Fri:
Not much to talk about work wise. Set up the machine for the guy to look at,
so he can experience the magic of uploading an XML file for himself. Not
that he can test if it works because he's not here to stick a card into the
slot. Well, you can't have everything right? So I've been told, but it seems
some come closer than others.
Realized getting the healthcare (which is actually more expensive because
I'm a moron, it's per paycheck not per month, sort of missed that when I
signed up because see above...) was a terrible idea. Now it's tied to this
"employer." I've had 3 in the last 5 years. What happens the next time I'm
passed like a package to another company? Right, I'll have to get health
care all over again. Should have thought of that.
But my 401k does exist, and I had the money taken out for the health care so
I canceled the other one. Also made sure they didn't have my credit card
information, just in case.
Shopping, gas, and saw my parents. Worked out how to get her labels printed,
and got my hair cut.
Back here I put stuff away and ran game. Got just up to the fight at the
end, but it was midnight so let's do that next week. It's an awkward place
to stop because it's not worth a whole night (especially at the speed these
guys take out opponents) but I have no idea what they want to do next.
Sat:
Did paperwork from last month. 14 jobs, same as last year. Strange how that
happens.
Looked at bank account now that I can see it again, made sure my checkbook
was balanced.
Looked into tablet. Had to use the "crash 3 times in a row" method but I
think I've finally reset it. Trying it their way of holding the volume keys
or a volume key and the windows key at the top just didn't do it. But
crashing it out 3 times brought out the troubleshooting menu (so I guess I
should be thankful MS thought that far ahead) and was able to reset it back
to defaults, which removed the previous user. It's mine now! Maybe I'll put
it over on the couch, there's a lot of times I'm over there, don't have the
phone, and want to look something up. I was trying to look something up
about warframe and the Xbox browser is soooooo clunky it was just
frustrating me. But that could work.
Had lunch.
Played some warframe.
Then had game. We beat up doggies so yay? But we did "solve" the problem so
that's good. No real way to find those responsible though doesn't Alisa's
character have postcognition? *checks notes* They don't. Never mind, we have
no way to do it. Could have been anybody. Question is do we destroy such an
old and powerful magical artifact just because it inconvienced us once? The
dwarf in me says no, look at the craftsmanship on this thing!
And some more warframe.
Sun:
Checked sites, videos, made pie.
Also made muffins at the same time, but I feel there's so much less work
involved, did I really make muffins?
I mean I had muffins at the end so clearly I made the muffins but did I make
the muffins or did I just wet the muffin powder and add heat? Does stirring
make something? What does it mean to make something? If you make a birdhouse
did you grow the wood? Cut down the tree? Saw the planks? I don't think so.
Ate pie! No philosophical debate there, just pie.
Played warframe.
No calls today, just the lady from Friday night. Called her back. No answer.
She did later call me back, and it's her work machine so I guess it's not
practical to go there to get me on her system until the weekend. I mean it
make no difference to me I just hate to make her wait that long.
Got ready for tomorrow, the usual Sunday stuff.
Going to be stormy tomorrow, but hopefully not until at last 7:00 PM, so I
should be home. Home. Forever.
Can't think about game, don't know what my peep's next move is. Asked 'em.
That'll show 'em.
Mon:
Great start to the day. Was leaving and realized my mask wasn't in the place
it should be. This is the kitty one I wear to work. It's just gone. I know I
must have had it to leave the building, so it came with me. It then is put
in the bag I carry my lunch in and brought into the house. It then stays on
the table by the bag until Monady. There nowhere it could have gone. I don't
use it for anything else. But still, no mask. Where is it? How did it get
lost between the car Friday night and the kitchen table Monday morning?
Got in the car, and my radio didn't light up. No display. Raido still
worked, my iPod played music so that's good. When I pulled into the parking
lot it suddenly decided to work. Huh? What?
No mask on the peg here at work, I must have worn it home. Where the heck
could it be? The cats can't have played with it, right? It's a piece of
cloth, it wouldn't be interesting to them. So weird.
No snow yet in the morning, but they're still calling for it. I mean not
calling for it as one would call a dog, no one is standing out there
enticing clouds to our city but you understand my meaning. Right?
Nothing exciting at work, no news on a cert from the voice people but I did
have a meeting with Joe about a bug I wrote. Just have them fix the darn bug,
it doesn't matter if no one will configure the machine that way, the machine
is allowed to be configured that way so it should work! Darn it!
