Fri:
Got breakfast, brought that in as it was my turn again Have to start the day off right.
Got to work. Did a little more translation stuff, more bug stuff, more thinking about plot. Oh I mean not that last one, it was just work, work, work all day long.
Then the usual of shopping, going to the bank, and petting various kittens. I actually went shopping first because I would pass it anyway I knew, and I always did before it closed anyway so why go there, basically getting off the express way, turning right, then right again, then either right again past all the stoplights or left to get back on the expressway and then off again... You get the idea. I could just get on 104 once, then get off once, then just head to my parent's house. Done.
Saw my father's new toy. Drive it down and do my driveway in the winter, okay?
Over to Sean's after that for killing someone a bit unexpected, the person we were working for who had developed a bit of a split personality from being away from Heaven so long. She didn't even realize the "dark" her was killing her own followers. I almost got one shotted actually. Yipes. But we used cards and survived, so that group rides off into the sunset and Sean's IV game takes the place of it. In a few weeks. He's gone next week, then it'll be my game, then his, so we're looking at 3 weeks from now? It'll almost be Thanksgiving. (I know!)
Sat:
Very busy! First job took way too long, mostly because Spectrum doesn't support FireTV or Fire sticks. Whoops. Who knew? Not this guy. But now I do. You can side-load it, which I did into the smart TV because at least the mouse I needed to use to control it could be used. The sticks ones, not so much. I mean, why? So that job took waaaaay longer than I wanted it to, meaning the rest of the day of screwed up. Why is it always the first job that screws everything up while the rest are easy peasy? The universe just works that way? I don't get it. I did get some giant squash though, which makes up for it?
So I was late to #2, dropping off the power adapter and helping them out with a few more general things. No real issues, I had just been there. See what I mean?
Thus only more slightly late to #3 where I plugged in his speakers, got his dropbox working, answered various minor questions. If these two had been first the day would have gone much better.
Lots of kids running around on the way home by the firehouse. Including the cutest little Ladybug! Yes, that Ladybug, from Miraculous Ladybug.
A quick lunch at home (this was about 2:45 at that point) and off to Sean's where I was about 20 minutes late.
Nearly won Scythe, Stan and I tied but he built more buildings. One freaking coin would have won me the whole game. I wasn't even really maximizing my strategy or anything. Same with the bird game, Wingspan. I was sitting there thinking "I don't need to even care about winning, not really. My winning is having the best time playing this game with my friends." (Oh, Stan and Alyssa were both there, she was a surprise guest I didn't know she would be there) So I tried to maximize that and won anyway. Weird.
We also looked into why her PC was so slow. Turns out because Dell has chosen a crappy laptop drive for the all in one she got. Fairly easy to change though, so call me Alyssa! *Makes hand phone gestures*
Back here for sleeping nap time. What a day.
Sun:
Got up fairly late, did some cleaning. Caught up on my videos from, uh, Thursday. Ate lunch. Answered some email, did the blog for the last two days because I hadn't done that either.
Got a message from the lady I remade the bankbook program for in 2017 (oh my goodness it's been that long?) She was wondering if I would move it to 64 bit. I thought it would be no problem, but opening the project gave me a bunch of errors, and trying to add data to the window results in an error as well. Great! So much for abstracting the code so it would always work across LiveCode updates. I wouldn't even have noticed, thinking everything would be fine, but after I generated the application I was about to send it to her and was like "you know, I'll just quickly open one of my files, make sure there was no problem." Good thing I did! I submitted a bug, what else am I supposed to do? It workes perfectly in version 8 which I redownloaded. It craps out in version 9. That sounds like a bug to me! Of course 64bit is labeled "experimental" in that version, whatever the crap that means. So would it work or not? With all the crashes and now this in v9, I'm not really liking where this project is heading. (Downwards, in case you didn't realize what I meant there.)
Watched some sword art online series 3, as watching season 4 before that wasn't doing me any favors. No Borderlands today, took a little break. Didn't get through all of SoA even at 1.5 speed. Where's the abridgement? *laughs*
Had two calls, one was just a question but the other lady was all "it says the fan isn't working" so I wanted to, you know, order a fan. Before I made the trip over there uselessly? You know? Being smart about it? Oh no, you should come down. Okay, but I'm not actually doing anything until I order the fan so my driving 20 minutes down there, and back, and then down there, and then back is a total waste, no? Why don't you people listen to what I'm saying?
Otherwise the normal Sunday stuff was done like cleaning, (cleaned the mouse) and getting ready for another week. The most spooky week. The last week of October. There's only two more months to go in 2019.
Mon:Had the morning meeting, interrupted by a safe zone alert, but we got through it.
Took on my next assignment. The accounting test cases. One bug written. One amount did not show the same on the receipt as the screen. Odd. That took just about all day but I finished it. Not sure what I'll get into tomorrow, most everything has been done.
There were rumblings by Bob that I was going to be helping my "proper" team next month, but I've heard nothing about this so who knows?
Otherwise not much exciting at work. Oh, I did finally load Linux on that PC that Ken for some bizarre reason just wiped out. At least now I might be able to use it for something.
