2020-09-03:
Fri:
Fairly busy today, lots of tasks put in by Kevin relating to card readers.
Did some of the total testing of a card reader on two machines. The other
machine I need to complete the tasks is signed out until Tuesday, so he's
out of luck until then.
Looked at the next version of the versalink software and it got a little
better. Seems to process more of them at a time but still errors out on some
of them. Progress, I guess.
That took basically the whole day.
Got gas, groceries, saw my parents and even Onyx! Briefly. Even let me pet
him, a little. Silly boy, what happened to the kitten I was playing with
when he was first brought home? He's never known true fear in his little
life, why is so scared of everything? Nualogical disorder of some kind? Huh.
Got the driveway stuff and came home.
Did game, we took possession of another magical orb but at the cost of one
of our current magical orbs, and we're stuck like a mile underground now.
Not really a great trade, honstely.
Sat:
Cleaned a bit.
Went out at 10:00 for keyboard lady. Just set her up with it, no issues
there. Hopefully that puts the whole thing to rest.
Took money out of a fund I can't use in NY for some bizarre reason.
Put money in for another mutual fund, as that seems to be the only place
reasonable to make money work for you. Hope you like the risk of losing
everything!
Wrote down stuff for the game, I had some questions for Sean and I wanted to
make sure I got everything covered. Didn't matter, where we went worked a
lot differently than what I was expecting but we prevaled in the end.
Lunch
Played some bayonetta 2, almost got stuck on a door, accidentally reloaded
the level and it worked the second time. Strange, but I'll take it, I'm
enjoying the game.
Made dinner.
Did the game at 4:00. It's another murder mystery. Was Iron Man a bad idea?
Sun:
Filling the cracks in the driveway took all morning. Got the majority of
them though, it's strange how the front part cracks, but the back part
"wears" but doesn't crack. It's like the top part wears a lot faster on the
back part. Because it's in the shade? More water back there? I don't know.
Had lunch.
Started the pour of Mizzy's gift. I let it set in the cup for a time so it
got less watery, hopefully that will help it not leak out the edges.
Hope it hardens. It was looking pretty good, the heavy weight on it seemed
to keep the stuff where it should be, so I think this crazy plan might be
just so crazy it could work.
Watched a movie.
Played some Bayonetta. Nearing the end? I've found most of the journal
entries (missed one, aarg!) so maybe.
Bunch of calls. As I feared the laptop with the cracked screen also has a
cracked digitizer, which goes for $140. Sigh. I hadn't thought about it when
I had the machine, thinking the pannel was just glued in place because
that's what companies do now. But no, after I got it Friday I was like,
wait, what if... And my fears were realized. As usual. I really should just
say no. Oh, LCD? No. Just no. Forget it. He wants Tuesday.
Dentist guy tomorrow, and he was "with friends" so we couldn't start his
email download, so that's super. Given how long it took to download the
emails the first time, and that was years ago mind you, it's going to take
even longer this time. Why are we doing this again, I hear myself asking. He
was getting away from this stupid organization years ago, and now he's
getting away from it again? What? Why am I doing the same thing I did before
again? If the last time wasn't it, why did we spend all that time on it?
It's going to be another case of me getting home at like 8:00 or later,
isn't it?
Called ellen, she was "out for a walk" (in the dark?) and wanted to call me
back in half an hour. She did not. She later emailed me at 1:22 AM that she
had, in fact, forgotten. No, you think? And why are you up at that time?
Keep the schedule of every other human being on earth, why don't you?
Other questions, no big deal.
Got ready for tomorrow. Last day of August.
Mon:
It hardened! You know, the resin. For the gift. What were you thinking
about? But it's not exactly even. I poured some more red on the top (which
will become the bottom) so hopefully that hardens too. Harden, Metapod!
Anyway, started the day with a Don task, he wanted to be sure something
didn't work, which is silly because that's the default state around here. So
I had an hour of setup to do because it's a machine no one uses, to do this
one two minute test. So that took about an hour and a half. But I got him
the result he wanted so he was happy.
The rest of the day was just minor stuff. Finished a chapter. Closed two
tasks from last week as Kevin is going to add two more for other
readers/machines.
Christina is back and agrees with me that the Versalink feature is still
broken.
She got me the cert I needed to finish the decryption tests, so I did that.
Worked like a champ and I closed those two tasks as well.
And I ran down to the other lab a few times for the celivo people. They're
having more issues so who knows.
Went to see dentist guy, the usual stuff like not knowing any passwords and
asking me how to do weird things. Got out of there a bit after 6:00.
Came back here, talked with him on the phone some more about the email
stuff.
Talked to Ellen.
Laptop guy who is coming tomorrow says his wife's machine won't even turn on
now, so that's double plus good.
Tomorrow I'm coming home early for the gas pipe inspection. I'll finish two
more tasks (I hope) related to card readers so it will be at least somewhat
productive. They've cranked the AC up in there too, why? Shouldn't it be a
constant temperature?
Tues:
Quite busy today, had a meeting about the synchronous processing and learned
it wasn't exactly about synchronous processing. Whoops. It's about the job
starting to print before it's been completely spooled. Nice of them to tell
us. So nice. So I messed with that in the afternoon. I think given we
rewrite all the test cases (such as they are) to what the feature is
actually doing I think it'll pass just fine. Apart from the whole white
toner thing, I mean.
