2019-04-25:
Fri:
As expected at work, not many people around.
I did write up the two bugs from the VBS and found one other one while doing that, so wrote that up as well.
Certainly didn't work on the aftermath of the battle I have yet to write. I knew what I wanted to happen so it was fine.
As John was gone I sat in for him in the QRB meeting to talk about certain bugs. As usual it went very fast and we didn't run overtime at all. HA just kidding. It's a 10:00-11:00 and I went for lunch at 12:30. Sheesh, learn to stick to a schedule lady!
The most exciting thing was breaking everything. We got and so I loaded the new printer firmware. The first time it didn't quite take, so I loaded it again. This time whoops I can't copy, I can't scan, I can't fax. It either just hangs or gives an error message. Why it would do one of the two I can't say, shouldn't it be consistent? Eh, that's crazy talk I guess.
So I wrote an email to the team about the findings and went home.
Sat:
Did a few things today, didn't bother cleaning as my parents weren't coming over. I mean that's the only reason you would do something like that, right?
I'm kidding. I made a pie, I cleaned up, I checked my sites, watched my videos.
Finished up most of chapter 12. I need to do a little tie up at the end, and proof it, but the "combat" part in the middle was done. Having three Lysanias and Kid's strength at a 40+ really helps combats go quickly.
Ate dinner. Played some warcraft. Ate pie, so good!
Watched a movie, worked more on Chapter 12, think I finished it, it's a long un!
Sun:
Easter, happy easter everyone.
Checked my sites, did my paperwork from last month finally, and went over to my parent's house.
Had a nice easter dinner, rendered my opinion on such topics as the politics of the day, the philosophies of Plato and how they are relevant to current life, and regaled them all with tales of my adventures in the computer business both past and present.
OR DID I?
Came back, digested, got ready for tomorrow, and hey, I should get a build of the AT&T software so I'll have something worthwhile to do. That and resetting my machine back to the older version of software so it does stuff again. Neat.
Mon:
We got the software, so while I was told it probably wasn't finished, to my surprise my testing showed it was pretty much all there. In fact I really have no complaints about what I saw, though I did write down some questions for later. Then started the automated test using SNMP and needed something else to do. Went across the hall to check on the USB port tests everyone was so hot on, but then came to learn we have lots of time to test it, not just this week. So why so antsy?
Anyway, needing something to do I put together the test cases for it, staying late because I realized that hey, if I stay late 2 days this week I don't have to get up early because I could just arrive an hour late and still have the same number of hours in.
The universe can't have that, obviously. Because when I got home today I had three calls. Yeah, nothing for an entire week last week, then suddenly three calls today. Why?
Anyway, one was a hangup and one wanted Thursday. The Thursday one is a printer install, honestly did you even try? Did you? Somehow I don't think you did.
So a cleanout tomorrow and maybe I can stay late Wednesday? We'll see.
Ate dinner (more pie) and checked my sites.
Played up to the last stage and then a little of the last stage in Warcraft III. Going to have to be faster, the bad guys broke through.
Tues:
Day went very quickly, I was quite busy.
Having gotten the test plan done yesterday and had Chris make up the directions for the card stuff I got busy doing one model, he another.
I also did another model of the test for audit log, and did the complete SNMP test. It's nice that it's automated but getting the results is a little tedious. Ah well. Thanks, past me, for putting that script together.
Only minor issues found in both tests, so that's good.
Went out to see the cleanout guy. Yay, an ancient system running a spinning rust drive and mcafee. He only knew the pin not the password so I couldn't boot in safe mode. Thanks.
And why do we need passwords and pins, MS? Couldn't he just make his password some digits?
Anyway, cleaned it out, it was painful, but thank goodness there's no traffic is this area for the way home! OH wait, there is? *gasp*
Got back here finally, checked sites, ate dinner, did not eat pie because I somehow had all kinds of yummy treats at work including some really delicious carrot cake. How did they do that?
I'll tackle the last stage again, after I get ready for tomorrow.
