one call, just the guy from yesterday verifying Saturday morning. So that's a thing. I did get the SSDs I ordered so I started the clone of this laptop I brought home. Hopefully it goes better than the last clone I tried to do!

Looking ahead a normal Friday, going to the store, seeing my parents, then home for game. Finish up the Egypt adventure we didn't get into last time.

Then Saturday one appointment in the morning, and going to Sean's for the continuation of the Monster game.

Maybe Sunday I can do some wrapping? Oh, maybe the candy making, that has to be done fairly soon. Need to put that on the list, and see about getting the sugar free stuff. Yeah, holiday stuff sounds about right.

Hope your holiday season is going well, your tree hasn't burned down (apart for the one, which was fine, they didn't deserve one anyway) and you didn't want anything affected by any shortages like a graphics card, video game console, or car for christmas.
