Fri:
Lots accomplished today! 3 tests done on the trunk. That's the majority.
Could have done the 4th really, it seemed to be in, that's the config sheet
changes. But Don said it wasn't ready? So I held off. Wrote two bugs total,
somewhat of a surprise as this should be ports of what was already done but
with the complexity of all this things are bound to interact in surprising
ways. Oddly, this new trunk doesn't look any different from what I was
already testing. The last time I did trunk testing it was a whole new look.
I guess we've decided not to do that this time? We're happy with it?
Also wrote up more plot. You know how last night I was kind of throwing
things out there last time? Maybe it didn't seem that way but I was. I was
thinking more and more about the whole "keeping something dangerous at bay"
and ran with that. So I've got much more plot than before, but still need to
figure out how to resolve it and what the thing the lady my main character
meets actually does.
Did the shopping, the manager guy I see all the time at Aldi told me he's
stepping down, so good luck to you, sir. Hope you get a good replacement!
Saw my parents, and a big moth thing my program couldn't identify. I tried.
Bugs are hard, even if they just sit there. They're so tiny, and the digital
zoom really isn't meant for close ups of that nature. Oh well, I just wanted
it for plants anyway.
Got back here, put stuff away, checked sites, and then did some Borderlands.
Sat:
Cleaning, my parents are coming over, they did not go to the graduation
because my father still isn't feeling all that great. He took a nap instead.
Worked on the mouse cage - worked out pretty well I think. I found what I
call a punch tool, it's a screwdriver looking thing but it has a point not a
blade. So I was able to stick some holes in the mesh, and tie it with twist
ties. Hopefully that keeps the little one from escaping.
Picked the last of the berries- total count is 9 bags! Not bad, with the
best producers gone...
Checked sites, ate lunch.
Played some Borderlands on my own to find a new version of the Storm- found
one and took on the takedown! Won it... sorta. I went down, shot the last
part of wuton a bunch of times, died, but then he died too. So I came back
in having won it, and on the screen came "failure!" "Takedown confirmed!" So
I was confused. I'll call it a win. Didn't take long, I got lucky to get the
Storm as quickly as I did. There's a big difference between my level 65
version and my new level 72 version. So that should help if we do the
Holoween one again.
Watched the movie my father loaned me, it was good.
Ate dinner.
Watched a bit of an Anime.
Then my parents came for the movie, loaded their car up with stuff. But
there's more to go, so come back soon!
Then finished up the anime. It was only 12 episodes, at 1.25 speed they go
pretty fast.
Sun:
Checked sites, watched the day's movies as usual.
Made a render of Neil's gift so I can 3D print the pieces I need to.
Ate lunch
Finished up the render? Sent it to Sean, but he said it wasn't right. Redid
it according to the picture he sent. I'll go buy the main part of it
tomorrow so I can start printing the other pieces and fitting them.
Also played another game from my folder, one of the last ones actually. It's
a very short game with lots of endings, I won't get them all but I got a few
of them. There's only so many times I can see the same dialog and animations
even sped up.
Started another anime that seems like it would be in the same universe as
the other one I watched, but no. It's pretty good so far.
Mon:
The mouse was running in his wheel this morning, so I'm glad he found it and
his food and water. He was really going at it, must like to run. Sorry, your
name is still Houdini not Usain. I think he'll like that cage better in the
long run. The long run, get it?
Got some fun news at work today! Thanks to morons who refuse their chance to
become almost immune to a life threatening illness because they
are stupid, we get to wear masks around the office again! Thanks,
anti-vaxers, hope you die in a fire, while simultaneously on a ventilator
awaiting a lung transplant and thinking "huh, maybe should have gotten that
vaccine after all. You're the best!
^worst
But enough about easily preventable diseases, let's talk about work. There
was some today!
Looked into a bug I wrote first, turns out the test case was wrong so it is
working just fine. Who would have thought?
Then we got the final version of D5.4 so I once again looked it over.
Nothing too in depth mind you, but just enough to see it was there and
worked fine. It did. I did the black and white machine, should I do a color
machine? I don't know...
Oh, and I went back to D4.0 to check on the bug I wrote for D5.6 and it was
there, so I cloned it and wrote it up for D4.0 too. Yayyyy.
Went to wegmans to finally turn in my $1.00 lotto ticket, and use up my
$50.00 gift card from, uh, christmas. I miscounted, I still have $5.00 left
on it. Weird. Something must have been cheaper than I thought. Their cider
isn't very good, not like Aldi cider. I was looking forward to a "sneak
peak" of fall and then was like, oh, it's going to be a crummy fall
apparently.
Then to lowes to get a piece of Neil's gift.
Home, sites, dinner as usual.
Worked on Neil's gift. Started the 3D print and ordered another piece of it
on Ebay. It should finish at 10:00. The print, not the ebay thing.
Ugh, except it pulled off the bed. I guess I didn't have it low enough. I'll
have to try again tomorrow, Sean wants to do xbox. At least I can check the
fit on what printed. It only worked for like 15 minutes soo...
Tues:
More work today, I got a good build of the voice system. Something happened
to it, so he basically reloaded it. That put the latest version on and fixed
a lot of the problems. So I did that a bunch, though I did come up with a
little more plot.
Christina showed me what should be happening over in Versalink land, in case
we get something while she's out. The feature is supposed to be in, but it's
not. So we don't know what's going on there.
