Fri:
Worked on Sean's gift which took most of the day if I'm being honest. Oddly,
trying to pose it resulted in the model just vanishing. Poof. Gone. Had to
delete everything in the scene but the model, (that didn't work) then export
it and load it into a new document so I could pose it. That did work, but
even so posing it was a pain.
Nothing exciting happened. Maybe software next week?
Oh, they did figure the voice thing out. It was a misconfiguration. Nice.
Maybe now we can get back to that so I can get this off my list finally?
That would be super nice.
Saw my parents, did the shopping, and came home.
Put stuff away, did game. As usual I thought it was the most straightforward
one so far.
We skipped the factory rescue because roll20 was down at the beginning, then
it came back. Sigh.
Anyway, still only got through part of it, but we got to a really good
stopping point.
Checked warframe, got the next piece of the ship I needed. I don't have all
the parts to repair it.
Sat:
Got the part to repair the ship.
Put the sword together after painting it.
Painted the hilt to get rid of the pink, I'll probably just leave it white.
It was supposed to be the prototype after all.
It doesn't look too bad! With more sanding and such it could be better, but
at least the cracks are filled. Made the little hilt decorations out of the
clay stuff my mother gave me. They are drying and will be glued on shortly.
Sites.
More warfarme as my ship was done being repaired.
Found the glue I was looking for. It was in the second of the "this needs to
go upstairs" spots, the first being, you know, on the stairs? It was behind
some larger stuff, mostly that spool of weird PLA I'm not sure what I'm
going to do with. But it still exists, so that's good. Now if I could just
find that little SD card reader. I suspect cats played with it.
Cleaning.
More warframe because I got another single player mission. How exciting,
another series of stupid missions I have to do myself in the primarily
multi-player game. Oh, you may not realize what I mean by all this. Let me
explain.
My current mission had me facing off as myself, a tiny, defenseless, squishy
human against a warframe, a purpose built supersoldier with shields,
advanced weapons, etc. My task was to use my tiny hand beam and remove the
shields of the warframe (which didn't regenerate, for reasons) I have 100
health. He can one shot me from a distance. How to proceed? After trying to
use the environment to kill him (there was a section with beams coming out I
thought could do the job, nope) I set one of the level enemies on him. They
seemingly could not damage one another. Neat. I ran away. Neither followed.
I hid, and looked it up. Apparently this is a problem for others and the
solution was to bug out his AI. Climb on top of something really high and
he'll just run back and forth, allowing you to pick him off at your leisure.
This is "gameplay" in warframe. I did this, running back into the room to
find both enemies just standing there. It's like they saw me coming and were
like "oh crap he came back, quick pretend to be killing each other again!!"
I mean I realize the AI isn't going to keep animating world elements when I
can't see them, it was just halarious to find them peaceing out when I
wasn't looking.But wait. It gets better. You use "energy" to fire
your little hand beam. This energy regenerates. Or does it? No,
no it does not. Either due to a bug or by design after a time of plinking my
beam off him (Oh yeah, I couldn't damage him normally. It was just 0 0 0 0 0
0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 when I hit him. Sometime I would crit and do up to 300
damage. This happened once or twice per sweep of the beam. Needless to say,
this took a long freaking time. Where was I?) oh right my energy
stopped regenerating. This meant I had to jump down, allow him to kill
me, then scramble up onto my high perch and start again. (From where
I left off, death was meaningless at that point) So now you know why I say
that warframe is a terrible single player game, and they should stop making
missions like that.
Ordered what I hope are the right replacement parts for my controller. From
China. They may or may not arrive in a few months. Who knows? But at least
I've heard of the place I bought from, it's real. I did later get a tracking
number for the order so it seems something is moving around.
Parents came for movie, then did some reading.
Sun:
Got up fairly early for a Sunday. Started work on printing Sean's gift. Cut
the base down by a bit so it didn't take 24 hours, and had to spend some
time getting the base of the base flat, so it would print. It just didn't
like it, and it took some doing. It's all because I smoothed it, wanted it
to look more rounded, which made the bottom part more rounded too. Even
extruding it straight down, it was tilted a little so it wasn't working.
Finally got it printing, estimate was 10 hours. I probably could have kept
it together, now that I think about it. The estimate was messed up because
the model was messed up. I should have fixed the model then gotten another
estimate. I'm dumb.
Checked sites, ate lunch.
Looked into planting the catnip that survived the year. No, it's going to
snow next week? Huh? I doubt it'll stick but still. Sigh. Maybe next week.
Not much of it survived, actually, it got like this white powder on the
leaves, and there were these little black things. They aren't bugs they
didn't move. I thought maybe eggs, but they never turned into anything. So
why did some of it die? I do see something coming up where I planeted the
rest of the seeds in the back, so maybe that's catnip and not just weeds.
Did my paperwork. Much better than last year, oddly. Let's not start that as
a trend, okay?
Finished my book finally, so I can start the one my parents found at the
bins.
Watched some Anime, haven't done that in ages. Printer is still going strong
at 7:00, it's getting there.
Made two calls, so I have through Wednesday booked. Yay for me. Tomorrow is
20+ minutes away, Tuesday is just down the street from work, Wednesday is
farm lady 30+ minutes away. So that's all fine. Maybe she'll even be there.
Got ready for tomorrow. Multiplayer warframe is still bugged, so none of
that.
Only one slight imperfection in the print. It looks pretty good actually!
Mon:
One work related thing to talk about, the developers or whatever other team
tests stuff tested upgrades and found while the status page says the card
file is the custom one, whoops, it's not. I hadn't found it because I didn't
want to do upgrade testing with incremental versions so I would have caught
it later. But they saw it and asked me to reproduce it. So I did.
