2021-08-12:
Fri:
More voice work, with a debug version trying out various things to solve
some of my issues.
Writing the next chapter.
Mom wasn't feeling well, so I just dropped my stuff off.
Went shopping, then came home. No cat food again? Strange, they had lots of
it the last few weeks, I didn't even get any last week. I've got a stack of
it again so it's not a big deal yet but it is strange.
Put stuff away, then sent the iMac back. Set it up for him. His Photos
library stops in 2019, how did that happen? I backed it up so it should have
been exactly how it was left. Odd. I left it running with instructions to
leave it there, hopefully it will download from iCloud, where all his
pictures are. Had to figure out how to turn that on, it's a checkbox, but I
think I did it.
Came back here, ate dinner, checked sites.
Worked on the gift.
Sat:
Gift - not exactly as gold as I wanted but okay. It's coming along.
Hopefully the resin hardens, the first try didn't. It's seemingly ok at the
moment but I haven't take it out of the mold yet.
Took longer than I wanted, though I did figure out how to adjust the air
pressure for the airbrush. Maybe I should, I don't know, look into how to
actually use this thing?
Cut the front lawn, as it's supposed to rain tomorrow.
Did more reading, once you start re-reading Dresden you can't stop,
obviously.
Some gaming, gonna work through my game list if it kills me!
Dinner
Did some writing. Yes, here at home again! Wild. Hey, some days are good
days.
Then warframe with the others.
Sun:
Took the resin out of the mold. It was sticky. Did I not leave it long
enough (the extra I had poured into another mold was just fine) because it's
a greater amount or what? They should have cured the same way. Heck, this
should have been faster because it was more resin and thus more heat. Right?
Sigh. So I decided, hey, it's a chemical reaction that hardens with self
generated heat right? So let's just heat the resin in the oven. This seems
to have done what I wanted, restarted the reaction again (it was hot much
longer than it should have been) and it hardened up. Neat. Of course now it
has fingerprints and such on it from me trying to get it out of the mould,
but I could (with a lot of work) sand them out.
Working on the gift but only a little.
Videos and sites.
Reading.
Watched two movies, both pretty good, no complaints.
Made my calls, I'm going back to iMac guy tomorrow and set the proper email
settings for a guy. He said the spectrum drone put these incorrect settings
in? I mean, at once I am unsurprised and surprised.
Got ready for tomorrow. Didn't rain, I could have done the lawn today.
Mon:
Only work related thing was near the end of the day. More voice work, they
had more debugging code put in to try and figure some things out. Not a
problem.
Otherwise I did a bit of writing, some reading, and that was that.
Went over to see iMac guy. He didn't let photos complete what it was doing
so I started that up again so hopefully he gets his pictures all back. All
he had to do was leave it alone until it finished. Why was that so hard to
do? Started the download of the OS X installer, it says 16 hours. I really
do hate wireless. And show him the input button on his remote control again.
Came back here, ate dinner, checked sites. Figured I would try the resin
pour again, it would be much more work to try and sand it out. I'll make
sure it's completely cured, maybe put in in the oven in the mold before I
take it out. The silicon should hold up just fine, I would probably only put
it in for 1 minute to start, I used 5 minutes for the one I had already
taken out. I guess we'll see. I left it outside in the sun after I poured
it, as it's a really warm day. That seemed to help. Put it upstairs after
the sun set, it's pretty warm up there. Crossing my fingers!
Tues:
Some more good work on the voice system. Tested what I got last time, found
a few things they said they knew the cause of and could fix today. Got more
debugging done and they said they would get me a build later. They did, but
pretty late.
Otherwise not much, finished the next chapter.
Came home, checked sites, ate dinner. Took the part out of the mold, it
seems solid. Threw it in the oven anyway.
No calls, got ready for tomorrow. Sean was in a meeting until late so we
didn't do any xbox until late.
Huh. The item cracked. Physically cracked. Sigh. However, setting it in the,
uh, setting, I think it's okay. I can put it at an angle and it should not
be visible. A little bit is, but I can put that at the back and unless you
really looked for it, you wouldn't notice it. And then I realized rather
than farting around with resin, I could just buy a glass object in the exact
shape and size I want for less than $6.00. So I just did that.
Sigh.
Warframe of course.
Wed:
More voice system goodness. Found that if you go to log in, touch password,
then username, then password again it logs you in as though you hit enter.
Neat. Otherwise more bugs fixed. Nothing much else exciting. Oh, Christina
wheeled a machine over here and found our ipv6 networks act differently in
the two rooms. Go figure. Don't ask us why, but they do.
And right before I left Don sent me an email with a whole bunch of nonsense
and was like, Yeah can we reproduce S1 or S3 below? And I mailed him back
and was like, dude, this is a bunch of nonsense what the heck is all this?
And then I left.
Came back here, ate dinner, checked sites.
Some reading, and then a bit of Warframe.
Thurs:
Another meeting day, with many glorious meetings to partake of. Exciting. No
new voice system stuff, the only real active project. Don wasn't in so
Christina ran the meeting. Checked the plants.
Did write another chapter, the person with the answers just got killed by a
grenade and now our heroines have to fight off cult members storming into
the place to kill them. Yikes!
Called quicken lady. Went over there, so a half hour of driving but at least
I got it over there. Wasn't without pain, as I hoped opening her old company
file would bypass the stupid login measure. Nope. I had to mess around
trying to get that to work, made an intuit account. Apparently that's not
the right thing, it had to be a quicken account. Had to find the updater
from some really sketchy looking site because quicken or intuit or whoever
they are now doesn't provide them. Thanks for that. Then it would let me log
in. All very stupid. I hate that company's software, I really do.
Finally got home at 6:00. Checked sites, ate dinner, one call but I didn't
reach the guy. He's moved so he wants a few things done at the new place.
And that's another week gone. What's coming up? Tomorrow I'll do the
shopping, go to the bank, and see my parents. No game, Neil is not available
so we may just do xbox stuff.
Saturday is a game though, maybe we'll finally finish up this time travel
plotline? Rescue some people? Find the mage soul? Who can say. I think we
were about to fight the bad guy? I forget it's been a month or more.
Otherwise maybe cut the back yard. Otherwise not sure. Paint more of the
gift if Sean says it's okay on Sunday.
I guess that will do it. Hope your august is going well. Speeding through
it, I'd say. Almost labor day.
See you back here next week.
