Fri:
Not much at work, I did run the "combat" but they tried hurting him in a
different way as they couldn't get through the armor.
Took care of a plant, why did all the leaves but a few decide to die off?
Not much else.
Waved to the gas station as I drove by, got Heather's gift card, groceries,
and saw my parents. Aldi had cat food again, that was a nice surprise after
so many weeks of not having any. Bought a case of it, so my kitties can keep
eating.
Did game. Wasn't as desparate this session, there were less enemies, but we
stayed on track and took out the bad guy. A lowly "office worker" demon that
at least gave us some good info before he croaked. We also got some hits on
the future from some random lady (instead of the instructor who has had
actual training in seeing the future and would be more likely to have such
dreams and things about us, but okay, leave the mere "medium" to tell us
this stuff. Maybe the heavens sent her these visions or maybe the teachers
all knew it and decided not to tell us for reasons? I don't know.)
Sat:
picking berries - lots of them, almost a full container. Putting them into a
bag shows about 2 bags per container, so I have enough bagged for 4 pies at
the moment. I need one more cup for the 5th bag, which I'll get for sure,
there are still lots out there. No movement on the ones I planted, are you
in there little ones?
Wrapping Heather's gift.
Did some cleaning - my parents are coming over tonight.
Paperwork from last month. All of 5 invoices, so it took me a long time. Why
am I bothering? Good question you in the back. Let's move on.
Lunch and watching a movie, no it's not the latest Marvel movie... Okay yes
it was.
Did a game (2 actually) from the pile, which is growing smaller. Of course
there are some over on the PC that won't run on the Mac, and some of the Mac
versions flat out refuse to run, saying they can't be opened. So I'll move
them over as well. Odd. Still, some interesting stuff.
And my parents came for the movie. It was a big giant movie. Well, more like
a small giant movie. But there were other, larger giants other that the one
smaller giant. You get it. No Sean stuff after that, just more games on my
own.
Sun:
Baked my last pie using the berries from last year. So good, let's hope the
berries this year are as good and as plentiful to last a whole year. With
the loss of the berries by the neighbor's fence I doubt it, but they're
trying their best out there. Well, hopefully in two years I'll have
compensated for it. (even planting the spouts this year, it'll be two years
before they have berries)
I also cooked up some chickens and rice, I was running a bit low on meals.
Boxed them up and froze them.
Cleanup kitchen from all that, which basically is just piling everything in
the sink until the day I put it all into the dishwasher. Such a slob.
Sites and videos.
Sunday stuff like laundry and getting ready for tomorrow as I'll be out
tonight for a bit, for my sister's birthday dinner. More rain by the way.
Looked at my character again, destitute is two points, and I'm playing her
as being very poor (she went to the school to see if she could get a job
somewhere as she came from a very poor country and doesn't have a lot of
clothes, means, or obvious stuff like a cell phone.) I took it at one point
as there's no weakness "you're poor" just "you're completely homeless" which
she wasn't. So that got me another point to put into her. Might as well get
the benefit if I'm going to play her a certain way. It could come up that
I'm lost somewhere and have no cell phone, and my classmates can't call me,
that sort of thing. I forgot to switch skills, the twin with the gravity
magic shouldn't learn exorsism that's for the twin that wouldn't be holding
down the possessed person for a whole minute or more. But she did, so I have
to take those points out and make sure the other twin takes it. What was I
thinking?
Did another game from my folder. I... got killed by a falling piano at the
end? What? And I didn't really solve Lucifer's problem in the district,
because I didn't find any evidence despite being told by one of the
characters the books were wrong because I didn't follow up on it for
reasons? I mean even if I hated the guy (and I did) I could have easily gone
to their place of business and asked someone there to give me the right
figures. Then I would have had the evidence I needed and completed my actual
mission for Lucifer. It's like the actual goal of the characters in the game
is to prove fraud, but the events of the game from my perspective are a
dating sim? Make up your mind! The game is either doing your job OR making
the others like you. Not both. What a weird game, I'm not going to replay it
any time soon. Next!
Went to applebees, saw my sister. Happy Birthday!
Started another game from the folder and made a call, it's just setting up a
printer. Did you even try? I mean it's pretty easy nowadays, there's not
that much to it. But sure, I'll come take your money, and slowly turn it
into .25% more money over 40 years in the IRA. It might earn me a quarter in
that time, right?
Mon:
Busy morning at work, I got a notice some more bugs were fixed in a build a
week later than what I had tested before, so I loaded it. One was almost
complete, but they missed one thing so it failed! Ha! One was
fixed totally. One was in the spec correctly so I just closed it, thanks
Ted. (He gave me test cases but not the spec, so I just went off that and as
the behavior changed I thought it was a bug but really it was what we
wanted. Go figure).
The afternoon on the other hand was quite boring. Not much to do.
Left for my other job.Was there two hours, his machine is so slow, while the
laptop with the SSD sits right next to it. I don't understand why he uses
the one he does. Then we had to call HP because he uses the stupid "instant
ink" nonsense, and didn't know his password, and the password reset email
didn't come. It was horrible.
Got back here, ate dinner, checked sites, and did some games with Sean.
Borderlands, trying to get the last of the challenges.
