Fri:
Spent part of the morning tracking down CUPS and a b/w print of a color
document through the command line, because that's a popular method. I had to
add the printer to our linux device as that's the only place the "lp"
command works, but I was able to do it and proved the command worked, at
least for the one device I tested. In my research I discovered different
printers can support different commands so it's possible the printer the
customer is using doesn't? Kevin didn't know or didn't care to tell me which
it was, he said that test was sufficient.
Then did admin password testing. No real problems there. It's a three step
test, so it went pretty quickly.
Did the ethics "training." Basically the same videos and questions I've been
asked for 5 years now.
Not much in the afternoon, watered the plants because I noticed one already
was completely wilted. Weird. Maybe it's under a vent or something so it
dries out really fast?
Got cat food and litter.
Got sand.
Got groceries.
Put stuff away, checked sites, and did game. We actually did get into the
second adventure, because they decided to trust the guy and while in real
life that would have meant complete betrayal I made him play along. At least
for now. Then there can be the sudden but inevitable betrayal later!
Went to bed.
Sat:
Busy morning as expected. Over to feed everyone, and saw Gabe again.
Then over to get my shot. No problems there. No reaction yet. (4:00 pm)
Then out for a very, very, very long appointment. His machines were terribly
slow, despite having fast processors, and then I removed them from a
non-existent domain and couldn't get back into that user locally. Who knew
that would happen? So I had to figure out where their files were as they
must have been somewhere, and thankfully windows didn't clean up after that
procedure they were still hidden deep in the windows folder. (Someone had
done some stupid remote folder thing so the files were cached as of course
those servers were long gone) It was a whole mess, but it finally was
resolved.
Came back here, checked sites and videos.
Worked on Sean's gift. Got 2 coats of paint on it and did the edging. I'll
need more edging, but I think the sand thing will work out just fine.
Then Warframe, finally got to do railjack stuff. It's pretty fun, there's a
lot of things that need to be juggled so you're always hopping from one
thing to another but it's still manageable. So far I think they've done a
good job with it.
Started to feel icky though. Cold. Achy. Went to bed.
Sun:
Didn't sleep very well. I did sleep, I guess, as there was a kitten next to
me where I didn't have one before but still it was pretty awful. My arm
hurt, I was cold despite having every blanket in the place on me (in the
winter it's totally toasty so it was me, I knew it was me).
Got up and did the kids over at my parent's house. Wiped me out, honestly.
I'm cold, my joints ache, I have no energy, no appetite, and I just feel run
down. Gonna just sit here and watch something maybe.
Watched a let's play of Riven, given my new interest in Myst after reading
the book my parents got me.
Feeling better, but still going to try getting to bed early. Did an hour of
warframe as I had to be up anyway to answer any calls. None came in, thank
goodness, and my previous Monday appointment of farm lady was moved to
Tuesday so that's a further relief in case I'm still not feeling well
tomorrow. Went to bed at 9:00.
Mon:
Slept pretty much the entire 10 hours though I did wake up more than usual.
Feeling much better, still not a 100% though but that's to be expected.
Large improvement from yesterday.
Didn't have much for the morning, so I worked on a chapter. Got it finished,
and the maid turned out to be a... ninja? I mean she wears all black but
armor too and only uses daggers, so not really.
Anyway, afternoon picked up as a new build of D4.0 came out, the latest
which we don't actually have any features in! Neat. But I had a bunch of
bugs I needed to test were fixed, so I tested them. Did 8 upgrades, checked
positioning of things, wrote one bug because the D4.0 behavior is different
from the D5.4 behavior (in a bad way) but everything they said was fixed,
was, so that's good.
That all took all afternoon. Came back, did some things I would have done
yesterday had I been up to them. Checked sites, ate dinner. One call, just
had to tell her to hit okay a couple of times. No big deal.
No game with the others as Adam wasn't up for it, but we did warframe.
