2020-11-12:

Fri:
Nothing came in, quite a surprise or wait no what's the opposite of that?
Certainly didn't write another chapter. Nope, just important work stuff, I just can't seem to recall what it was now.
Emptied paper bins, two of them. Someone had been testing field returns I guess and printed up stacks and stacks of paper. That was overflowing our recycle bins so I wheeled them down to the tipping machine so they could be taken care of.
Found a big copper pipe in the metal recycle bin. Don't know why I'm mentioning that, but I am.
Got loads of cat stuff down at the tractor supply place.
Groceries.
Dropped stuff off, saw Emily, she's not doing too well I'm afraid. Poor Emily.
One call, "oh hope we can do something this weekend." It's two laptops, "for work?" Then why isn't work supporting you?
We'll have to see how Saturday goes, if I even call him.
Dinner, sites, then The Division with the crew. Neil joined us, at level 225 or so, and suddenly the enemies were level 25 and one bullet dropped us. I mean, that's how it would go in reality but we could do no damage to them so Neil had to go. Sorry! You're just too powerful.

Sat:
Made salmon patties, tried to get cats to pee. They did not. Called the vet at 10:00 as they close at 12:00 but couldn't get them in. Sigh. They have space at 7:30 Monday, so I'll come home, give them the other can's worth of salmon water, and hope they have some pee to give by then.
Had lunch for breakfast and breakfast for lunch.
Ordered from Staples got half off, got a router as I don't have one. Don't replace them too often anymore but there is the odd one here and there so I figure I should have it. And as I got it for half off, I figured might as well.
Cleaning. Don't know if we're doing anything tonight (spoiler: we didn't, I could have had my parents over. Sigh)
Paperwork from last month.
Then out to see about printers and undoing stuff I've already done.
The lady with the printer just needed to not select the old one. Not sure why I didn't delete the old one when I was there. Oversight?
1Then set up the (ancient, slow) machine again and installed the printer onto it (for like a half hour). Seriously, it just sat there grinding away, first searching the network for it, then "installing the driver" which would take "approximately three minutes" for twenty minutes. Every time I see a time like that I want to yank the developer into the room, pinch their nose, and say "you're going to hold your breath for the time listed on this screen. Are you sure it's accurate? Are you?"
Called two other people. LCD guy was out of town until tomorrow (gag me) and "2 laptops" guy "for work" didn't answer. Neat.
Now what?
Leaves I guess. Did the leaves. I figured I would check for calls every ten minutes or so. On the first check 2 laptops guy called, he says he has two with dead wi-fi. Okay. But couldn't see him today because he was "booked up today and tomorrow." Oh really? Then why, praytell, did you say "I hope we can get together this weekend because I need them for work" if you were "booked up" both days? Did your situation change or did you just lie? Hey, remember how Our Great Leader said there would be a vaccine by election time? Whatever happened to that? Did we all get it and I didn't notice, or was that just another lie?
Finished leaves, I told him it might be a good idea to have me look at them, just in case it's something simple as I suspect, and not a hardware issue. I mean how often do those little wi-fi cards break in laptops, vs MS crappy software code being the problem? I mean really.
Watched Equilibrium, a good follow up to V. It's almost the same movie, in a certain sense, just with more guns.
Worked on the book.

Sun:
Made soup. Kind of ironic, "oh it's november, the rain has started, it's going to be nasty it's soup time!" LOL nope, it's going to be sunny and 70s maybe because even the world has hope again after recent events? You know the ones.
Checked sites.
Worked on the latest chapter, made a plan for them moving forward. There are still some surprises, like gravity is higher on this planet, they'll have to do something about that.
Played some Shantae.
Showed once again I'm an idiot. Left to deliver the printouts to book guy, and then go down the street to the next place. Delivered the printouts (to a bench because there was no one at the front desk) got back in the car, and my second invoice wasn't there. Now, a normal person would think "that invoice must be stuck to the printouts I just delivered" because again aforementioned idiot, I looked in the car and went home. Figuring I had screwed up, not put in with the panel like I had thought, and it was still there someplace. Not there. Went back, after getting the address again, and there it was. Such an idiot. Yay! And then I went to put it in. I went to put in the first screw, and noticed the panel is cracked on the side. It's totally bent! Doesn't seem to have damage on the box, and it was wrapped pretty good, but it's unusable. So I get to go back there again, after I return this one, which I can hopefully do because it was insured? I hope? So great.
Got ready for tomorrow. No calls, thank crap. This coming up week is brutal:
Cats tomorrow at 7:30 to try and get urine.
Then tuesday is the pipe thing if they come this time, have to be here from 3:00-5:00 so I have to leave work early.
Oliver in Wednesday at 3:10.
Then Thursday Tinker goes in for his tooth cleaning. Ugh. Really hope it's a light week this week, but you know the universe can't allow that!