Tues:
Another busy morning, we had the voice system meeting, and he got me a new
server component that worked, and a new weblet, and a new equitrac piece
that all did nothing for any of the bugs I had written. Nice. But that took
some time so it was from 10:30 to 12:00(ish). But at least he understands
and reproduced most of the bugs so maybe we'll get some action on them soon?
Wrote the next chapter in the afternoon.
Got back, picked berries and listened to thunder. (it was sunny) Realized a
few things. 1) I have tons of small, brown, flying moths. Tons! All over the
place. 2) I'll have plenty of blackberries this year. Usually I see just a
few, but this year conditions must have been great because they're all over.
Way more than usual. 3) still have more vine back there. It was pretty warm
out.
Checked sites, had dinner.
Made my calls. Why do I go days and days with nothing, and then get three in
one day? York, the guy down the street, and the guy, uh, further down the
street. Guy down the street called first, wants a TV "hooked up" whatever
that means, you hook other things to a TV you don't hook a TV up to
anything. But whatever. Guy further down couldn't articulate his issue and
wanted Saturday. So I'm going to york Thursday. He says his machine says
there's no Ethernet, but all other terminals connect to the machine- via
Ethernet. So clearly that's not the case. But of course he wasn't there so I
didn't get the story. So that's the rest of the week booked up. Yay.
Got ready for tomorrow, finished a game from the folder while I waited for
8:30, apparently it was storming pretty bad where Sean is. It reached me at
8:00 but didn't last very long. We did Borderlands.
Wed:
Nothing new on the voice front, though one of the developers was trying to
figure out the fax thing. Don is gone tomorrow and Friday so while we'll
still "meet" it'll be short.
Oh, tomorrow I'll load the latest D5.4 build and check two bugs I didn't
even write. Sure, I mean it's not the normal thing we do but what else do I
have to do? The other meeting I guess.
Wrote the next chapter. Another fight has broken out, this time possessed
humans against the members of Blue Shield, I'll probably have to do that
here at least in part Herman will try things but the vampire will be
untouchable so...
Plants are doing ok. Nothing much else.
Went to the guy down the street. Plugged his TV in, and reset his passwords.
I think maybe I didn't have to, I found another, newer, sheet with them
which may have been the right one. I tossed that one and made a new sheet.
He gave me his old iMac, the old TV which still seems to work just fine, 2
printers (inkjet, ugh) and a scanner. I'll see if any of it's useful, I mean
the iMac I'll clean out and... do something with or sell? The printers I may
just recycle, there's no market for used printers and even if there was,
they're way too heavy to ship someplace. Hey mom, when is your next garage
sale?
Picked berries, I now have 5 bags of them and some left.
Checked sites, ate dinner.
Two calls, but it was just York again so I'll head there tomorrow.
Got ready for tomorrow, no news on playing games yet.
And the phone just rang. It was just york. The settings on one of his boxes
has gone away, it isn't the main PC. He just can't explain anything. We put
the settings back (using the other unit in the room) but unless he made a
mistake it's still not working. Ethernet cable? I tried to get him to check
the lights but he insists there are none on either box. So I still have to
go out there. Neat.
Watched the latest episode of Loki. There's a season 2 eh? Interesting.
No games tonight. Went to bed.
Thurs:
Did a few things today. Meetings, mostly. Helped with looking into the fax
bug with the voice system. It's broken in a different way! Progress!
Looked into two bugs that were fixed, oh and found out sort edge feed letter
paper cuts off the page number, it's not just A4 paper that does it. There
are so many variables on these things I really don't think anything can be
fully tested. I mean I didn't even think of the two bugs the development
team found that I tested.
No writing today, just reading.
Went to york. Figured the problem was the IP address settings, somehow they
had changed too. So the box wasn't getting an IP address. Didn't even
consider that, last night on the phone, not that I knew where it was without
looking. Took some pictures and left them, in case it happens again we can
look at them and see what the settings are.
Came back here, picked some berries, checked sites, got ready for tomorrow.
One call, 40 minutes on the phone resetting her bank and facebook passwords.
Saved me a trip I suppose.
Tried to figure out what to do with the TV. It's 720P so not exactly cutting
edge. Thought about replacing my old, square Dell monitor I have to turn off
with an external power strip (it just goes on) but this VGA adapter doesn't
like reading the capabilities of the monitors it's connected to or
something, it wouldn't give me the right resolution. And honestly the Dell
isn't so far off, so meaning smeared across 32" the picture looked bad. So I
put it all back the way it was. Sigh. Still don't know what I'm going to do
with it. I hate to just toss it.
So what's coming up? Tomorrow is the big day, the level 2 charger is
installed. Just in time, as I'm going to Sean's physically for game.
Otherwise lots of busy busy writing I mean working at work, doing the
shopping, not getting gas, and seeing my parents. Then over to Sean's after
I put stuff away and do my time sheet.
A list of things for Saturday, I have the 10:00 appointment, then back here.
Berry picking, cutting the lawn, attaching a "stop" to the piece of wood I
use in the car to keep everything from sliding forward if I stop quickly.
Cleaning. Parents over. Seeing about all these printers and iMac and such.
Charging my car at super speeds? Not sure about Sunday, maybe resting from
all that? Not sure. Moving more trees? Cutting vines? Maybe.
So halfway through July huh? Hope it's treating you okay, only two weeks
left to go. See you all next week!
