Fri:
Just the usual stuff I fear. Nothing really has come in, though I did work
on the server stuff near the end of the day. It seemed to all be working, I
could log into all the machines where before I could not so... Let's hope it
continues to work after the weekend.
Lots of writing. Wrote the reaction chapter to the last chapter, which I
didn't think was going to happen so bonus chapter.
Then the "big" chapter, where [spoiler] happens.
Went shopping, saw my parents, invited to movie, and came home.
Put stuff away, checked sites. Did game. I feel like we didn't do the whole
mission, though we almost all died. Neat. Our NPC saved us by burning one of
our classmates almost to death with one attack, not that it should have
worked because of possession, but sure, we can say it did.
Sat:
Went out to email lady. Figured out her old gmail account (as it was linked
to her phone that made it easier). Set up a new gmail account, answered
questions, found her a router, (she's getting greenlight) and came home. Her
place is still a mess, and she has boxes of floppy disks she could probably
throw out at this point. Do you have any floppy disks? Throw them out.
Ate lunch, checked sites.
More spray paint on Jon's gift, think I got it as good as I'm going to.
Made brownies and muffins.
Got some new weapons cooking in Warframe, I also bought some so I'm using
all crappy weapons now. Yay? Though I like the secondary weapon, it's a
shotgun the size of a pistol. Nice.
Wrapped Sean's gift.
Watched the last What if.
My parents came over, then we did more warframe and the aliens game. Failed
the second mission, re-did the first mission to raise our "levels" whatever
that means in a shooter game.
Sun:
Got up, checked sites and worked Mizzy's gift. Sanding and painting, as I
had the paint now I figured I would make it look a little better. I'll have
to sand it and do another coat, I got some areas where's there too much. And
I left it dry for like an hour and touch it, leaving a fingerprint on it.
Sigh.
Went to lunch with my parents.
Then over to the museum. Lot of native american stuff, and science!.
That was pretty fun, not a lot of people there so we didn't run into too
many. So that was fine.
Back here, ate dinner, watched videos.
Got ready for tomorrow.
Played some of the aliens game. Mizzy's progress wasn't saved last night, so
she's now a level behind us and lost everything she picked up. Crap. We did
the first mission again, then the second one. We died again in the second
mission. Killing us on the second mission seems a bit harsh, game. I did
raise my shotgun level, so I can reload 5% faster. Think I'll even notice?
No? Okay then. (Scientifically, we don't notice things not 50% or so
different from before. You can look it up, don't take my word for it)
Mon:
Called the vet, rescheduled the appointment because they're doing a surgery
this Friday. So they get another few days reprieve. It's now Wed at 3:10.
I'll have to leave work an hour early, doesn't seem like a big deal. Maybe
I'll even get up an hour early and come in! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
no.
As far as work goes, the servers seem fine though Christina was having
trouble with one? She didn't say she still was after a reboot, so maybe it
cleared up? Otherwise nothing new came in.
Managed to finish the latest chapter, and now am to the point the notes get
a bit nebulous. Not sure what the next mission will be. Thought about it.
Didn't get anywhere.
Came home, put another coat of paint on Mizzy's gift and screwed it up as I
do with anything artistic. It's pretty ruined at the moment. Maybe I can
sand all the paint off and start again? I left it dry more than an hour, but
it was not dry underneath I guess so it looks really bad now. I'll have to
take it all off at this point, I won't be able to just patch it up. Nice.
I'll leave it dry overnight and try it tomorrow, starting with some heavier
grit and working my way down. Why can't I do anything right?
Got ready for tomorrow, 3 calls today, yay! The guy down the street has the
usual issues, so I'm going there tomorrow to see about that. The lady with
the email "hack" was still having problems. I guess a filter got put in that
sent all her new email to the trash. Figured that out. Here's a question,
she has no address book on her webmail. How did they send to anyone through
her account? It doesn't make sense. Anyway, took the rule off and she
started getting mail again. Why even do that? Isn't it a bit obvious? She
noticed something was wrong because she got no email. I don't know what
people are thinking. Then a lady with a repeating 7. I suggested for now an
external keyboard and disabling the built in one. But I didn't get very far
because it took two minutes to answer the question "does your keyboard has a
number pad" (yes, that is the level of intelligence we are dealing with
here) and then (despite her calling me) she was "serving dinner." So then
why did you call me two minutes before you were "serving dinner?" What sense
does that make? Did you think it through at all? At least my screw ups (such
as the above paint job) are me trying to be careful and think things through.
And a fourth guy called ask if I would do my job if he got a new laptop. I
assured him I would do my job. He was reassured. *shakes head*
Then did Aliens with the others. We did better, not dying horribly in the
second stage. Turrets for the win?
