Fri:<br>
Helped with determining if barcode reader could be used with equitrac
instead of the usual prox card reader. In essence they do the same thing,
spit out a number that is compared to the known database. So in theory it
should work. Guess what. It didn't.<br>
Not much else.<br>
Went to bank, I can transfer IRA into CD IRA. Think I'll go shorter term
this time, maybe 2 years, than I can keep making new CDs rather than letting
5 years of money sit at .1% interest. Good plan. Not that either interest
rate is high enough to really make me anything, but what else can I do?<br>
Got paid, don't think I have a 401k, my calculations bear that out. See
Tuesday for more info.<br>
Oh, and no answer to "do I have a 401k and how do I know what you're taking
out." So thanks A+.<br>
Saw parents. Got food.<br>
Came back here, sites.<br>
Spent an hour on the phone talking about new vs moving stuff she's still
using some old XP CAD program she won't give up. Sigh. I'm heading there to
move the stuff.<br>
<br>
Sat:<br>
Cleaned up a bit, got rid of old phone books, I mean come on! Why am I
keeping these things? Straightened up the kitchen where they were, it was a
mess in that corner.<br>
Sites, videos.<br>
Figured out how to enable SLI on my video card again and use both displays!
I had an HDMI splitter that sends one HDMI signal to two sources. It was
being used before to send the Xbox output to the monitor and the projector.
So I just stuck on the PC instead. I don't need dual displays that was just
awkward. But one display shown twice? Yes, that could be useful. Okay, the
monitor is picked up so we're at 1080p instead of 4k on the TV but I was
upgrading from a 720p projector. I get a better framerate this way, both in
lowering the resolution required to display, and by throwing my second video
card at the problem. Suits me. Upgraded my drivers and played some more
River City Girls.<br>
Had lunch and played some arcade games. Yeah! Haven't done that in forever.<br>
Left for my 2:00. This worked out for all involved, as when I plugged it
into my Mac his drive worked just fine. So I plugged it into my laptop PC.
And it worked just fine. Now I was confused, and plugged it back into his
PC. Where it worked. Just fine. So what was the original problem then? It
wasn't loose, the machine did know it was there. So weird. So then I wanted
to get his backup working. And here we run into an issue. Event Viewer was
full of "nah, not gonna do it bruh." Thanks for bringing something so
crutual to our attention. Oh that's right you didn't. So I formatted the
drive to try and make it start over. It would start to run, not give an
error, and act like it finished just fine. Stupid thing. So I just turned it
off and put the seagate backup software on there. Whatever. It was copying
his document folder so apparently it was happy! Got back at 4:00. He called
the next day to say the backup had run, and we checked it and yes, the
expected folders were there. Whew. Thanks for nothing, MS.<br>
<br>
Played more River City Girls, got to the final boss room, but didn't go
forward because I didn't know how much time I had. Not much, as it turned
out.<br>
Did an event in Borderlands with the crew, which we didn't really complete
sadly. It was on the hardest difficulty and while Sean made a valant effort
he too was overcome in the end. Defeat!<br>
<br>
Sun:<br>
Beat RCG for the second time, yay!<br>
Started playing the DLC for Control, got into it, and moving email lady
called to remind me "weren't you supposed to be here at 1:00." AARG I hate
this crap!<br>
So I went out there (at 2:00), to move her email to another machine because
she's paranoid about it (you read about the job earlier) but it wound up
being Ellen 2.0. Oh, how do I make a folder. How do I move things into a
folder? Oh my goodness you people really? <br>
So when I got home (at <em>5:30) </em>I changed my phone message! My rates
are now $50.00 for a repair job, $40.00 an hour for tutoring. Because this
is insane. You have had the modern computer as early as 1984 or as late as
1995. That's at least 26 years. There are now people with kids four-six
years old who have never lived in a world without the "modern" computer.
Think about that. You should know, by now, how to make a folder and how to
file things in the folder. Really! You should.<br>
Got back, worked on the backstory for the superhero game as Sean was asking
about it.<br>
<br>
Mon:<br>
Wrote up the whole backstory, answered the questions they had from last
night.<br>
Played some Control. Got through the first DLC, which I enjoyed. A good
amount of content, and some more information about the Oldest House as well.<br>
Sites, lunch.<br>
Then played Battleborn until 5:30 with the crew, for the last time. Got more
than half way through. Well, to be clear we're playing the entire campaign
for the last time, so that wasn't the last time we'll play it. I hope that's
clear.<br>
Then got ready for tomorrow. No calls today but did have one from yesterday.
He of course wants me to come over, and he's a half hour away. He wanted
Wednesday, so fine..<br>
So I called LCD lady for tomorrow, and may I remind you she too is... half
an hour away. Neat! So much driving. Thanks for working out so great,
universe.<br>
<br>
Tues:<br>
The lady from A+ wrote me back, on... a... Sunday? Odd. Anyway, sent me the
link to get my pay stub, and yes, as I expected the math worked out
perfectly no 401k. But her second message was I don't get that until 2/1 so
huh? Hokay. Sure. I guess that's fine.<br>
Did a bit more of the barcode stuff for Kevin and looked at my pay stuff now
that I had it.<br>
As I had gotten no answer for the voice or the celiveo stuff I emailed them.