Mon:
Nothing new came in over the weekend, work wise. But other wise: Our Great Leader is refusing to concede the post, the first in recent memory to do so. What a great leader is Our Great Leader. He just wants to do more for us, the people, despite what could be seen as an overwhelming loss. He works tirelessly for us little people- sorry I'm being handed a bulliton. Says here he's spent his time golfing for the last two days? While Joe puts together a virus task force and pledges to undo some of the "harm" Our Great Leader did (like leaving the paris accords and pulling out of the WHO) he is on the golf course? Screw him then.

Nothing new came in today so it was quite boring.

Came back, fed the cats some nice salmon water and put them in the bathroom until the 7:30 time. Two calls, "oh can you come Tuesday" that's tomorrow by the way. Nope. Even if I wasn't waiting for the gas pipe person there's someone ahead of you. "Or Thursday?" Maybe, but I have to get Tinker back at some point.

Okay, so went to the vet. No problems she said, so that's good. Another $30.00 charged. Sigh. I was already changed $200 for the "blood work and urinalysis" so.... whatever.

Came back here, made the two calls. So her "computer" and "iPad" are slow but really I think it's her internet connection that's the issue. She's getting 28Mb/sec down and .14Mb/sec up. Yes, that's a point one four you see there. Figured out the problem? So nothing for her until she solves that one.
The other I said I would try for tomorrow after the pipe guy leaves. Presuming they come, of course. It's a big if.

Got ready for bed and it was 9:00. Great.
But the first day of "let's just do everything possible this week!" week is over.

Tues:
Same story as yesterday work wise. Nothing new came in. I did assist Don in telling him what paper was coming out of what tray and going to what bin though, so that was fun. Maybe I'll get something from the voice people tomorrow?

Left early, came back here and the gas pipe guy actually came this time! Yay! He looked at the gas meter, said essentially "yup that's a gas meter" and left. Really? The last guy looked at the gas pipes in the whole room, capped off the one leading to the old stove I have down there, you know, an inspection. Well, whatever dude, if you're happy I'm happy!

So I called "move my stuff" lady, oh, you can't do it today because "your husband" signed you up for something with your daughter? So you tell the man "no, I have an appointment with Robert." So I didn't go do that today! Her new PC has been in the box for several months she admitted, so clearly it's not that much of a concern for her. We're trying for Thursday now.

So I did the leaves instead. The thing I, quite honestly, wanted to do anyway. They're 80% down I would say. Most of the top is down, it's the bottom, that always is the last to fall, that's left. Very big pile in front. The biggest pile, really, I won the entire pile in many states. In Pennsylvania they didn't let me have access to the people that count the leaves but I know I won big there too.

The new Xbox launches today, and new Macs with Apple Silicon. Watched the video for that, they were like "your Mac wakes from sleep instantly!" Mine already does that. "Programs launch instantly." Yeah, they already do. You're going to have to try harder to get me to replace my 2008 Mac, Apple. Seriously.

Went to MS.com to see the new Xbox pages. They're out of stock, apparently. With no "please let me give you a credit card number and ship me one as soon as possible" button to replace it. Just "out of stock." I guess there will never be more made. Sad.

Checked sites, yummy soup, no calls today? Thank goodness. Tomorrow is Oliver at 3:10.

One call, and an email came in later. Sigh.

Wed:
Some news to talk about today. We did get a new build of the voice system. It had two *yes two* fixes. One of the fixes was the background suppression from email and fax. This worked! Yay! The other fix was scaling in copy. This didn't work. Boo! And they put in the equitrac stuff so I set up the equitrac server with the machine. I can't test it though, I don't have the whole solution. We're going to try that Friday. So in all it was like an hour of work, including the meeting talking about what they had done. I guess it was something.

Otherwise, you know what I did. You know.

Left early, got Oliver who was a good little man on his appointment. Of course I didn't have the attack history because I am dumb, but I knew it had been going down so that's good. She said he was fine, lost the extra weight he was supposed to lose. Well, yeah, he doesn't even eat his dry and I got him a different, no grain kind, in the morning. Silly. The others don't seem to like it either though, it sits out. Weird. It's smaller, maybe that has something to do with it? I would have thought it would be vacuumed up.

