Fri:
We did get something to do. A minor test to make sure we could add a few
lines of text to a text file. Christina took one model, I the other. Test
only took a few minutes, but I had to load the machine. We then have to make
sure this text is added to all future products. We don't actually have the
card so we can't test the actual thing, just that it's there and hope for
the best.
Otherwise, not much exciting. I did the usual of creating test cases and
putting them on the site so it was nice and formalized.
Oh, looked over some old test cases we found from I think it was 2016 for a
test we have to do. Something about a patch that doesn't work anymore but
they want to update so we have to do... something? I think Christina is
going to do that one I didn't like the test cases at all. There was like 60
but there should be closer to 80. Chris condensed a whole table down to one
test, which is poor form in my view.
Otherwise got Heather's gift, did the shopping, got gas, and saw my parents.
Gabe came so I saw him, and we had Jenny out on the swing. Poor, old, Jenny.
Got back here, put stuff away, and did game. I was useful and things went
pretty well. Jon solved a puzzle I hadn't even seen so someone was paying
attention, and we helped the elves.
Sat:
Had a long list of things I wanted to get done over the weekend. Managed to
get a lot of them checked off. Inluding:
Put in my checks for the week, or two week, or maybe three weeks? I haven't
done it lately. There were only four, it wasn't that many.
Did some cleaning as usual as my parents are coming over.
Cleaned a pane of glass I found in the basement, the base of Mizzy's gift.
Took a nap.
Did my paperwork for last month. Still trending downward or equal to last
year. Which somehow doesn't bother me all that much.
Wrapped Heather's gift.
Got the movies separated for tonight. There's a lot of them, getting them
all separated and onto my desktop was a bit of a chore, luckily the "clean
up" command helped.
Rained fairly heavily in the afternoon.
Picked berries, it was still dripping a bit but I have many out there. Still
more to get my parents arrived so they'll have to wait.
Then watched a movie.
Then borderlands.
Sun:
Changed my oil.
Looked through all my papers again, found the map of the property. I was
looking at the house stuff and realized I purchased this house in 2001. That
means I had a 30 year mortgage had I dutifully paid at "their" schedule
until 2031. Think about that number. It's only
2020. I would still have 11 years to go had I done it their way. Don't get
me wrong, I paid a fair amount of it off myself, but it was the money my
grandmother left me that finished the job. Thanks, grandma. My total for the
$91,000 house would have been over $200,000. So basically I saved myself at
least $50,000. I should by a boat or something...
Ordered more oil filters. I had bought 6 and I got the car in 2015 so it's
roughly one a year. Another 6 should do it. By then it should have fallen
apart and I can get an electric car.
Wrote up the latest journal entry for the game.
Sanded while watching some season 3, I just have to apply the polish and I
think Neil's gift will be done. Sean's should be on the way, and I hope
Mizzy's won't be too much of a hassle. Stress free holiday season, here I
come.
Picked berries, froze 3 bags of them so far and I have enough in the fridge
for a pie. (with a few more picked, I'm probably at 4 cups and need 5) I
should make a pie. There are more to get out there, need to just do an
hour's worth of picking if it's not too hot/pouring out tomorrow which it
could be doing either of.
Went to see my sister for her birthday.
Made my calls, just some questions but as I had the battery I ordered for
someone I'll deliver that tomorrow.
Still thinking about this fence deal. The more I think about it, the more
I'm convinced it was deer, not a person, that cut my little plants down. I
mean why would a person just cut some of them? Doesn't make sense, right?
But would a dear eat the whole plant, stems and all? I don't want to jump to
any conclusions here, and inspecting them really yields no clues, it's just
a puzzling situation all around.
Got ready for bed. Oddly this wasn't everything off the list.
There's a craft project I want to work on now that I got some clay, didn't
get to that. It's just using up some resin I poured that was extra, I think
I can turn it into some cute orniments, but I won't need them until November
if I'm going to sell them in the shops. So no rush there.
And the weekend is over.
Mon:
Had a request by Kevin "does this machine really work like this?" because a
customer was (rightly) baffled why scanning to a network location also tried
to scan to email so they have to remove the email address every time they
scan. But yes, that's how they seem to have made it work. If you turn the
email off you have to add it back in every time if you want to "scan to
self" by default. But if you have it on, it appears even in scan to network
folder. Weird. Altalink products don't do this, they have a button to add
self in email and don't put email address in the scan to home app. I looked
at that awhile, nothing new came in over the weekend so it's just more USDA
later I guess?
In the afternoon I worked on the voice stuff a little. A few more notes
written, we're up to 50 pages now. Better get moving on them, developers.
