2019-06-28:
Biggest accomplishment at work was… eating two donuts? I didn't really want the second one, but Adnan brought one for Chris who had already left. So I got it.
Otherwise quite boring, no bugs written by anyone.
Went shopping, saw my parents, and left for Sean's.
Turned into a dragon figuring I would exercise my hand to hand skills rather than hanging back, got shot at with laser guns. Good thing I was huge, would have almost killed me otherwise. Have no idea how I'm going to heal myself, but that's for tomorrow. It was actually a very interesting session for some reason. Odd.
Sat:
Got up and worked on the gift a little. Made the gems, don't know if I'm going to try making them transparent or not.
Did another pour, the one backing I have is really not flat at all, it wouldn't glue very well. So I'll try and get a better one.
Watched a few youtube things, made a call, no answer, called York. Printer issue, I had him run thought some things, including checking the hub I'm pretty sure I told him was right near the printer. He swore up and down it had lights on it.
This was a lie.
When I went out there, his power strip was turned off. So no power to hub = no printer. Simple.
Moron.
Moved his cords around so hopefully that doesn't happen again, and put the hub over next to the printer.
Came back as Sean said 2:00 rather than 1:00 otherwise I would have just gone there directly. Finished my videos, checked my Sat. Sites.
Then went over there. Had yummy food and we went through more spells, as was the plan.
We planned it. It was the plan.
Sun:
Got up and it was sunny and nice so I did the back yard.
Then cleaned off the rocks so I have a nice, clean, bucket 'o small stones. Yay.
[[image file="2019-06/rocks_1.jpg" alt="we will rock you" ]]
Checked sites, watched videos.
Watched Ink, a movie I actually have on DVD! I know, weird right?
Cleaned a bit, the upstairs floor was filthy.
Looked into repairing my Dark Tower game. No need! There's an iPad app for it. Because of course there is. But I'm glad there is. Maybe the next game night we have I'll bring that. Take that, Gloomhaven.
Worked on the gift, the last two haven't really "hardened" I wonder what I did wrong? Not enough time? I did exactly the same thing as I did last time too. Warmed it and everything. But I sanded down the one from before and it will work just fine. Made the centers, at least if trying to make a clear center doesn't work out. They're so small, I wonder if it'll harden or be not enough material?
Watched Don Machi, all this dungeon stuff made me want to.
Mon:
You know all that trouble I went though printing a part of Sean's gift and making molds of it and all that? Well, today shapeways announced a new transparent plastic. Thanks guys. Thanks a lot.
Minimum $30 per part. Never mind.
Anyway, happy Monday. Some excitement today in the afternoon because I talked to a guy from Foster Wagner who I guess is the company that actually interacts with the company we get our tablets from. It all seems very confusing, but anyway they were claiming upgrading to the new R17 left whatever they had before there. So he wanted to make sure he knew the procedure. And for us to prove it did what we said it did. It did, by the way.
Otherwise, there was a meeting in the morning, but no Gina only Bob because she's out. He was a bit late, and there's not much for us to do at the current time.
But I did work. Work, work, work, that's me. A hard working follow.
Got gas, then came home. Checked sites, the usual stuff. Proofread 19 so I can get on with 20 and put it into the main book. Got a few calls. Helped them over the phone, it was pretty minor stuff.
Worked on chapter 20. Thought it would be just me beating up shadows, but wait, it can be more interesting than than, can't it? It did! Nynaeve just died. For real though. Whoops.
Tues:
Most of today was broken into two parts. The first, in the morning, was putting in the new test cases for specs that had been updated since I got them ready for the next round of testing. Of course, the biggest one I finished, and Giuseppe was working on it too. Double the work for the win.
Then had lunch and started the second activity. Going through the screens and making sure there was an entry in the timers tests for them. So fun. But it had to be done. Dun dun done.
Stayed late, doing what I have no idea. Working on something or other, I guess? Now I can come to work an hour later Thursday, when I do the first kitty cats feeding over at my parent’s house. I figure I can stay an hour later Friday? Yeah, I can still get to Sean’s by 7:00 if I leave here at 5:00. It’s an hour and a half to get food and eat something for dinner. No problem. Heck, might go to subway I haven’t done that in forever.