Tried some more celiveo stuff on my own. Figured out the command line tool,
directions for the win! No help. Whoops.<br>
No help with the voice thing either. Sigh.<br>
So I made character concepts for the game and thought about plots.<br>
<br>
Left there, went over to put in the LCD. It was the right one! Yay! I'm
keeping the old one, she said she never saw it again but used it only
sparingly. So who knows if it's broken or not. No really, can you tell me
who knows?<br>
<br>
<br>
Did sites, videos, made my two phone calls. Booked Thursday for some general
stuff, and Saturday for more general stuff. <br>
Thought we might do some Battleborn but then we didn't? So I talked to
another lady who couldn't demonstrate any of the things she said she had
seen in the past. That was 40 minutes. Sean wants to do Battleborn at 7:00
tomorrow and as you know I have the 1/2 hour away job so hopefully it won't
take more than an hour because in the best case that's 6:00 leaving me an
hour to make calls, eat dinner, and get ready for Thursday. Best case. I
guess we'll see what happens.<br>
<br>
Almost 9:30 now, maybe I'll check some sites for the game as I'm not
starting control this late.<br>
<br>
Wed:<br>
Had some actual work today. Not much in the morning. Did get in touch with
the celiveo people they want a meeting tomorrow at 9:00. Great I think to
myself. So he sets the meeting up. For 8:00. What? I think to myself. <br>
<br>
At around 12:00 Don is like "hey can you test this thing that comes out at
like 2:00 that we need tomorrow?" Uh, what? So we're giving companies random
daily builds that haven't been tested, and then they find bugs in them
making us look bad and then we have to scramble around to fix them and then
test the fix in two hours on two machines? Uh, no? That's not how the
process should work, friends. <br>
<br>
But we each took a machine, because he wanted the fix checked on the old
build (why??) and the new one. I left with Christina finding a bug she was
talking to Don about. He called me and I was like hey, I thought it was
fine, she did this weird thing and it did this other thing talk to her.
Which was completely true.<br>
<br>
Helped Adnan a little reloading a machine.<br>
<br>
So hopefully we'll get celiveo straight tomorrow and can take it off the
list. Meeting day! <br>
<br>
Went out to Henrietta, solved his problems (barely) and made it home with
one hour and ten minutes to spare. Ate dinner, got ready for tomorrow, had
one call- oh, your iPad has a password screen and you claim to never have
put one on? Sure, I believe you. (I didn't) You'll need to restore it. Oh,
you can't, because you don't have iTunes? Let's download iTunes. Oh, you
can't, because you have Win8? Super! An hour later 10 started installing and
I got off the phone.<br>
<br>
It didn't matter, we were going to play battleborn but the servers couldn't
be reached. Sigh. So we did nothing.<br>
<br>
Checked my sites, now that I had the time. Made sure I was ready for
tomorrow. <br>
I think I completely forgot to get my mail.<br>
<br>
Thurs:<br>
There was no mail to forget.<br>
So I got to the meeting on time and everything went great. We turned off
ipv6 on the server, and that allowed the box and the printer and the server
to play nice. Good job accounting for that, fools. Turning ipv6 on the
printer probably would also have worked. Why didn't it try one and fall back
to the other? Don't ask dumb questions.<br>
<br>
So I signed off thinking everything was fine. Had the normal meeting which
ran long, and went to do 8 different things asked of me. I took traces of
login to contrast with the failed D5.4 login, which they think now isn't
Kereros, it's part of the username getting whacked off when presented to the
system. Makes sense.<br>
<br>
Then I finally figured out how to make the virtual printer and download it
and install it (oh goodness I hate this stupid product) and submit a print
job and... the printer can't talk to the box. Suggestion: sync again? Okay.
Ha ha, it won't sync again. You've got to be kidding me. So I have another
meeting at 8:00 with them tomorrow. Neat.<br>
<br>
Had the other meetings, revised my super hero point system, (I mean did
other work related tasks that escape me right now!) and watered the plants.
<br>
<br>
Went over to see yippy dog lady, petted her little dog, and answered some
basic questions. Like hitting the print button on a site not printing the
whole freaking site. And pinch and zoom. Yeah, that's the stuff.<br>
<br>
Came back here. Answered questions in discord about super hero stuff.
Checked sites. Got ready for tomorrow.<br>
Played some warframe, to get through the tutorial and to a place I can join
the others on missions. They're so far ahead of me in level I don't know how
I'm not going to be slaughtered but maybe this game works like Borderlands
and each person gets a scaled enemy? <br>
<br>
Talked to iPad guy, apparently win10 didn't take, what a shock, (it is odd
though) and of course he didn't know what the error was because "it
disappeared" sure it did. So I'll just pick the thing up tomorrow on the way
to shopping. He wants an SSD installed anyway so I can try out my new drive
copy gizmo. Neat. <br>
<br>
Speaking of tomorrow, let's put the celiveo thing to rest and do... other
work. Yes. Muchly other work.<br>
<br>
Then get gas, see my parents, get food. Not in that order. No game, we may
start the superhero game next week though.<br>
Neil will be here, that's why. We may try Battleborn or do Warframe
Saturday.<br>
I do have one job so far, and of course iPad guy's stuff. Otherwise let's
stay in and stay warm!<br>
<br>
Hope you're enjoying the new administration, and there's only a week and a
half of January left. We're getting through it!<br>
See you all next week.