Delivered the battery, took the long way around because I'm a moron. But I
got home a little after 5:00 anyway, so that was fine. Picked another whole
bag of berries, that's 4 bags in the freezer and one in the fridge.
Checked sites, then made my phone calls.
Watched a movie with the others, strange but okay.
Tues:
Got the final build of the scan to home app, with all of one bug fixed that
wasn't even related to the app itself. Well done guys. But I loaded it and
checked it out on two machines, because my job, all that. Otherwise not much
else. Looked into a card and found out it expires in 4 days. I think I can
make more though we have some blanks.
Watched a demo of something we're going to test soon. Of course the tools
aren't done yet so we can't test it in the way they were, so the demo was
somewhat useless. Yeah, great.
Not much else exciting. Came back home, checked sites, then went out at 5:00
to the lady down the street. She gave me incorrect information or at least
misleading information, she does not have 2013 macbook pro she has a 2012
macbook pro. A big difference because one of those has a spinning rust drive
(5400rpm) while the other has an SSD. It was making a clicking noise and I
was like, what the heck? So I opened it up and there it was. So I guess
that's the problem. Took it back here, changed the drive and waited for it
to reload.
Brought it back. No calls today (yet) so I watched the rest of the supergirl
episode I was watching while it reloaded.
Then picked berries, got another full bag of them so that's 5 pies in the
future and one soon. A good showing, no thanks to my neighbors but what was
I worried about?
Wed:
Got another build of the voice system, that fixed, like, three whole things.
Yeah, a long list to be sure. Maybe someday soon they'll make some progress?
It's going to be another month before the case is done though so it's not
like they can get it done any faster. So I spent some time with that, made a
note of the most serious stuff as I saw it, and that was today's excitement.
Came back home, looked into fence people. Called one. My mother had some
good points, like the rocks incident, so a fence would probably still work
back there. Even if it was deer. Hasn't gotten back to me as of yet. My
phone message, while much longer, is far more informative. I tell the person
calling when I'll call them back, my rate, everything they need to know. Ah
well.
Checked sites, ate dinner. Picked berries. Got another 3/4 full container,
so maybe just enough for a bag of berries? If I stretched it a little? But
I'll get more tomorrow so I'll just finish it up then.
Thurs:
If it's not a downpour, which it was. Twice. I started to pick when I got
home, and it really started coming down, so I went back inside. Then later
it had stopped, or so I thought. I went out again and again it started to
rain. Ah well, I got enough.
Hi! Welcome to the blog. Today at the exciting X I... did more of the same
things. There was a minor fix generated for the voice system that made the
enter key work, but broke something else. So I wrote that up. Moved my
little office area around because why wouldn't I do that? Had the usual
Thursday meetings as usual, and watered the plants. Saw a few more people
than normal. JohnV sent a message about how they're looking to go up to 50%
building capacity at some unspecified time in the future. So it'll still be
awhile by the looks. Wonder why? Oh right because everywhere (but the US) is
reporting record cases. Weird.
But don't worry, now records are going right to the white house so you know
there will be full transparency by our Great Leader THE DON. In no way will
THE DON, who believes everything is about him, would manipulate facts in any
way. THE DON is perfect. All hail THE DON.
But back to me, because really everything is about me, not THE DON. No idea
what I'll do tomorrow, but I'm sure it'll be great, just great.
Got home, like I said it was raining, but I had one call. A lady down the
street saying she couldn't send email. I figured I would just call and go
down there, given it's going to be a hectic few days. Turns out she was the
lady with the keyboard problem, because apparently not being able to type is
not being able to send email. Sure, sure, that's logical. So I reminded her
of the solution, to unplug and replug her transmitter for the keyboard. Oh
look, that solved the issue. No need to go anywhere.
Checked sites, got ready for tomorrow, the usual.
And it's usual to speak of the future at this point in the week so let's do
that thing I just wrote. Tomorrow: uh? Getting gas, shopping, and seeing my
parents. Then back here for game.
Saturday, as Neil is in town, I'm going over to Sean's and do some stuff.
Maybe mostly streets of rage 4 four player? Who can say? I'll have to make
Mizzy a cake before I go, I owe her one for her birthday.
Then hopefully a quiet Sunday maybe getting some of last week's list done.
And then we do it all. Over. Again.
I've only seen Oliver have three attacks this month. Weird, and good.
The fence guy hasn't gotten back to me. My phone rang in the meeting so I
answered it. "We've been trying to reach you about your car insurance." Ugh,
really? That's why I hate answering the phone.
So that's the middle of July passed. It's all downhill from here, year wise.
The Althea is blossoming so Summer is over. Make your peace with it. Next
week: Snow.
See you all then.
