2019-05-10:
Fri:
Still busy at work, finished up the test case creation and putting the new cover sheets on.
That took about the whole morning. Made some modifications to my script to run individual tests and make sure all events were captured. off -> off = no event.
Then in the afternoon worked on a little program to help me look up strings but it's not really going to work out. At least the way I wanted, it'll still be useful.
Went to the store, saw my parents and a Gabe, then went to Sean's.
Only got through one more room, but tested, uh, about 10 more spells. Sheesh. That's slow going.
Mizzy's flight is rather delayed and it was super foggy on the way back.
Sat:
Got up, checked my videos from yesterday+today.
Had a great idea for chapter 14 so I guess it wasn't finished, went back and made a few changes, I think it works really well and expands the lore of the shadows a little.
Made the Mac and Cheese for later, cleaned up a bit.
Went out to the party. Sean went pretty far down the unicorn hole… wait, that sounded wrong.
Anyway, hopefully Mizzy had a good time. I did get complements on my mac and cheese, so my contribution was accepted. Yay!
Sun:
My biggest contribution to today was, uh, not to put too fine a point on it; taking a nap.
Anyway, got up early because someone was having an asthma attack right next to me. That's the third in three days. Glad I bought that expensive steroid to help him manage the condition.
Checked my sites, made a bit of a list of what had happened in book 7 so far and tracked down the number of hours he's practiced each skill, or at least what rating he stole which equates to that number of hours. Put the stuff away that I brought to the party, had leftovers.
Took the aforementioned nap.
Watched some movies, did a bit of reading.
Yeah, super boring, sorry.
Mon:
What's this, another attack? That's four in the last four days. Sheesh. What, is it pollen or something he's allergic to?
Anyway, had the morning meeting after doing more of the translation effort stuff.
Then more of that, then going over the tablet procedures with everyone because we're losing John.
I finished up the little program I was trying to make to put all the separate files together because why have one big file when you can have all sorts of little files all over? I know, right? Anyway, finally made that work and made the big files. Looked through them a bit, emailed Gina about a few things I noticed. Wrote one bug. Then went to get the tablets he had stacked up from 1/3 of the way through to 2/3 of the way through.
Stayed late for that, we're going out Friday for another lunch with John, and then he's gone.
Came back here, checked sites, ate dinner, talked to a guy about plugging in a monitor.
Then did more reading. I should write the next chapter, I know exactly how it starts, I just have to put it down on well I can't say paper but you know what I mean. Ah well, maybe tomorrow.
Tues:
More training with the big guy, CWW this time. He was having some difficulty installing it because of the many, many things it needs to run. Software complexity is tight!
What else did I do? Ran another machine worth of audit log testing, finally finished up my tour of the translated files, did still find some English.
Stayed another hour late, though I had finished the audit log stuff at my normal going home time, so I had to entertain myself for another hour. It worked out.
Came home, checked sites, looks like we're on for Friday with more monster mash, no parents this week. Finished the first Dresden book.
Going over to see book guy tomorrow, then Tinker goes to the vet Thursday so that's all the extra time I can put in. Well, at least I can leave a little early Friday.
Wed:
Pretty much what I thought at work, didn't get as much done as I wanted though. Started with checking the log from last night to see what the printer recorded and why our machines are locking us out before we reboot them.
Then loaded the new tablet software and went to the demo.
That done I started looking into my resolved bugs. Mostly translation stuff, and I wrote a new one, but there's some oddness. Like we have one string, right, and the translation team said it should be replaced with another string. All well and good. But we've implemented yet another string instead of that one. Wha?
Did more training with John, going over what to do with the tablets that need to be power supply tested. Oh, and did I mention no hire to replace him, and that the tablet refurb work will carry on, by us, despite all the testing that still must be done? Did I? We're a test team, we shouldn't be doing anything like this in the first place!
Went out to see book guy, another laugh and a half. He's somehow just thrown away one of his documents, some story about his life or something. He had a printed copy so I can at least (maybe) get a decent OCR going. And I might have, had his internet not sucked. So frustrating to have an internet connection measured in Kb/s when not 5 miles away I can get MB/s. I thought I might be able to get some kind of OCR from the main CD for the machine. *NOPE* giggle. It's just a link to the website. LOL. Very funny, Brother, very funny. I can't download 300mb over a connection worse than dial-up.
I'll try scanning it at work with our software and make a "searchable" PDF that should let me copy and paste the text out. Seriously. Of course it was what you expect. "Oh, it wasn't me." "I didn't do this."
Uh huh.
Back here I checked my sites, ate dinner, read a little bit, and worked on chapter 15.
Finished it but need to proofread it.
Thurs:
I was so busy today I didn't get anything done!
Wait, what?
Got a notice of more training to be done before the usual 9:30 meeting at 8:30 so I barely had time to boot my PC and check my email for the morning.
We went over the various CWW servers we have now, and how they differ, and what we can use them for. Naturally this took through the 9:30 meeting time (which we sort of squeezed in while waiting for CWW to do something) and to, uh, lunch time.
After lunch I checked my emails, did a few minor things and went back there to look at the procedure for the USDA tablets we'll need to do something with very shortly. That took just about the rest of the afternoon.
Oh, I did scan in the document so I have at least a partially editable text document now.
So I need to finish my resolved bugs and look over the specs that were changed. Hopefully I can at least do that tomorrow, the bugs can wait. I mean we were supposed to start the next full pass yesterday, but I don't think much has really been done in that area. Wonder why?
Oh, that's right, because I'm not doing 3/4 of the testing that needs to be done! Right, right... *nods head*
Then I left a few minutes early and just got back here and then to the vet at the time I was supposed to. Whew. He was a little brat, actually, and whacked the vet on the face when she was checking his stomach. Bad Tinker! They took him back to draw blood and he didn't sound very cooperative.
We got back here and I did the usual at this point.
I did finish up book guy's thing. He missed a lot of stuff I caught, and I wasn't reading it all that seriously. I also squished the number of pages because he can't format his way out of a paper bag. So that's done and I emailed it to him. Will he be able to get it out of email and onto his Mac? Oh, I doubt it!
Some changes: No Sean tomorrow as he's going to a wedding rehearsal and doesn't know when he'll be back.
No chainsaw party this weekend it's still rainy, in fact it's raining now. I hope Spectra is okay, with all this cold, nasty weather we've been having.
And no Clarence on Sunday meaning no yummy cheese? Mom suggested the museum instead which sounds good to me. So I can give her the gift then rather than leave it tomorrow. Good.
So tomorrow hopefully getting a few things done, then the goodbye lunch for John, and as I've put in two extra hours probably leaving work *quite* early. Shopping, dropping stuff off at my parent's house, and coming back here. What will I do with myself then? It's a mystery.
So, the first week of May passes into memory, hope it has some good ones for ya. See you next time!