Tues:
Actual work news! We got a plugin for the versalink to add new cards. Two of
them, in fact. Guess how many cards worked! No, not zero silly. One. One
card worked perfectly. At least on versa. Christina tried out primelink and
while it logged in, it was complaining about certs. (What else?) I emailed
the results but got no response. Oh, and we didn't have the voice meeting
today, not that there will be anything to talk about. Why would there be?
We're having it tomorrow.
Otherwise, wrote the next chapter. It took a very different turn than I
thought, I wanted to work the lamp pull (it's a Control thing) into the
story and this was the day! It was a long chapter, and I started the next
one. I'm pretty happy with it.
Went to see password guy, reset his bank passwords, figured out his apple
password which he had for some reason changed again. He threw out the
password file I had made on his desktop so I had to go combing through his
time machine to get it back. Thanks for that. Put it in his documents
folder, he'll never find it there.
Came back, did the sanding and painting. I think a bit more sanding just to
smooth out some things and it'll be fine. I hope. I'm almost out of paint.
Checked sites, watched videos, only one call today, so called her back.
Then we killed aliens. Again we got killed at the very end. It was probably
my fault.
Wed:
More work stuff! Sorta? I proofread a document and noted something that
wasn't quite right.
Then we had the voice meeting and Don was all "I think we're done here." And
he was right. We closed up shop on the thing. It's up to them if they want
to take it further, and they're doing stuff at the customer site anyway. So
I put the machine back, (which was immediately snapped up) canceled the
meeting, and closed the task. I mean it's been two years. You can't say we
didn't try.
Otherwise, nothing else with the VersaLink stuff. Christina recalled she needed
to put the chain of trust on the device for primelink so that worked out, we
just need the other card to work and it would be fine.
Finished the next chapter. Introducing the characters for the next chapter,
basically. Whoops. Oh well, it'll be fine.
Went out to keyboard lady, her 7 key is acting up. I unplugged the keyboard,
and we ordered her a new one. Will I have to go back to put it in, despite
showing her how easy it was? Considering my own IQ dropped 10 points trying
to explain the details of hitting control A for selecting text, most
probably.
Hopefully finished up the sanding and painting job for Mizzy's gift, I think
it finally looks presentable.
Checked sites, talked to a lady with a 10 year old mac about certs, hope
putting her on 10.13 solves it because otherwise it's moving to firefox that
has a separate cert store I guess?
Thurs:
No call by the OS X lady. Maybe it did solve her issue.
Meeting day. I met with peoples, as usual. I did get told that the removal
of the checkbox should be in so I can test it. Except I can't, because the
machines are all signed out until Monday. Knew I shouldn't have given my
machine up. Oh well. That's fine. Checked the plants, not much more to tell.
Wrote the combat chapter. Once again Jesse took a fireball to the face.
Neat. Need to do something about that.
Went to the lady down the street. She was using Windows Live Mail 2011, a
ten year old product. Wonderful. I switched her to thunderbird and hope that
solves her problems. Shoot, I forgot to see if she had any address book
entries. I always forget the address book. I often forget other people know
people. Odd.
Two calls, lady from a few days ago, she's having trouble with her WLM
again, so guess what we're doing. That's right, switching to Thunderbird!
And someone "jammed up."
Checked sites, videos, ate dinner.
Called the first guy, he's not too far away, didn't get exactly what his
issue was but he wants 12:00 on Saturday. I guess that's fine.
Otherwise spent an hour on the phone with a lady (and 10 minutes) moving her
zillion of folders from Windows Live Mail to Thunderbird. Manually. Because
apparently there isn't an easy, "do this for me computer" way to do it? Why?
That's what we have computers for, to automate crap like that. Well, thanks
or whatever. She was getting the repeating message again so clearly WLM is
out from now on. Stupid manual doing crap.
Now for tomorrow, the usual, I'll stop at the bank, do the shopping, and see
my parents. Oh, we're having a anniversary lunch, not for me though it will
be 6 years in two weeks, but for others. If it is not raining. I'm bringing
my lunch just in case. So there. Otherwise, not much to look forward to. No
game, Sean is doing birthday stuff. As well he should.
This weekend I do have to do my paperwork, I've put that off enough. And
we're doing the monster game, finally moving on after 2 months of our
characters sitting outside the apartment waiting to find out who is inside.
So Saturday: 1 appointment, and Sean's house
Sunday: Paperwork.
That should about do it. Hope your Oct is going well, and you have a nice
Christmas list to send to your family, hint, hint. See you next
week.