Tues:
Couple of work things at work, but nothing too exciting. One was just
upgrading a D5.4 machine to a specific build again to see if login continued
to work. It did, so that was a pretty quick test. And the voice system
people are back to working on the login issue there, but no progress was
made today. They had me try a few things and one of the developers looked at
the logs. Maybe it's not sending the cert like it should. Always a cert
issue.
Otherwise just some writing. Oh, and finding a ton of food with today's date
on it in the trash. I had one of the subs in the car, then went back for the
rest. (Had to empty out my bag of course) Put some in the freezer at work,
got most of the rest in the bag. I hate seeing food go to waste. Got like 7
burgers, 3 subs, 3 breakfast sandwitches, 2 hot pockets, one huge cookie,
and there was still stuff left that wouldn't fit in the bag. All perfectly
fine, it was all still cold so it wasn't tossed that long ago. And we would
rather just toss it then donate to, I don't know, a shelter that could use
it that day and everything would be fine. Okay, sure.
Got back here because farm lady had called that morning her room was being
painted so I couldn't come today either. Moved it another week. Sure,
whatever. House next door has a for sale sign on it. Anyone interested? It
has a boring front yard with nothing in it, a new walkway, and great
neighbors! *wink*
Watched videos, checked sites, did a map for the game. Got ready for
tomorrow and did warframe.
Wed:
Another two tasks were before me today. I found out. The first was in an
email to verify some bugs (or lack of them) in the single sign on stuff for
D5.4. We won't get a final build of that until early next month but I guess
someone was testing it? Wasn't us. Anyway, of the 4 things I couldn't
reproduce one, two were the way the system was supposed to work, one did
seem to be a bug. Then in the afternoon the voice people started working
again, so I was trying some cert stuff but it didn't work. Trying to load
the cert they gave me just made the screen go blank. Neat. I also wrote to
Don saying we missed D5.4 and USDA wasn't using it anyway, was it okay to
test with a later build and he said yes, we didn't have to do original 5.4
so I started the upgrade of the machine so when I get in tomorrow it will be
ready. Shoot, should have put myself on the calendar. Oh well.
Worked on the next adventure a little, just painting the broad strokes. I
still need some detail like exact locations.
Ate my trashwich at work and came home. No calls again, my luck is holding.
Checked sites, watched videos. Worked on splitting Sean's gift into
printable parts. I hope they're printable, anyway. Please be printable. All
relatively quick to print, the longest was 3 hours. Maybe I'll start one
tomorrow.
Got ready for tomorrow and did some warframe, still trying to get one
blueprint I need. Thanks, RNG.
We actually got it on our last try! We did it three times, which isn't bad.
Sorry to put you all through that. Oh, I need more components to make the
component? Of course I do.
Thurs:
Fairly busy day. We got the final version of D2.9 which has one feature in
it we need to test, so I loaded it up on 4 machines. Did 2 full tests,
basically side by side, then spot checked the other two. Christina said she
could maybe look at the final two models, but Joe said we didn't have to.
There were no problems before so...
Had the meetings of course. Looked over the plants. Wrote a tiny bit more of
the adventure and of the next chapter but didn't get through it.
Can't recall anything else important. Rained pretty hard. Don't think we're
in a drought anymore.
Stopped at the good will, didn't find anything. Boo!
And got a $20 refund from my old health insurance provider because of some
.6% target goal they didn't make. Uh, sure, I'll take twenty bucks.
Checked sites, watched movies. Got ready for tomorrow. No calls again, super
pleased about that.
Not sure what I'll work on tomorrow. Oh, maybe test cases for an upcoming
scanner enhancement? I've got that to do.
Otherwise the usual, probably get gas, get my food, and see my parents. I
expect many snacks. Then back to run game if Sean isn't feeling the effects
of his second covid shot.
Over the weekend I want to watch more Myst 3 footage, print (or attempt to
print) Sean's gift so I can have it out of the way, have my parents over for
a movie, and that's about it. Should be fairly quiet.
I'll probably work on minis and graphics for the next game tonight, though I
doubt I'll need them. We have much of the current mission to get through.
There's no getting out of this boss fight. ??? Right?
Hey, that's April done for you. Hope it turned out well for you, and I'll
see you next time.