Sketched out what meeting the council would look like in game, and where
they would go from there. Have to come up with missions they can't just
solve with a snap of their fingers. How do comic book writers do it? Oh,
right, by forgetting exactly how powerful their characters are. (No one has
come back to me with a "we want to do this and this right after the fairy
thing) so they get what they get I guess.
Came back here, usual stuff there. One call, just a question I answered
right away. There's just one thing I've been wishing for. I wanna be,
Bobby's girl, I wanna be, Bobby's girl! Wait, what? Got ready for tomorrow
and did one mission in Warframe. The one that kicked me out before, wanted
to see if I could get through it.
Still had some time so I did another mission, then did game with the peeps.
Tues:
Had to clear the driveway in the morning, we didn't get a foot of snow like
they were calling for but it was a few inches.
And when I did, I found kitty mask! Yes, for some reason it was out in the
garage over by the snowblower. How did it get out there? Glad it was
somewhere, but that's a weird place for it.
Got out to work, it wasn't snowing that much at that point.
Still not much to do at work. I did check the new version of the onedrive
app which wasn't the onedrive app it was the sharepoint app so is it really
doing the same test? I'm not sure, but it's what I've got.
Otherwise, no new work. Thought about the next game.
Came back, had two letters from the security company again. I'm signed up
for autopay so how they keep screwing up the billing I have no idea. In any
case I waited on hold for more than 30 minutes and settled up. Apparently
their billing system didn't carry forward some return payment and when I
called them before this was never mentioned.
I wanted to cancel the whole thing once that was done but this person
couldn't, I have to call back tomorrow? What? Fine, I'll call tomorrow. I
don't see any way to cancel from the site, of course. Why make it easy?
Though I do see on their help page they're going to send me some kind of
DocuSign crap and I have to jump though a bunch of hoops. "It shouldn't be a
complicated process" my butt.
Stupid thing, telling me my balance was $30.84 but I had to pay $61.68. It
makes no sense.
Worked on stuff for the game, got a lot done. Need to maybe label the map
but otherwise I have the maps I need (I think).
Made my one call for the day.
Got ready for tomorrow and played warframe.
Wed:
The only work related news for today was doing a sanity check on a version
we're sending out early. Christina and I both loaded it onto a device and I
checked out the new card list uploader method. No issues, it should be fine
to send it. They didn't ask us to do this, we just did it. We're such good
employees.
Worked on the map for the game. Got that done.
Came back here, started on a second adventure in case we needed it, the
spirit quest stuff. Found my "The Sound of Flutes" book and looked up some
Native American stuff. Looked for graphics and thought about adventure.
No calls, played Warframe at 9:30 when Sean was out of classes.
Thurs:
Got up in the night and looked out the window, there were two deer sniffing
around the deck area. Neat. One went right up to the door, stayed for quite
a while too, don't know what they expected to find, but they were really
sniffing around.
Nothing exciting at work, nothing new at the moment still. Had the usual meetings,
finished up adventure stuff, watered the plants.
One call when I got home, a router issue I guess. Checked sites, videos, had
dinner.
Got my stupid code to get into the 401k website. And guess what? What? It
didn't work. Had to call them. They got me into the account. Yay! Guess
what? What? No money in the account. So $260 has been removed from me and
put... nowhere? Super great. So now I have to talk to A+ again. Guess what
grade I wouldn't give them?
Can you guess?
Tried to get some more of the parts I need in warframe, got 15 of the 50 I
needed. Died several times. Like I said before, not really a great single
player experience.
Made my one call, yes, broke my streak of not going anywhere. So I have a
call to make at 10:00 and then a 1:00 for a router and a checkup of and old
system. Should be easy enough.
Probably go back to looking for resources in the field. Stupid resources.
Not sure what I'll do tomorrow at work. Still nothing scheduled for some
time. But I will get a router, get groceries, maybe gas, and see my parents.
Then come home to run game. I think we're doing the spirit quest after we
finish up the fairy stuff.
Then the call and the job Saturday, no game so I'll probably have my parents
over. Then hopefully a quiet Sunday.
Only one more week of February. Time for annual sales tax, get it in. I'll
have had Squeaker for 12 years. He's an old man now.
Stay warm out there, looking at you Texas and your privately run energy grid
that totally failed you because of some snow. And it's not renewables fault,
either, don't let anyone tell you different.
See you next time!
