Fri:
A lot more writing test cases today, for the stupid no touch copy we've come
up with. You would think an app you are not even supposed to interact with
would not have that many test cases associated with it. So far 70 test
cases. It's mainly setting certain preferences for later, and making sure it
cancels right. I mean it won't be too hard a test, just longer than I first
thought
Not much in the afternoon though.
Shopping, saw my parents. Even got to pet the littlest kitten who remains
scared of everything. Like anything has ever really scared him in his life
since he moved in there.
Came back, dentist guy called like 3 times. I think he needs to put his
printers on the wi-fi. I told him he would have to put all his devices on
the wi-fi when we changed his router (he had two of them and not using the
one for reasons?) and wrote down the password but I still don't think he
gets it. Sorry, not getting back to you until, uh, monday night? It's a
holiday weekend, see ya!
Then game. We helped the dwarves out a little bit, you know, saving their
whole city from a mind flayer attack. It's what we do. No, no, thanks are
not necessary. It was our honor.
Sat:
Did some cleaning, vacuumed the carpet twice so it can be washed. Still
can't get over how much I pick up on a second run. We need more power!
Washed the deck.
Took all the stuff out of the back of the car. You know something, I don't
think it's all going back in there. Like the two boxes of power supplies,
those things are heavy. I mean it's probably not all that much from a
gasoline engine perspective but it doesn't help. And things like electric
cords, old PATA cables, PATA CD ROM drives, the list goes on.
Had the inspection. Was in and out, and hey some "scattered showers"
happened while I was there. Made some notes for the next book if I ever
finish this one.
Carefully put stuff back into the car because I didn't want to haul all that
junk around anymore. I'll need to put the other stuff someplace
but for now the garage floor is just as well.
Did another part of the pour. It looks okay so far?
Made some pretty darn good brownies if I do say so myself.
Won Bayonetta 2. Moving on to Xenoblade, see what it's about.
Pour hardened, need to pour, more.
Sun:
Happy Labor day, a day early. As usual, a big thank you to my parents for
their help and assistance in getting it done a little bit after lunch. What
it is you may ask? Just the usual. Trimming bushes and taking the old berry
bushes out.
Putting some sealer on the back part of the driveway.
Washing the carpet.
Fixing the window in the back of the garage. We still need to paint it and
putty it up though.
Dad put new washers on the toilet bowl.
Sealing the deck.
Then I played some more Xenoblade Chronicles X. Getting into it. It's like
Mass Effect, but with more turn based combat than me sniping from a mile
away as the AI controlled enemies stand around doing nothing as their
buddies fall one after another because I'm not close enough to trigger their
aggression routines. You know, the usual. The planet must be 40-60% oxygen
to support creatures that big, who by the way kill me. Why give a one star
difficulty rating to killing a huge thing I can hardly scratch? Weird.
There's a lot of stuff to keep track of too, equipment, class, skills, arts,
relationships, and why is the highest defense armor a schoolgirl uniform?
Doesn't make sense to me. But I'm having some fun with it, now that I've
figured out the fast travel system and such.
Mon:
More Xenoblade basically.
Did more pour. Looks like that hardened too, and it crept around the edges
so I think one more pour will finish it up, and I can clean the extra off
and start sanding it. (The wax paper stuck to the thing, despite the
internet telling me that wouldn't happen. Thanks, internet. So I'll have to
sand it off to make it shiny again) I had some mixed I was waiting for, the
usual hour so it didn't creep around the edges as much, but it hardened
right in the cup! What the heck? I tipped it over and was like, wait, what's
going on here? It never hardens that fast. When I was doing Neil's I waited
4 hours just so it was tacky enough the center part didn't move when I
poured the top. But this was just *blam* hard. Weird.
System dropped off, started on that. Huge gaming machine, like, bigger than
mine. Ugh.
Hung installing Win10. Great! Why does it have to download the files again
when I start the upgrade again? Didn't it just do that? Doesn't it have them
saved? If not, why not? *smacks table*
Hung again, hadn't even gotten to the install piece. Odd. Heatsink wasn't
that warm, maybe I'll take it off and reapply thermal paste, maybe it's
overheating.