No calls, so I'll probably stay late. Excellent!
Wed:
Another day I stayed very busy, starting with the hour I had before the first meeting of the day, the latest demo. I got a bunch of the testing done for another model relating to the USB feature, no problems found. Didn't quite finish it before the meeting, but did after the meeting.
Then loaded the new tablet software, then had another meeting. This was just to go over my test cases for the audit log, which I used mainly as a place to get some questions answered because my test cases are fine.
Got to eat lunch at the normal time because I know how to keep an hour meeting to a half hour (you don't dick around) and then started looking at my bugs.
Got most of them done, not all there are some that require some lengthy setup.
And I met with Bob (Hi Bob!) to go over one of the test cases we run, he just had some questions which I answered to the best of my ability. I did! Then I got back to work again.
Stayed an hour later typing in the new root password which is longer than the previous one and just such a joy to type in over and over (and over) I can't even tell you. Seriously though, it's annoying. Put the real password in at the END fellows, not the start. The END.
The. End.
But wait there's more.
Went over to my parent's house to make sure it was still standing and such, they've been gone like a whole 8 hours it's important.
Came back here, no calls, so ate dinner and checked my sites as usual.
Whew.
Now going to put Susan into the newer paragon app I like better.
Been thinking about how to beat Warcraft 3. I mean I could easily win the stage, I want to do it without losing the human settlement. It's not going to be easy. I have a new idea as my last ideas didn't work last night. We'll see if I get a chance to enact it.
It worked, but only to a point. See, I wanted to make moon wells, lots and lots of moon wells. Two or even three deep. Then I could attack from relative safety while the enemy chewed through that. Sadly, while I lasted longer, a half hour, the human town was still overrun. Maybe baristas not archers? They have more range but fire slower. I don't know. Shoot, I really thought that would work so I'm out of ideas now.
Huh, maybe a modification of the technique, make them 3 deep but only 2 wide, not 5 or 6 wide I forget how many it took. That will create a bottleneck and funnel them where I want them. Could work? Also maybe huntresses and centaurs, not archers. They can hit more than one thing at once, that's key in a mob battle like this.
Thurs:
Don't know where all this "doing stuff" came from but it has made the week go by swiftly.
Oh, and we may lose John to a nursing position elsewhere. He's interviewing Monday afternoon. Hope they get someone else to do tablets, I don't want to do it! Ugh, does that mean I have to attend that QRB meeting? Great, more wasted time.
Anyway, back to me. Got in an hour late as expected, signed out and got a machine ready for later testing, and went to the meeting. Had a cookie.
Finished up the bugs I needed to verify, that went fine.
Did a test for AT&T, I think they think they can get away with not doing the initial setup on the machines. HA HA. No, you have to stand there and press the buttons sillies the machine doesn't respond any other way.
After that test I did another round of the audit log testing, which again went fine but did generate one more question as I noticed it had the Wi-Fi adapter already and didn't respond doing something with that connection as the wired did.
With that done I started the automated test and went to set up a printer. As expected she didn't even try, but that was fine.
Back here I did the usual, sites, videos, and eating dinner. We are doing some kind of mage fest tomorrow at Sean's so there's that.
I'll probably enact my Warcraft plan later but for now, finish this.
Looking to the future I'll check my parent's animals tomorrow as usual so I'll be a bit late to work. May get the translation work tomorrow otherwise another DoD test or two.
Oh, we have a webcast by the CEO as well, so I'll be tuning in to that.
Then shopping as normal. No bank, I only have 4 checks it's not enough to bother with. Maybe next week.
Then Sean's, he says 6:45 so I'll get to eat here I guess.
Then Saturday and Sunday maybe more writing if I can figure out more plot. Need something else for him to do while training. I could just time skip I guess?
Looks like rainy and snowy? for the next few days so no outside stuff, that's for sure.
Anyway, it's the end of April hope it treated you well. Keep on moving, we're all in this together.
See you next week.
