Fri:
Got up and did some Thursday stuff I hadn't gotten to. Like doing the dishes and posting the blog, which you read last week.
Checked my sprouts outside, it's hot out! But they are nice and protected under the big bush we cleared out last year. So they’re fine. I found a few more mature plants in the back where they were last year. Come eat them up little monarchs! Checked my sites.
Worked on Neil's gift, making sure all the parts would fit together and then submitting them to shapeways.
It started to rain so hard my yard couldn't absorb the water fast enough. It turned into a swamp briefly, with water just sitting above the ground. Didn't last though.
Had thin walls all over the place which surprised me, I mean, I'm not talking jewelry here, it's a figure. It's really, really tall. At least it was supposed to be. So after hitting the cart to maybe checkout I hovered and said "wait a second… you better double check this…" So I did. It had scaled wrong. I needed it to be 262% larger. AARG. Why U no scale right, shapeways? Increasing it by that didn't even change the cost all that much so the order is in. Please, please, be accepted and printed. Then my Christmas shopping will be 50% done! In July! Yes, I do take it to the extreme but I had no idea how long it was going to take.
Sean's as usual for more spell testing. We were down one Neil, but proceeded apace anyway. Made a new spell to trigger traps from a distance, and so that brought our total spells to… ten?
Sat:
Watched some Supernatural that I got from Sean the day before.
Did the lawn. Figured it could be rainy Sunday and it was fairly cloudy at that point as well so let’s get it done.
Clingy vines are out of control. Pulled out a small mountain of them on the side and in the front. I didn’t do the whole front either, just the right part. Only cut them, didn’t dig them up or anything. So they’ll be back.
Took a look at the garage door, as the night before when I was closing it one of the metal wires just snapped apart. That was scary, by the way. At least I tried to, I had to order one. It has a loop on the end I can’t make, it has to be done at the factory because of the stress placed on that part. Hope it works out, the other end has a bulbous bit the original cable didn’t. I suppose I can always cut that part out… somehow? It’s also a little longer, I don’t know if that makes a difference but it was the closest size I could find.
Went to Sean's. Lost at Grayport, and Inn, but won at looking at fireworks and watching the last Insidious movie.
Bit on the hands in three places by mosquitoes. Yay?
Sun:
Mostly just watching more Supernatural. Still many episodes to go. And they still haven’t digitized their book collection. Silly boys.
Did house stuff, oh, and my designs were accepted? What? Impossible.
Made some changes to the battle runner and the paragon app. Just a minor fix in both.
And got ready for being back to reality tomorrow. The next time I have off is labor day, which I’m sure will come swiftly at this point.
Mon:
My design for the unicorn pendent wasn’t accepted after all? Then why did you say it was, shapeways? Why? Why?
Got to work, waited for the meeting time, and had the meeting time. That went on for some time. I then tried to update my machine over lunch. Predictably, it didn't work. I waited two hours before just rebooting the tablet part and trying again. That time it worked! Yay!
While waiting I didn't make a replacement part for Sean. No, I didn't, I was working. Working working working.
Gina was going to get back to me about anything that needed to be done but never did. So there.
After work I went over to see about one man's persistent questions. Oddly, I can log into the selfcare portion of the spectrum site but not the webmail portion, using the same password. Huh? Guess you get to call spectrum huh?
Then stopped in to the guy down the street to finish his Photos import.
Came back here, checked sites, both calls were hangups, and I watched more Supernatural.
Tues:
Worked on getting the one credit card we haven't been able to test working. Didn't get very far. Not sure what else to do with it. That was the afternoon. In the morning I made sure the one spec that was moved to approved from work in progress was up to date. And even more work. Yes, more and more work was done. Not writing chapter 22, where Kid's dreams are invaded. No. Just working.
More poking it, no bugs in my list of fixed bugs so not sure what use tomorrow's build is going to be. We aren't starting the regression for about a month so it's a bit of a slow time for us. We'll see.
I did write one bug, somehow the names of the other languages got messed up in this build. Go figure.
Came back here, finished up Supernatural, got ready for tomorrow. No calls, put a few phone numbers up on Ellen's website.
Worked on chapter 22. Lysanias died trying to fight three shadows. He wakes up, but man that guy can't catch a break sometimes.
Wed:
Pulling into mid-week we didn't get a new version of software to play with? That's fine, I don't have any fixed bugs to verify anyway. I did some upkeep on a test case as a new spec version was approved. Oh, and we got the visual document for it as well so I added a few test cases now that I knew what it looked like.
We did get the credit card working, there was a setting that can't be used elsewhere and the other team had it. I stole it from them, checked the card, and gave it back. Silly thing.
Also talked with Gina about some really old bugs, we went through them. Stayed late to do it, so I'm leaving early tomorrow or Friday, you better believe it.
The rest of the time was spent, uh, working, on other things. Just working.
Got home, did the usual video watching and site checking, got ready for tomorrow, the usual.
Worked on chapter 22, finishing it up as I didn't get to proofread it earlier. Book 7 is up to 78,721 words. Nice.
Thurs:
Personally, at work they're really reaching for stuff for us to do. After our meeting Gina was like, "go and run the portal test cases." No, not *those* portal test cases, she wants me alive afterwords. But Giuseppe ran them recently. Whatever.
Then I remembered, oh, right, Giuseppe ran them. Maybe it's better if I…
*immediately writes several bugs, one documentation bug, and several new feature requests.**
Yeaaaaaaah.
So there's more of that tomorrow. I didn't get through them all. You know, with all the bug writing. Nach.
And another meeting of course.
Came back here, did the usual stuff, nothing too crazy. Talked to york, now their other printer isn't working. The IP address changed, but changing it to what the PC thought it was didn't make it start printing. There was one old job in the queue she couldn't get rid of because it was another user. Sigh.
Well, hopefully when they remove it and reprint it'll try sending it again and be fine.
Otherwise not much else exciting. Wrapped my sister's gifts.
Future Time:
Tomorrow I'll do more of the portal test cases and leave an hour early, so there's that. Get some new shoes, these are pretty far gone but my lawn mowing pair just separated totally so these are becoming the lawn mowing pair. There's a system to the madness, I swear.
Then over for my sister's birthday party.
No Sean or movie night with my father this week, both are going to be gone.
Over the weekend I'll fix my garage door, (hopefully), cut the back lawn, and replant some berry bushes that are not where I want them. Oh, my sprouts are doing okay in the back, they have more leaves now. Keep growing, my pretties! I'll resubmit Mizzy's gift model to Shapeways and put in Sean's replacement part, they haven't emailed about the Neil parts so hopefully they really have accepted them! Oh, and the rest of the clingy vines from the front, do some more weeding in the berry bushes. That sort of stuff.
So that's about it. Next monday July is half over already. At least Summer- oh wait, I have berries! Not many, but I'll pick some over the weekend for sure. Not enough for a pie but it'll be a start. I have some nice looking stalks for next year too.
As I was saying, at least summer is finally here, it's fairly warm.
See you next week everyone.