Got out of there in about an hour, so they're really humming or it just wasn't as busy today. There were less cars there. Of course I'm going back 7:40 tomorrow for Tinker's teeth. And this somewhat bad week will be over. It's two weeks to turkey day. Haven't I usually finished my shopping by now? Where are lists?

No calls today, thank goodness, but I called the guy from the email. He wants to do network stuff but he's not ready to do it yet.
I told a lie, the router lady from yesterday called, it's her router so we'll replace it Saturday. No big deal.

Tried playing some Castelvania. It was fine for a bit, then there was an annoying puzzle (in a slashem up game?) and then the next boss (why did a big thing come out of the ice? It doesn't even make sense) was a puzzle as well. An annoying one. I mean the ice creature is just stuck in the ice. Why can't I just, I don't know, run away from it? It can't follow me, why do I have to beat the crap out of it? After dying twice I said, you know what, this is kinda terrible and turned it off.

Thought about how I want the raid on the transmission center to go for the next chapter.
In a spot of good news a new LCD is on the way to me, didn't even have to send the old one back. Neato.

Thur:
It's over. The "let's do everything this week" week is coming to a close. It couldn't have happened fast enough.
Brought Tink in for the teeth cleaning and my eyeballs popped out at the $900+ price tag. That made driving to work a bit of a challenge, I had to set them on the dash.
Didn't have much to do in the morning, and was worried because of all the "your pet may for real actually die from this" scary talk they make you sign. Didn't do any writing. I shouldn't have worried, (I mean he's been through this before) I got a call around noon he was fine, and needed no extractions! Yes! The bill dropped so much they actually owed me money. Because they make you pay half up front. So that was a bit of a relief. They had his old x-rays to compare to, he's lost a little bone and she wants me to try brushing his teeth. Sure, that'll go down well. Maybe I'll just give him 6 of the dental treats instead of 3? They also want urine from him again in a few weeks, they found "crystals and protein." Sigh.

Louis said there were complaints in the field about the hands washing thing slowing or messing up Versalinks, so I got two ready for more testing. They were not exhibiting the problem(s) discussed, only one of which I had seen myself. I emailed them about it some time ago but got no traction so either I fixed it by reloading the machine or just shrugged because I can only tell you things once guys. In any case I wasn't seeing it now, so we'll see how tomorrow goes.

Of course I had the two meetings, and watered half the plants because I had to go get Tink at 3:40. He was fine, not even groggy and ate up all the food the other two had left. They were like "oh, just give him a little..." and he was like "I'm eating all this" and I said "though you are a cat and do not really know your own mind I will let you do this thing that you think you want to do." It was fine.

I found in the recycle bin a whole crapton of our old(ish) tablet bezels, some still in wrapping. What? There are android tablets in there, you know. I'm gonna break some of them apart tomorrow to get the tablets out. For spares or whatever. I'd love to have a tablet actually, rather than carry my laptop around if I want to just look at a machine interface. That would be cool.

This is the future, dang it!

Nothing else work wise I guess.

Went to do the transfer of files. When she said she was putting me "on the porch" I assumed an enclosed porch. Nope. Didn't know I would just be chilling outside. And chilling was right, it got down to 45 degrees. Thanks. There's careful, and there's paranoid, lady. Figure it out. Also my linux trick didn't work because the drive was mounted read only. Ugh? So I had to sit there and watch it do "permissions" before it would copy. The 130+ GBs of files. Yay. I love sitting and watching progress bars in the cold and the dark! I really do! At least the paid me double. Oh, and her machine sucks, it's so slow. They put a 2TB drive in there, but it takes soooo long to boot up. It's crap.

Finally got back here, ate dinner, sites, etc.

Let's look to the future. Next week is Xerox Day 2002 when I got laid off the first time. Otherwise not much of note. Someone should get me lists. Hint hint.

Tomorrow is grocery day, getting gas probably, and dropping stuff off. No parents yet I think? I think I recall that. Then game.

Saturday is two appointments, wi-fi guy to see what his actual problem is, and help setting up a printer.
Or was that Sunday? There's one sunday too. No, Saturday one is setting up a new router. Right. So those should be fairly straightforward.

They came and took the leaves, I want to maybe do the final push Saturday? I hope I get some time it's going to rain Sunday according to forcasts at the moment. Hopefully most will be down by that time, more have come down.

Game Saturday too, with Alisa as either a guest star or a new recurring character. Don't know yet.

And so that is that. I made it through the week. Hope you did too. I'll see you back here in one week time where I'll be saying see you back here for turkey day!

bye!
