2019-10-03:
Fri:
Fed everyone over at my parents house and into work at 9:00.
Worked on a new and improved reliability test for staples code because the other one was so boring. A lot of them I skipped because “this is just a regular copy” there was nothing to change. Mine at least tries to change everything in every job. (To be fair so did the original but not every feature or every option was put in.) With some of the features not put into the staples code (like rotate side 2 for copy) when the only change was that, it’s kinda pointless. Didn’t get through all 50 before it was time to leave for the…
Picnic. Had lots of food. Totally destroyed everyone in Boccie and beanbag toss. You know it. (not lying)
Left there at 4:00 as people were drifting away, and I had stuff to do!
Went to the tractor supply place to buy cat food, litter, then went to the bank, shopping, and Sean's. Got there when I said I would, so it all worked out. No dinner, ate well at lunch.
We did my game, and while they got hung up for longer than I expected opening the door, they made it into the place and began their exploration.
Sat:
Got up 8:00 and once again went over to feed everybody. No Gabe since that first time. *sadface*
Late to my 10:00 by 15 minutes, whoops, it was the usual cleanout. How do people get so many extensions in Chrome anyway? I made the folder read only, hopefully that’ll help.
Back home to eat lunch.
No problems at the second one, his internet was working fine, just fine. Silly.
Checked my sites, worked on a new character for an infinite vector game Sean wants to run once we solve the pyre issue. She’s an ESPer killer ESPer, keeping the universe safe from those that would misuse their powers.
Dinner and then waiting for borderlands.
Borderlands!
Sun:
Was up a bit late, but got up and went over to feed. Last time this year.
Cut the lawn, that was about 11:00, didn’t take too long.
Lunch.
Then did the usual Sunday stuff of checking sites, putting comics into the database, figuring out why my Mac wasn’t getting on websites, took a short rest. (Not a nap, it was a legitimate short rest to get some of my… Uh… Spells back. Yeah.)
Baked cornbread muffins. Had dinner.
Many calls, so I called people back. Didn’t reach dentist guy, something about not being able to open attachments again despite his initial complaint not being real. Made an appointment for tomorrow, changing from pop to imap? I just went the other way with someone else! But she’s trying to check email in more that one place and hopefully doesn’t have 3000+ emails to deal with.
Answered questions for someone else.
And went to bed a bit early. All those late nights playing borderlands catch up to you.
Mon:
I got tinker in 2012!
Last day of September. Went to keep working on the new reliability and had the morning meeting.
Finished up the reliability and had lunch.
Then did a 10x test using automation.
Helped move a machine back.
Looked into a bug.
Put my old tablet back, or tried to, with the time set error.
Wanted to start the reliability for us, which is useless because they don't use our apps! So useless.
Left work, went to second work.
Don't ask, it was horrible, I didn't get back until almost 7:30.
A few calls tonight but just questions.
Got the board. Booting a little bit faster? Maybe? Not what I expected I guess.
Hmmmm.
Tues:
Got started, and finished, my 70 part of the reliability test that now suddenly we had to finish today. For reasons. That pretty much took all day, with short breaks to tweak the new character and fix a bug in the program that displays the test. It was showing a blank line at the bottom no matter what I did, I finally fixed it.
Giuseppe is back in the lab, having moved the machine back. All of one type of machine are going to be in one lab, then the other type in the other lab. Sure, make sense.
No job so I came home. Got the video cards finally, so I can finish that Win10 install at some point. The lady from yesterday called, huge shock, and the other lady got her replacement printer. Yay.
Finished the install of the software on the emachine, let's sell it for like $50 and get it out of here.
Played borderlands, still no lag issues on Sean's end with the cable in place.
Wed:
Wrapping up 5.2, good riddance. Verified some bugs, tried to recreate a bug on another machine, then looked into our 5.3 tests for the future. They were kinda messed up? I thought I had gotten them ready better than that. Huh. Anyway, cleaned them out, made sure they were up to date.
Oh, and I put a picture on the wall that Adnan printed, he used "poster mode" and printed the photo some random dude took of us all at the picnic. So it's 4 11x17 sheets wide and 3 deep. I left off the top and bottom row, it was just sky/grass.
New version but I didn't get to loading it. Tomorrow I will. And I'll be back in the other lab I think.
Oh, and I got some old PCs going. He wanted one for a test and I "hacked" the password off it, the other I had to wipe clean because it wasn't properly licensed. Fairly slow, but at least we control it now totally and it's not a "server" anymore.
That was it.
Called video card guy from the car, no answer, so I went home. Forgot to call him last night. Whoops.
As I walked in, he was calling, so I got to go over there anyway. Finally got back again by 6:00 (ugh) and ate dinner. Checked sites, the usual.
Another half an hour with email lady, then looking at someone else's email from the future. No lie. Finally at 8:00 I got ready for bed, Sean didn't know about tonight and borderlands.
Nope, none.
Thurs:
Started testing the latest new old code. Updated my canada tablet and the one I mainly use now. Very annoying, not having the tablet loose so I can just put it in front of me. Ergonomic nightmare? Anyway, had 22 bugs to verify, got though most of them. The first 4 I closed it, then wrote another to replace it because they either hadn't thought it through, didn't implement it to the spec, or just something else crazy happened. Wrote 5 in total, guess how many my labmates (who are not my labmates anymore because I'm back in the other lab) wrote? You got it, none!
Also had the usual meetings, finished up the PC by snapping my fingers and remembering "why am I doing all these updates, I could just put 10 on this thing like I did with the others." It worked, so that's all ready to go again.
Came back here, looked at the laptop the lady gave me. Sadly, the fan is really noisy and I think it has a video card problem. It's an Intel Core 2 duo so on the old end of things. Still, could have gotten a little something for it. I'll probably just recycle it. The fan I could change (after taking the whole darn thing apart of course, thanks for the door there, HP. Oh wait, you didn't put one on there) but the video problem not so much.
Ate dinner, sites, the usual. Got ready for tomorrow, I should be able to pick up the first set of test cases. I made sure they were all ready to go and labeled which we should do and which we should not do.
Outsourcing!
Looking to the future no bank tomorrow but shopping. No parents, but Sean's. I'll go over to drop stuff off and see Onyx of course. Then over to Sean's for Pyre, maybe we'll actually take care of something? One can hope.
Very rainy and nasty today. Cold. Going to be 39 for the low tomorrow. Moved the plants upstairs.
The weekend shouldn't be too busy. Maybe do my paperwork?
That seems to be it for this week. Three months left, and it's going fast. Hope you're doing okay out there, see you all next time.