Then another system got dropped off. Changed the power supply and it stayed
running. She said I could keep it, see if it was ok and run some scans, so I
did that. It stayed running so that seems good. Needs it for collage by the
14th, plenty of time.
Moved 3 trees. Hope you live little mutant tree! It has no red inside the
flower. Strange. Still soooo many back there. I was joking with my mother
about growing more trees than berries (which are looking a little sparse
back there). She suggested leaving them until there's a garden show and
maybe selling them there. It could work. Have to remember to federalize back
there, maybe in spring? She suggested cutting them back a little too, maybe
I should get the leaves out of there as well? I leave them mostly because I
don't have a rake that tiny and I figured it would break down, act as a
natural fertilize but they seem to be just sitting there. Hummmmm. Maybe I
could use my leaf vacuum, my blower can be converted in such a manner.
Got ready for tomorrow. Back to work.
Did some games with the crew, even Kate joined us which doesn't happen very
often. That was sort of last minute, to be honest I had forgotten all about
it as we hadn't done it in a few weeks. But I was ready in time so...
Came up with a different situation for the rescue. What if the circus place
is packing up, and the cages, including the sprite Lysanias is supposed to
be rescuing is on the road already? That's more dramatic I think. We'll see
how it plays out.
Tues:
Wait I have to go back to work? Who decided on that?
Started with the D5.4 test, the card string insertion, which had finally
actually happened. So no matter what, IÕve accomplished at least one thing
this week, work wise.
Took the harassment prevention training as mandated by CTG, my real
employer. ThatÕs right, Xerox, youÕre not me real dad!
Then worked on logging in for the Celiveo group who wanted to get logs. At
least the darn thing seem to have installed on the device, thatÕs further
than I got and maybe we can finally put that to rights in a bit. Would be
nice.
Nothing much interesting in the afternoon. The new stuff hasn't come yet, so
Louis lied to me about Friday or Tuesday so maybe tomorrow?
Finished a chapter so the next chapter should be getting the sprite out of
the moving truck she's been loaded into completing the rescue.
I read today that the campaign to re-elect Our Great Leader Trump is almost
out of money, and Our Great Leader Trump has offered to use *gasp* his own
money if he had to. But this isn't what I want to talk about. The amount of
1.1 billion dollars nearly spent is the thing I wish to
discuss. For example, is this amount of money, spent on presumably
advertising, really being put to good use? At what point does Our Great
Leader DeTrump say, you know what? Am I doing one billion dollars of
good in the world? Or could that one
billion dollars be better spent? How many social programs could
have been fully funded for the next ten-twenty years with a piece of one
billion dollars? Hey Great Leader DeTrump, want to know an easy
way you could have gotten every single vote there could be for our next
little popularity contest? Come close and I'll whisper it to you.
1) raise ONE BILLION DOLLARS
2) Announce that you are giving, to established, known, worthwhile*,
charities ONE BILLION DOLLARS.
Everyone in the country would have fallen all over themselves because of
your generous nature and actually wanting to solve problems in the US
instead of make new ones. But no. Instead you have spent 1,000,000,000
dollars and what, exactly, do you have to show for it? Some web adds about
your opponent's "socialism" that are lost in the noise of every other web
add people collectively ignore? Great job, 10/10, would pay for again.
*when I say worthwhile here I mean not places like the Salvation Army who
have shockingly backwards views on say gay marrage for the current (end)
times we live in. Do not donate to the Salvation Army!!!!
In other news I got my first holiday catalog today. "Bring on the
Holidays" it says. Yes please, because then we can drunkingly lurch into
2021 and maybe, just maybe, forget the nightmare that was 2020. Maybe.
After work went to see the guy down the street. Moved his iMac downstairs
because he's getting too old to go up the stairs. Reset his passwords as
usual. Tried to figure out why his wi-fi was so slow. General questions
answered.
Came back, turned the PC on to make sure it stayed running. I'll call
her/him tomorrow and say "get it out of here!" Nicely. Checked sites, got
ready for tomorrow as usual.
Made a call, just some questions.
Didn't reach digitizer guy.
Didn't reach Mitch.
Then he called. A half hour to get him to play a DVD. Know what his problem
was? The disk was still in his hand, not in the drive. Maybe he thought it
would wirelessly beam into the computer so he could watch it?
