Fri:
Pretty standard day, with one surprise in store.
Got the first pass of the 10x done. Naturally I spent an hour looking into automation tools given the same thing has to be done over and over (and over) for this test. Nothing exists that will do what I want. Either you have to have it connected over USB (impossible) or run an app on the android side. (not ideal)
I just want to trick the machine into thinking my PC mouse is a bluetooth mouse so the PC can record a macro of the mouse moving and clicking and play it back a zillion times while I watch. Is that so much to ask?
Apparently, yes.
Couldn't do writing, it's slow but not slow enough to keep switching gears. So it was a pretty boring day.
Went to my parent's house first, and they were there! Whoops. So I left again. Picked up the hanging system and did the shopping, then went back for tales of Ohio. (And yummy food thanks Heather!)
Came back here, plugged up the PC and maybe figured out it's the power supply? It's been running the long HD test since then and it's 9:00 now (90%) and before it was hanging just on boot so yay?
Called CD drive guy, I'm going basically that way tomorrow so let's get that done too. So two in the morning and then getting ready for Dad to come over.
Checked my sites, watched videos, put the label on the box with the wrong PC to go back because he finally got back to me about it. Good times.
Watched some stuff until dad arrived, then had dinner.
Played though magic sword, need to change the controls because the vertical buttons just aren't cutting it. They need to be horizontal.
Then watched Thor.
Then went back to watching stuff! Yay!
Sun:
More watching stuff!
But it wasn't all watching stuff. No. I cut the lawn, the front anyway, and watered stuff. Very nice out. Will this trend continue? Eh, no?
Made phone calls, tightened down the power supply which does seem to be the PC's problem, it's been running fine since.
Did the usual getting ready for tomorrow stuff, looking forward to doing that second half of the 10x!!!!!! (Lying!)
MON:
So looked forward to it. And now she wants me to do another whole set on another machine. It's pointless, so pointless.
Anyway, that was the beginning fun of the day.
The middle fun of the day was putting the SSD into the machine. I noticed it was still fairly slow and realized it was a single processor machine. Ugh, seriously? They still make those?
His Wi-fi was terrible also, spent some time trying to get that to work. Gave up, plugged it in.
Then dropped off the system to the lady and got home at 7:30.
One call, so I have Thursday booked and that's the week. Yay.
Checked my sites, finished Thor Ragnarok and it's time for bed. Ugh.
Tues:
Have sort of a question, actually. Why did the government send me $262.05? There was just a check in an envelope with no explanation. Very strange.
Spent most of the day writing half of the 10 bugs that were entered. I didn't start the new 10x because it's useless, and I figured finding bugs was a better use of my time. Given I had found one while looking at some new fixed bugs that had been mysteriously entered after the new release came out. I just kept rolling with it and finding more stuff.
Oh, and I verified some bugs.
In the afternoon I got a crash course in what the next test was going to be about, a new card added to our existing smart card reader database. Why don't all cards just universally work, I hear you ask? I HAVE NO FREAKING CLUE.
But that's what I'll be working on next. When not doing useless tablet testing.
Went over to see about the hanging machine, figured I would wipe the thing and start over. That didn't go well, it hung trying to do the install. So I went back to window 8 and it installed and ran perfectly. Go figure. Downloaded the usual stuff, left it doing 158 updates.
Checked my sites at home, ate dinner, and got ready for tomorrow.
Lost my green flash drive somewhere, sort of angry about that. I'm so careful with them, what could have happened to it?
Wed:
Got my first taste of the new project today. Chris sent me the "older" version of the test cases, and I looked them over. "Only 23? That's nothing." Sadly, they were very compact. There's two different cards and at least 3 readers to test. So that turned the first one into 6. Whoops. It kept going like that from there.
Still, I did what I could, and wrote down many questions and concerns and possibly new test cases in the afternoon. We didn't get new software so I couldn't do any bugs, but I did the usual poking around.
Back here I took off immediately to bring Tinker to get his staples out, and they didn't even charge me! Thanks. Didn't take long, the techs don't make you wait twenty minutes they were right there.
Then came back here. Did the usual stuff, sites and whatnot. Finished the movie, not as good as the last Thor one but eh, it was still pretty good.
Thurs:
Not much tablet stuff today. I did update to the latest version, had a demo of the new stuff that's coming and the usual Thursday meeting but then did card reader stuff. What I found yesterday did warrant a bug, so Chris wrote that up. There are a few other mysteries, but it doesn't seem like it's too much to handle. I'll be redoing the test cases, put them more in line with what I'm used to. Chris is fine with it.
So nice to do something other than AT&T or tablet stuff after so long.
Went to see solar guy, took care of most of his stuff. Picasa isn't cooperating when sending pictures anymore, either through thunderbird, live mail, or google itself. Odd. But it hasn't been updated for some time so I can't blame it.
No calls, I must have been really good this week.
Back here I did the usual, watched a few more episodes of Agents of Shield and now it's time for bed.
OH, found out what the check was all about. We figured something wrong I guess? Anyway, they say I overpaid, even gave me $1.90 interest. (Don't forgot to claim it as income, the letter says.) Also strange the letter explaining the check says to expect it within 4-6 weeks, but it came after the check itself.
Looking to the future, more card reader stuff tomorrow when more of it is set up to test, seeing my parents before they leave again, and of course bank. Buying stuff for the macaroni salad. I can finally use that gift card!
Nothing for Saturday but Sean's as it hasn't been called off yet. I should probably make sure it's still on before I start making stuff. Ah well.
Looks like more rain, well, my lawn needs it my grass is very sparse the tiny blades haven't been growing much.
One more week of June, can you believe it? Oh, and welcome to Summer if you missed it, it's here. Winter starts in about two weeks. I can already hear the temperature dropping.
See you next week.