In the morning, to do things out of order, I did more of Kevin's tasks and
got them all squared away. Just more messing with card readers. Couldn't get
equitrac to install on the C70, huge surprise let me tell you, but I found
when I didn't install the "follow you print" app it at least used the server
to let me log in. As that's all he wanted checked anyway I figured fine,
that's good enough. So I did that one, then that one again with another
reader, and then that same reader on two different machines.
Left a bit early in case the gas pipeman got there at 3:00. Spoiler, it's
5:30 and no call, nothing. Super professional. Of course I've thrown out the
paper with the number on it, figuring I didn't need that crap anymore! No
sir! So now I don't even know who to call to reschedule. Well, I'm sure the
state will send me another.
Replaced the LCD, and the guy decided on the $140 digitizer as well. So I
ordered that, of course this was after I changed the LCD so I get
to do the work all over again, just changing a different part. Neat.
It didn't take long, but still. Ah well, he'll come back here so...
Bunch of calls. Oh, right, it's almost 8:00, never a peep from the gas man.
The gasman, if you will. Great.
Helped put a printer to rights, oh, it was right there all along? Great.
Don't know your email password? Call Spectrum.
Booked tomorrow (renew some traveler's card like I did for someone else, ugh
at least it's right down the street from work)
Booked putting the battery in. Next Tuesday, here.
Didn't reach Mitch.
Booked Thursday (go back to dentist guy, yay so fun.)
Yeah, all that in 40 minutes. I'm the best.
Then did some Gears with the others. Finished the game!
Wed:
How did I make almost $400 in the stock market today? Weird.
Had the meeting with the voice people and installed the new version. Then I
installed the new-new version. Pity I still need a new-new-new version. I
can't get into email or fax service. She asks if I want other options and
any answer I give, yes, no, or cancel, she just hangs up. So I at least
wrote them that's happening.
That took the morning, along with a little bit more of the print release
testing. We think we've got it now, we assumed words meant things, but they
meant different things, apparently? Whatever, the whole thing was really
messed up.
After that did a bit of writing and noticed Kevin had put even more silly
card reader tasks in for me. Yay! So I did those. Thanks for putting them
all in at once so I could just bang them out in rapid succession. Oh wait
you didn't do that? My bad. So thanks for nothing.
Got them done, updated the list, and put everything away. Had about an hour
before I left. I used my time wisely by
Went over to see the lady about her renewal. That only took a few minutes so
I went home.
No calls, so I had dinner, checked sites, the usual.
Got in touch with one guy from before, he still had CCleaner so all was
well.
Talked to another lady who is bringing a system here to be wiped and reloaded.
Did the usual stuff for Wednesday, got ready for tomorrow.
Thurs:
I can haz new mouse? But I'll get to that.
The morning was taken up by the first meeting. I wrote some test cases for
an upcoming test, a new build of the clean hands animation for a group that
uses convenience auth. I'll maybe get code for it tomorrow? When a lot of
people are not coming to work, not that they've come to work in many months,
so I don't know how that works.
Got another new build of the voice system, so in the afternoon I messed with
that. It got worse, the old build I could at least do copy, in this build it
does the same thing, the system just kinda freezes up when I say yes or no.
Great. So I didn't do that for long.
Did a little writing, but I think it's going to be a combat pretty soon so
I'll need my battle map.
Had the other meeting of course, and watered the plants. All in all a not
very exciting day.
Went to see dentist guy again, and despite having a 2 hour list just days
ago he had another. How do you lose a TV remote, by the way? It just went on
and on, please, release me let me go.
Finally got back. Checked sites, the usual. Squeaker was looking at the same
place Chill Mouse got stuck in, and I was like, Silly Kitten, there is No
Mouse Ther- what the? There was a mouse! Wedged in there. Managed to extract
the little one and they seem fairly chipper, so I don't think they're hurt.
I hope. They were climbing around a second ago so I'm hopeful. I put them in
the top, they haven't found the hole into the bottom yet. It's fine, the
food and water is on top. *touches nose* That's why I put them up there.
Cross your fingers they survive.
So what's going on in the future? Good question. Work is up in the air for
the day, will I get new stuff? Won't I? Who knows.
After that it's getting groceries, I think I'll still hold off on getting
cat food. I still have plenty, but next week probably for sure.
See my parents, and I still think the plan is a Friday game. Gotta explore
that underground. Oh yeah, forgot the journal entry.
Did the journal entry, it was a short one.
Let's see, Saturday or Sunday I have to wash the deck. Having the car
inspected on Saturday. The first place (Mavis tire) I made the appointment
with left a message they didn't have an inspector I would have to go to the
other place. Uh, okay. I guess I'm going to the other place. It's closer to
me anyway. Weird I had it done there before. I have to remember to take the
stuff out of the back as they actually check the seatbelt locks in back but
the dealer never did.
No game this week so having my parents over?
Otherwise get ready for Labor Day on Monday. Weather app shows rain that day
only, every other day of the week is fine, yeah, but
whenever Monday comes, you can find me cryin' all of the time. So maybe
we'll do that stuff Sunday? We'll have to see.
In any case hope you're all doing well, all your mice live, and you have a
good last days of summer holiday. Three months to go!
