2021-07-08:

Fri:
So Don comes to see me, right? Says he wants to tell me something. Fine, nothing stopping you, right? So he says our group has been trying to get its members direct hired for years now, which is a filthy, filthy lie but I say go on. He says upper management has finally decided to do this, but there's a catch. There are three of us, but only two will be direct hired. Guess which two? Right, the other two. Not me. I will remain as I am. Wonderful.
And Ken wants to give me the plants in the server room. They are growing out of control, they're sort of a vine with a broad leaf. But that was too late in the day to move them so next week.
Writing was also done, and that's about the extent of the work news for today.
Groceries, stuff for tomorrow, no cat food still. Little cans, yes. Maybe I'll have to start buying them stuff at the actual pet store.
Saw my parents, they're fine.
Home for game- it went really well. During the battle with the witches I felt pressured but not overwhelmed, that's a hard thing to do. We beat them, only one died and that was her own darn fault, some got away and we took 2 prisoner. I tried twice to make her backfire her spell, it didn't work, and then she went ahead and backfired her own spell. I was confused.

Sat:
Went out for my 10:00 job - horribly slow PC, didn't think it was the HD after awhile, just it being slow. He decided on an SSD anyway, which greatly improved performance. I was there until after 1:00 though the copy went quickly enough. It was a desktop so I could hook both drives to the SATA bus and didn't have to use USB. So that helped, and him having less than 80gb didn't hurt.
Worked on the car - Just as before I peeled off some of the decal as they're not paying me to advertise their business so it's now A Direct VEHICLE instead of auction direct something vehicle something and the license plate covers are silver instead of white with more advertising. It's weird how many people's cars I see where that advertising is intact. Don't we see enough ads in our lives?
Toilet and other cleaning, my father was coming over after all.
Picked some berries and did some trimming. Nut trees everywhere, as well as clingy vine. More of that to come.
Had dad over for dinner and a movie. Nearing the end of the Marvel Universe at last, we're up to Infinity War.
A little borderlands, not with everyone, I was just trying stuff out after dad left.

Sun:
Happy 4th.
Cut the back lawn.
More weeds pulled and moving trees around. That clingy vine is just everywhere, you cut some, look again, and there's more to cut.
Took out a lot of grape vine too. Only knew it was grape vine when I saw like 5 grapes. Not many on it.
Lunch.
Someone is moving in next door, there's a Uhaul truck there. Tiny dog in the yard that barked at me. Silly pup.
Sites and videos.
Cleaned up the garage, it's a long time still until my charger unit (that isn't a charger unit) goes in but hey, needed something to do.
Watched a movie and cleaned up my temp drive.
Did berry picking once the sun went down.

Mon:
Happy day off.
More berry picking - I have a full container. Next Sunday I'll make my final pie with the old berries and freeze the new ones. I have planted some that I picked, we'll see if I get any sprouts. I hope so. This labor day we'll have to dig up that ground cover plant back there and hopefully put the sprouts in. I can only conclude the nasty roots it has (they're pretty bad) is what's choaking out the berries back there, as there used to be a lot more back there than there are now.

Lunch
More vines cut out of the berries. Going to have to watch that next year and do it much earlier. They just go out of control. That not only means the berries have a harder time, but I then have all this vine stuff I have to get rid of. It just makes sense to take care of it earlier.

One call, the guy with the iPhone finally has it hooked up. He's coming here tomorrow to finish up his tutoring.

Tues:
Back to work! And work I had. In the morning anyway. Did the latest build test of the config sheet printing and of the scanning preview. Wrote up one bug, otherwise still basically the same as before. Many of the bugs I had written before are closed, they're not going to do anything about it. Why do I bother? I wanted to do the color machine in the afternoon, but it will have to wait until tomorrow, as all the color machines are taken. Shouldn't really be any different.
Rained pretty hard after lunch. Good thing I looked at the weather report before I left and it said no rain today so I had my car windows open. Or wait, what's the opposite of that?
Put the plants in the room. Way worse than I thought, the one has several vines, and they're all super long. I wrapped them around my microwave cart, oddly a lot of the leaves are in back, not in front. Sigh. I guess we'll see how they do.
Finished the latest chapter, it's going to be a fight so I need to figure out how many people there are and what they do. I'll probably have to write that part here at home. Good thing I have a morning's worth of work to do tomorrow to keep me busy!
Came home, checked sites and such until iPhone guy arrived. Now that his phone actually worked and was activated it went much better. I gave him a refresher on how to do things, he went away. Happy. He went away happy.

Got ready for tomorrow and played some Borderlands.

Wed:
As expected, did the two features on the color machine. It was actually at the right software level, so that saved me some time. yay? Noticed a few differences, like the color machine cuts the page number off on A4 paper. Weird. And it only prints the logo in color on one page, but I guess that's by design so that's a retraction. Otherwise not much else exciting. Nothing from the voice guy, maybe tomorrow? Meeting day! Didn't do any book work. I should have at least figured out how many there were and what their plan was. I'm a lazy bum.

Came back here, no job, watched the latest Loki while I ate dinner. Checked sites and videos, got ready for bed. There was some question of playing something without Mizzy. But we did not.

Thurs:
Did many work things today at work. Like, uh, meetings, because it's meeting day. And other... work related... things. That cannot be mentioned. Too top secret I'm afraid. Busy busy busy.

Rained really hard when I got out of work. Like, super hard. Went to the bank, put my CD into my checking account. Whew. Back up to pre-car buying levels. Nice. Wonder what a solar system would run me, and if it would be worth it around here? I do see other houses that have them. Lady at the bank offered a Money Market account. I would get .25% interest. An interest calculator online shows that after forty years at that interest rate I would have earned drum roll please a little more than a thousand dollars. So, like a week's salary. That's not going to cut it. Maybe I'll just buy more mutual funds...

Came back, did the usual stuff, at the usual times.


And now we look to the future. No idea what I'll do tomorrow. Maybe I can try writing the battle? Bring a few tokens to work, I guess? Though maybe we'll do it tonight so I can write what comes after, I don't know. Anyway, groceries, hope they have cat food, and seeing my parents. Then back for game, tracking down the demon that gave those ladies magical powers.

Nothing for Saturday or Sunday, I'll probably have my parents over for a movie as usual. Otherwise not sure. Make my last pie, pick more berries (if it's not raining).