Not much else, I worked on the next adventure, in case they get through
finding the aging guy faster than I expect. I know, it won't happen, but I
can be ready.
Went out to victor, I don't know really what his problem was. Seemingly
30-45 seconds after opening Chrome or Edge his video card just went away and
the screen went to sleep. No reason that I could see. Malwarebytes didn't
reveal anything. It was quite strange. I updated everything, turned off
notifications (why this is on by default I'll never know) and it seemed
fine. Huh.
Got home, worked on the second part of the base, but it was going to take
too long to print. I've got the gcode ready so when I have 5 hours to
babysit the machine I can get it started. Hopefully the job tomorrow being
closer will not take me as long?
Checked sites, watched videos, no calls today thank goodness.
When I was in the kitchen I looked out the window and saw Tinker sitting
there by the pile of sticks. I was like "how did you get out?" So I went out
there, and he ran away from me! Usually if he gets out he's all exploring
and doesn't go anywhere and I can just scoop him right up. But he ran past
the neighbor's yard and started across a tree trunk to further away from me.
There was no way I could catch him. I went back inside. Tinker was there. So
he's apparently got a twin out there. Same black cat, same white starburst
on the front. Maybe less white on one back paw. Scared me.
Tues:
One work related thing, loading a version of D5.4 onto a device to check if
login worked. Hard to say how they would have messed it up as the version
was only a few days older than what we tested (and here's a tip Don, ask us
what we tested and send the customer that, instead of just picking something
at random. Less problems that way!) I discovered there was a very long login
time, but only at first. Oh, it's still slower than I would like, and if I
could save a log maybe someone could look into why. But I'm back to the
whole not being able download the log. Great software, five stars. Anyway,
that was my big contribution to the day. Still nothing new in the versalink
department, don't know when that will come.
Otherwise went over the adventure in my head, and did some more writing.
Went to see "script error" guy and he said he had seen it for a year but
suddenly, suddenly, out of nowhere just today it didn't happen.
Nor did his other problems. Neat. So I wasn't there long.
Came back, started the print. One part has lifted off the bed but at 61%
(supposedly) done I think the rest will be okay. I'll have to fill it in,
but I wanted to paint at least this part of the thing anyway so it should be
fine.
No calls. Checked sites, had dinner.
Did some reading, a little warframe to try and get a blueprint part. No
luck.
Wed:
Actual work to do, at work? Say it isn't so! But it is. Got the versalink
software, at least a few models, so we started in on it. Looks fine, the
translation part of the one feature from before looks fine (it's only three
lines) and the new card works when we update the plugin. The plugin update
is also part of the test, and it worked fine. One thing that was odd was
that Christina put in the test cases that you couldn't scan to USB but I
managed it just fine. So I emailed her, she had left for the day.
And a little work on the D5.4 login time issue. I reloaded the machine back
to what it was before the test, so I can run the test again tomorrow.
Called the half an hour away lady before I went there to make sure we were
still on. We were not. She had a death in the family and wanted next week.
So I go there Monday. Suits me.
Came back here, had two calls. Ate dinner, checked sites, got ready for
tomorrow.
Made my calls. Spent an hour and 40 minutes on the phone being intuit tech
support, which really isn't what I signed up for. Just tying to get it to
open. It would try and update and fail with some ridiculous message because
of course it wouldn't be helpful. Finally just blew it away, stopped it
running the first time, ran the manual updater, opened it, ran the online
updates, and that finally worked. I hate both windows and Intuit products.
They are both terrible.
Going to bed early. No warframe for me.
Thurs:
Went over to feed everyone, Emily took her medicine... I wouldn't say
without complaint. But I got it in her. Everyone was fine.
Finished up the test Don wanted me to do. Couldn't reproduce the problem,
which of course is the worst. Possible. Thing. But I guess it shows
something didn't break between versions, just that something odd was going
on.
Finished up what I could do with the new card plugin. No issues. Only one
model to go, the one device they haven't actually gotten us the build for.
We are testing some sort of admin password reset thing and Kevin is going to
get us directions for tomorrow, so we'll have that to do.
Had the usual meetings, did not water the plants, as many more people are
around. I'll wait say two weeks and take a quick spin around. If any are
looking bad, I'll know they aren't getting attention. Easy.
Made some notes for the game tomorrow, if we even get to this part. Just
figuring out what spells the demons had, that sort of thing. Making sure
their stat blocks were good for the combat program.
Got into the guy's laptop and checked his desktop over. Both pretty slow,
but no real issues. I'm going to his business, which he's moving to his
house, to see about his PCs there, on Saturday. I guess this is a good time
to talk about the future.
Work tomorrow, getting litter I think but I have plenty of food for my
kitties at the moment. Regular shopping. And of course seeing everyone when
I feed them in the morning.
Running game. We need to stop by... let's see it'll take me a half hour to
drive there and I want to be there at 9:30 to get in line. So that's leaving
at 9:00. It takes me less than an hour to feed everybody but to drive there
I should leave by 8:00. That means getting up around 7:00. So we'll have to
stop by 10:30. 3.5 hours, it could be done, finishing up this adventure.
Anyway, so Saturday is up->feed->shot->over almost to the co-op. I
should be back by one I guess? Then I can maybe do some more 3D printing or
perhaps warframe?
Nothing planned sunday so we'll see how that day goes. If it looks like it
might stop snowing at some point I'll put those plants outside. Otherwise
nothing exciting planned.
Hope everyone is enjoying their "spring" however it's manifesting for them.
Not to worry, soon it'll be way too hot, and then a week later it'll be