Went to see about the laptop, yes the fan isn't working. The screen looks really bad, hope that improves? Anyway, brought it back here, so at least the trip wasn't a total waste. It's a G7, same as the one I just put the fan into so it'll mean tearing the whole thing apart. Yay.
Otherwise the normal stuff, watching vids. Ordered the fan. I had a call, supposedly having a printer issue but couldn't get it turned on.
Then another guy... with a printer issue. Honestly I don't know what he was doing but it took a half hour for him to finally unpause the thing and have it start printing again.
More Sword art Online because no Sean at 8:00.
Finished it!
Tues:
Back to being bored at work. Started the most favoritest of all, the alerts. Got through copy, wrote 6 of today's 9 bugs. The others were from the other team, not us guys. Good job, us guys.
Had to changed my scanner unit, good thing it's "easy" to take off and transport down the hall. It just kept giving me errors, so I switched it with another machine we aren't using.
Didn't work on the adventure notes, what are you talking about?
Stopped in to buy game gifts, actually found some cute things. I'm so ahead of myself. But I look at those two months and think, "huh, those are going to go fast and I'm always doing it last minute so now I'm not going to do that." So there.
Fixed a bug in the copyright inserter code.
Checked sites.
Got ready for bed because Borderlands.
Wed:
Had the team lunch and stuffed myself silly so that was the main highlight of the day. Oh right work or something?
Apparently there will be some other work for me? Don wasn't too clear on that so I still have no idea. Whatever, point me to testing and I'll do it.
But what I'm currently doing is checking my resolved bugs and moving on with the scan portion of the alerts test. Adnan took the print portion so having finished scan I'll move on with Fax tomorrow. I wrote two bugs. Eh, not my best work but I was in a carb coma. Hummmm pizza...
No stops after work so I came back here. Checked sites, got ready for tomorrow, the usual.
Thurs:
And the madness continues. Leftover cookies from yesterday? Bob randomly bringing in donuts? Adnan having at least three if not four of them? Does he want to die young? I guess. Oh and some work I guess?
Happy Halloween everyone. A rainy, crappy, icky, Halloween. Adnan was "Thing 1" and Christina wore some bat earrings. We are adults! I did see in the distance a... scarecrow? I think that's what she was. I thought witch, but then, no, can't be. Must be scarecrow. Odd choice. Otherwise that was it.
In work news I finished up the alerts test cases, minus print that someone else is supposed to be doing, and that's about it. Testing over. We're done, right?
No idea what I'll do tomorrow, maybe poke at it some more?
Didn't come up with backstory for my Sean game character. No, just working, working, working.
Oh, and I may be sent (by a very loose definition of "sent") to Boston? Whereby I have to drive myself there and then work 12 hour days to perform two weeks of work in only one week? Not fly? Because reasons? Apparently there's some Staples thing going on that we can't just do here, or maybe remotely because we live in the future and have The Internet now. I don't know, it's all very up in the air and now it's Lewis' problem so maybe he'll go there and not any of us three. Yeah, the other two have "commitments" so they "can't do it." Uh huh, and I don't?
What else?
Work wise I think that covers it. Back here on the home front I got the fan in so I replaced that. Went fairly quickly, given I had essentially just done it. Used the table out in the garage, I asked for a table from Santa, right?
It's working... I guess? The screen cleared up so that's a yay but the fan is like, not steady? I mean it's running, so it's probably fine, it's just add. And super slow. OMG I hate these PCs without SSDs. I'm updating windows now, I finished the cleanout so it should be "good" "soon."
No kidlets yet. Raining pretty hard. Oddly warm though. I remember being out at this time of year and it being really freaking cold. So there. And I found another of those crappy CF bulbs, I'm not totally done with them, arrg! It was outside. Busted too. Huh. Would an LED one fair better? I doubt they're waterproof. Huh. Wonder if there's an outdoor one specifically? I have no light out there.
Got one call, a dead PC and they want a laptop now? But she didn't know exactly what her husband wanted so we decided nothing.
Ugh, this PC is stuck at 12%. Hurry up, would you?
Let's talk about the future. Apocalyptic ruin caused by our own... oh not that far into the future? Got it. You mean next week. Right.
Who knows what I'll do at work tomorrow. I'll then do the usual, shopping and bank and seeing my parents after that.
No Sean this week, sadface. Saturday I hope to do some leaves, perhaps it'll be dry enough? There's enough down to bother with. Otherwise playing some Borderlands is the only other thing I have planned. Cleaning of course, usual stuff.
Oh, it moved to 15%! It's not dead! Go go gadget miniscule gains!
That seems like all the news that fit to print for this week. Man, it's November now, don't forget. Clocks, and that rubbish. There's four weeks to Turkey Day so start fatting up your bird, and get those lists in for the White Day of Presents and Then all the Snow Melts the Next Day. I mean do you want socks? I'll get you socks. I'll do it. Don't think I won't.
See you all next week. Hope the new blog system is working for you, I can't be bothered to check you crazy?