Hopefully finished the pour for Mizzy. If it hardens like a Metapod, we'll
be in good shape.
Wed:
Seems like it did, I haven't had a chance to pull it apart yet but it's not
sticky at all.
Anyway, work was sticky. What does that even mean? I have no idea.
Turns out the hands thing would have been ready yesterday, I just didn't get
notified of the IM by Louis. Why didn't he email me, I would have seen that?
Oh well. We had the gabi meeting and I can actually use the app now, what a
wonder. So I went back and forth between the two because the hands thing
just isn't working and he was trying various things to make it work. Mostly
I was just telling him what messages appeared on the screen from his
debugging code. It's as glamorous as it sounds.
The Mavis guy called, he had the shocks in and he could see me that day so
having nothing else to do after work I went down there. Got that taken care
of.
Back here I checked sites, ate dinner, made sure the power supply system was
still working, and looked into the other system. Two of the fans weren't
spinning but oiled up they seem fine. I found a bunch of dust in the
heatsink too when pulling it apart and the thermal paste was all over the
place so I have to wonder if she knew what she doing? Anyway, cleaned it and
applied new paste, had a scare the machine wouldn't boot but it did. it's
trying the upgrade again now.
Made calls. A lady with an iPad behaving strangely, she says it crashes to
the password screen when she does stuff and it won't show up in iTunes so
who knows. Didn't reach Jim about his iMac issue, and Ellen is being a ditz
as usual.
The changes to the gaming system seem to have allowed it to boot so with
windows installed I... wiped the drive and installed windows. I actually put
it on the 1TB drive installed not the stupid tiny drive she put it on. What
was she thinking?
Thurs:
Pretty busy today, had one more meeting than usual and the normal morning
meeting went an hour not a half hour.
Tested the hands app in 3 machines of 5, it had some weird network issue so
I couldn't get the other two done. I'll get that finished up tomorrow for
sure. At least he figured out what the issue was for why it wasn't working
fairly quickly. He hadn't included a certain library. Silly.
Had the morning meeting, the afternoon meeting, and the new afternoon
meeting about some excel thing that actually didn't work out. So it was
basically a waste of time. Neat. I watered the plants early because it was
3:30 to 4:00 and that's plants time. Many were wet, maybe I don't have to do
it too much longer?
Came back here, did sites, turned on the PC for a few more hours of runtime,
looks good. I'll tell her it's done.
Changed the digitizer for the guy who came at 5:30. It actually came with
the LCD *sigh* so I refunded him that money. I realized as he was writing
the check I could have just given him his first check back (I forgot to put
them in this Sunday) and just have him write a new check. Whoopsy!
Anyway that went fine.
Now to get ready for tomorrow.
Future: Tomorrow we'll finish up the hands up (I hope) though he was making
changes to it like deleting his debug messages instead of just commenting
them out. Maybe I should wait? Hummm. Shopping, seeing my parents. I'll
probably get cat food. I was looking to order online, with their auto ship
it would be a $3.00 savings but they don't have any litter so I would have
to go down there anyway! So forget it, I'll just go down there. It's Sean's
mother's birthday so no Friday game, but the Saturday game seems to be on.
So no movie with my parents this week.
Weekend: Cut the back lawn. Finish Mizzy's gift. Play some Borderlands 3 as
the next expansion is out. No calls as of yet so shouldn't have any work to
do. Work on the next chapter? Do the paperwork from last month. Maybe some
window stuff? Who am I kidding, it'll just be Xenogears.
I'm worried about Wedge Mouse. He's got some kind of growth or infection
near one of his back legs. It's not bleeding but it doesn't look right. He
seems to get around he was running in the wheel and I saw him go up the tube
so I know he knows how but it's still not a thing that should be there. Hope
he's okay! I'm not going to the vet for a mouse, you know. I'm sorry, but
that's just how it is.
Called gaming PC lady, she's coming tomorrow at 7:00, may as well I'll be
here.
I guess that's about it for this week. We're well into September and Fall is
coming up fast. Not that I want to start a panic about it, of course. Can
you taste the pumpkin spice... advertisements? I know I can.
See you all next week, have a good weekend everyone.