Came back here, started the 3D print. I realized after I started it that
there was a way to do it much better and easier, probably wouldn't have
taken the whole time. Huh. Well, it's more art than science I guess, and I
need to be sure to think of the best way to go about it. This one does seem
to have printed, it came off the bed a little but stuck the rest of the way
so it did print. Now to see if I can get the support material off it.
Checked sites, ate dinner, a couple of calls today sadly. The lady that
wasn't home yesterday and a few others. Sigh.
The guy down the street "messed up his pictures" whatever that means. I need
to give him his money anyway.
A lady that had some questions, dealt with that over the phone.
And a lady with a laptop with a possible screen issue. I didn't see anything
on my end, anyway. I'm going there Thursday.
Made those, got ready for bed, and did more Xbox.
Wed:
Not much to tell work wise today. At least first work, anyway. Had a meeting
with the voice people, so they know where the bugs are and what to do about
them, at least I hope.
They're adding card readers to every door, I guess to prevent theft? But
anything small enough to steal won't have a serial number, so even if it
appeared online there would be no proving it came from our buildings. So
bizarre.
Wrote chapter 2, not sure if I learned anything new about her but at least
she's on her way to the plot.
Went to see about "the photos" which turned out to be "the printers" which
is a bizarre situation to be sure. It's a Mac, and when we went to print it
just kinda hung the machine up. Well, preview, not the whole machine
obviously. There's a reset printer command right there, but it didn't seem
to help. Just trying to add them made the thing beachball for a annoying
length of time. Supposedly this has an SSD too, so it shouldn't be slow.
After two hours I gave up, I just can't do anything with it. I had tried the
command line tools, downloading the driver manually (and that was a treat.
Went to the HP website. They had me download a thing that opened the app
store to download another thing so that I could download the driver. Maybe
skip two steps there, HP? Oh, and the other printer I could download the
driver for. 600 MB???? What kind of printer driver needs
that much- wait it's compressed? It's actually like twice that? What the
heck???????) I brought it home, am trying to back it up now with time
machine (It's sitting there "preparing backup") so I can just wipe it and
start it over. I hope it starts sometime soon?! The disk is blank, it has to
copy everything, what it is sitting there doing? Seriously, just copy
everything. It's been more than an hour now, still preparing. The
RTProtectionDaemon has read 200GB so hopefully there's not much more.
Sheesh, it seems awful slow for an SSD. Wait, that's Mbam? It's scanned 12
things in 41 minutes? HUH? And there seems to be no way to turn it off. I
forced it to quit. Why was the schedule every hour? That's nuts.
Finally figured out how to kill that stupid process, it kept coming back.
Thanks, MBAM you're the greatest. The backup started. Finally.
Checked sites, did the usual night stuff. The backup didn't finish.
Thurs:
Something is up with this machine. I got up in the night to turn it off,
figuring the backup would be done by then. Right? Wrong-o. It was back to
the login screen, and still had GB left to go.
So I started it back up again, and went back to bed.
When I got up it still was not done, being (you guessed it) back to the login
screen. So it wasn't done by the time I left.
When I got home ... you get the picture. It's now (at 8:24 PM)
still "47 minutes" from restoring from the backup. Ugh.
Anyway, meeting day, with a bonus meeting about what things do and do not
clone on Versalink. Because the Doj or DOD or DAD or MFP or CDC or something
wants to reduce costs setting up machines and have everything clone. Which
seems reasonable to me, why make a feature that lets you take the
configuration of a machine and copy paste it to another machine but then you
don't cover every setting. Weird. So now we have to make it do that. Fun.
Otherwise a little voice system work, more bugs are finally fixed (well,
some of them were) and a bit more writing.
Went out to 34 s main st which didn't exist, and I didn't have her phone
number. Whoops. Good thing she pointed out the landmark of the white fence.
So I was a half hour later than I wanted to be, mostly because she didn't
answer her door because she was sitting out back! But at least I don't have
to go back there. Oddly, her laptop, which she uses as a desktop because it
has a million wires stuck into it, was already hooked to the TV right next
to it. Realizing this I suggested just putting her keyboard there and using
the TV as a monitor. It wasn't too huge, so it's probably fine, at least
until she decides if she wants a new system or not.
So yeah, took way longer to drive there than to actually do the
job. As usual.
Came back here, started the restore of the iMac which didn't take long, but
this copying is. I mean I get it's transferring from a rust drive but come
on, hurry up!
Checked sites, ate dinner, the usual.
And now our usual look into the future! Not too busy it work tomorrow, as I
figure it. I'll do the shopping, wave at the gas station, and see my
parents. I don't think we're doing game Neil is still moving/going out with
someone? Or something? Right. In any case, nothing with Jon either that I've
heard of.
Weekend plans- continue working on Neil's gift. I have another part to 3D
print and I have a plan to stick the item I got in the mail to the part I 3D
printed. So we'll see if that works out. But how to do the other part?
That's the question. Actually I should paint the part then glue the part.
Right. I need to sand it too.
Otherwise not much else I guess. Can't think of anything at the moment. Oh,
returning this iMac of course. Having my parents over, no Saturday game
until next week. That should do it. First week of August- get.
Hope it went okay for you, I'll see you all back here next week for more
complaining, and more of the same. See you then.