Came back here, one call, she wants Thursday at 6:00 so maybe I'll stay late tomorrow and leave at the normal time Friday. Seems fine as well.
Checked my sites, today's videos, and finished chapter 20. Started a little of chapter 21. Nynaeve was fine, by the way. Time travel for the win.
Worked on Neil's model. Got his legs done, and his lower arms. Need to do the shoulders, some stuff to the body, and of course he doesn't have a head yet. He needs to get ahead. Get it? But I've said too much. It really looks like it's coming along though, I'm fairly happy with it.
Wow, modeling, writing, read some Spitfire, see what I can accomplish when I'm not running around creation for hours solving problems people made for themselves?
Wed:
Some sad news to share today. Mystery mouse was found dead this morning. Sorry little one. You lived a good long time, hope you were happy with me.
Got the new build at work, Bob wanted Adnan and I to do half the reliability test so we each did half. Oh, and I had one bug that I reopened. Hard at work, that's our developers.
Did a little more spec looking at, and certainly no work on chapter 22.
Stopped to get cat food and more litter, saved 10% on the order with coupon and another 5% on the cat food. Nice.
Stopped at my parent's house though they had only been gone today. Saw Gabe! Everything was fine there, came home. Checked sites, one call, so I have saturday at 1:00 booked. Says her machine hangs up right away. We'll see, lady, we'll see.
Looked at wood, seeing if I had something big enough for the cabinet program.
Looked for stuff to throw away, and got ready for tomorrow. Had to bring everything in from the car, that sort of thing.
Warm out. Finally some nice weather?
Thurs:
Most exciting thing today was… three meeting? That can't be right.
Went over to feed everybody and Gabe was in his little bed, all on his own. Nice. Everybody was fine over there, filled the feeders, petted everyone, the usual.
Then went to work. Had a meeting at 9:00 so I like walked in the door, and a wild meeting appeared. Sigh. We're all uptight about how many bugs there are. Uh, yeah, you think? Maybe because we did everything in the most complex way possible instead of the simplest at the start, totally shooting ourselves in the foot. Nah, can't be that.
Did some testing, mostly timers, boring. But gave me plenty of time to come up with what the orbs do. I'll say no more.
Then more meetings, two right after the other. *shakes head*
Went back my parent's house to see if a watch had come in the mail. It had. Got the wood cut for the under cabinet can opener project. It's been 6 months, obviously my father is not going to mount the thing so I'm taking matters into my own hands. Painted it, looked for screws. One thing you can say about my parents, they've got a lot of stuff… all over. So whatever you need? Power tools? Paint? Eighteen drills? They've got it.
So that should go up Sat/Sun if all goes well.
AND IT WILL.
So I came back, at a quick dinner, and went out again. Some minor stuff, and what she wanted moved was a folder of 200mb of pictures. No big deal. I then went to her neighbor's house and turned off her second Wi-Fi, reset her router so she would know the password, and made sure she could get on the network. Done.
Back here I checked sites, got ready for tomorrow, the usual.
So, future time: Tomorrow is feeding everybody then heading to work where I can do more timing tests and doing more of the reliability because you can never have enough. Apparently the offshore team sort of randomly did some? But not all? And so we have to finish it? Ugh. Also a lunch of some kind, "self funded." Cracks me up. Xerox made 2.2 BILLION dollars last quarter alone, they can't afford to buy their contractors lunch a few times a year?
Anyway, then shopping, no bank I only have four checks, drop my stuff off and head to Sean's. Still 7:00 though, I'm not the limiting factor.
Then Saturday more feeding the guys, some woodshop stuff, and then at 1:00 a job. No calls today so unless I get something tomorrow and call them right then, that should be it.
Then Sunday one more trip out there, finish the project if I hadn't Saturday, and that's the week. Maybe some writing or more working on Neil's gift over the weekend? 3 day week next week, but that will be detailed in my next posting.
See you all then.
