2018-06-07:

Fri:
Those guys need to get their act together.

Just in the time I was there waiting I heard that one appointment had been scheduled wrong, for 9:30 and not 8:00. She had a school thing at 10:00 so they would not have chosen 9:30. And there was another girl that was an hour away and had to come back tomorrow though she wasn't told that until just now. She had prom today so she couldn't do later that afternoon either.

Then there was me. Remember my last appointment, where they talked about retainer options and I said give me the $400 plastic ones, whatever it's only money. Remember that? I do. They didn't. Order them, I mean. So now I have to go back next week (if they come in) and get them. They'll just basically hand them to me so I'll only be a half hour late to work but still. It's annoying.

Got the points filed off though, more x-rays, pictures taken, and out the door. Got to work by 9:00 and started right into it.

It of course being finishing up the scan to google service and moving on to another service. I did not write chapter 13, no, that would be wrong and I would never do that.

Once leaving work I did the shopping, saw my parents and came back here.

The usual stuff, checking my sites, only one call and she wasn't at home so we couldn't really do anything. Super, so just one for tomorrow.

Fast forwarded though shadowhunters, I wanted to get a sense of major events so I keep things that happened outside the main characters consistent, like when the attack on the silent brothers happened.

It doesn't! That doesn't happen in season 1 at all. I got some good plot points I want to work in though, so it was worth doing.

Sat:
Did a bit of writing and watching more shadowhunters.

Then left for the appointment. Really crappy P4 XP machine, in this day and age. I guess it's not unexpected, I did just get rid of Ellen's, which was the same model. Half a gig of RAM, it's crap. How do you put up with it?

Got to Sean's a little late, but Stan wasn't there yet. We wound out playing board games, and Mizzy won Splendor and Blood Rage. Sean actually came in last though we had though he was doing well, and I tied for second in a huge comeback. Ah well. Did some dragon ball z fighting game, I got him Rosalina in Mario, and we did some Yoshi's Woolly World

Sun:
Got several things done today that I wanted to. The main one of course- pie. The last pie from last year's berries. So good.

Used my new mop, did the floors and finished cleaning up the basement for the big install tomorrow.

Cut the front lawn, did that in the morning which was a good thing, as it rained in the afternoon. Supposed to rain the next few days too, which I suppose is good for the grass.

Found more berries I could move on the side. Didn't get to it though.

Got the PC ready, as I've sold it already. Dropping it off tomorrow.

Watched some anime Sean gave me, and got ready for tomorrow.

Mon:
So I got my greenlight installed! I'm currently getting…

uh…

~400kb/s on the "torrent" I'm downloading. Wait, what?

I'm actually uploading faster than I'm downloading? That can't be right. How can I be getting a slower speed? The speedtest shows VPN off 123Mb/s while VPN on 71.3Mb/s so I take a dramatic hit on speed with it on. But still, RR got me better than that. Huh. They can't shape the traffic, it's encrypted, they have no idea what it is. Ah, it's up to ~750 as I watch now, which is still pathetic. I guess I'll try "something" like a libreoffice torrent when this one is done. Still… strange. I've uploaded 18GB but hardly downloaded… wait. These things are massive! I didn't even realize. Sheesh.

18GB for one file? Cripes, that's too much. Well, it's like 95% done so…

Took only about 45 minutes to get installed. Tiny box, much smaller than the cable modem box I had. Does it use less power? Huh.

Went to work, loaded the 151 build and ran though it. Fine, as expected.

One bug they believed was fixed though it wasn't marked as such. So I took the settings off the machine, in order to verify it. I guess it's fixed. That I did right after lunch. Then there was a few meetings, and that was that. Didn't write anything new, but then, neither did anyone else. Close to being done with the pass, not that it means anything because we'll just start another.

Tomorrow I'll work on boot up, and pick another.

Came back, several calls including my favorite dentist guy! Yay! Oh, and I called the orthodontist office in the morning, got my retainers ordered. So I'm seeing dentist guy tomorrow, he says he has "a virus" so who knows.

Talked Jim through how to start reloading his machine, because he blew it away somehow, and then move everything from his other machine to it. (Migration Assistant)

And didn't reach some people yet.

I think it was the "torrent" itself. I downloaded episode 7 of GunGale Online and got 7 MB per second, it downloaded in less than a minute! I'm getting 6.4MB/sec on something "else" that I "got" to "test" the "speed." Excellent.

Tues:
Turns out the little greenlight box uses only 8 watts. I looked it up.

Now, onto the crappyness that was today.

Finished the boot up service and looked around for another service to do. What the? Fax hasn't been done yet? How did I miss that one? So I did that. Wrote up some stuff, as usual. About half the total bugs for today. Very nice, very nice.

Then started the completely awful "scan to completion" tests. How someone even came up with this stupid chart that passes for the "test cases" is beyond me. They want to know what happens if you interrupt the scan in the middle of it. Okay, but when the file goes across the wire in, like, a second, how am I supposed to do that, exactly? With USB it's a little easier to tell because the light sort of blinks when data is being transferred but all the cloud services are not worth testing. It's going to be either just before, or just after the file has been transferred. So it's pretty much pointless in the extreme.

Anyway, bashed my head into that for a bit, then went to see dentist guy.

He had some stuff in his crappy old laptop he still uses for some reason justified in his head but left me shaking mine.

Then came the usual 2 hour list of crap! Yay! I love getting home at 7:00.

To make phone calls. Well, only one to be fair. It was the lady I set up with the audio stuff. She's still having problems so either she doesn't understand "keep your PC on" or it's going off or something. Found a pair of speakers around here with two inputs, yeah, how about that? So I'll go over Saturday and give her those. That way either should just work.

Got ready for tomorrow, ate dinner, checked my sites, the usual. It's now 9:00, so I have like a whole hour before I have to get ready for bed.

On the plus side, I can come right home tomorrow. Er, after I stay an hour later to make up for Monday. I don't have any jobs, so I'll just do that and be back to 8-8-8 again for this week. Gonna be a long day.

Wed:

Some excitement in the evening hours today to tell you about. And by excitement of course I mean a bit of terror, followed by worry and boredom. Always fun. But that's at night, what about the day?

Finished up the scan to completion tests, and made some notes for future people running the thing which will hopefully not be me.

Then in the afternoon I upgraded to the latest release and worked on my bug fixes. They must have been working on the fax confirmation page, a bunch I had written up like a day or two ago were fixed. I went through them, of course the sharepoint ones will have to wait. We've not been able to do anything with that service for a month and a half. I'm sure it's fine.

I stayed late, erasing that -1 hours I had from Monday. I'll have to stay a little late tomorrow too, make up for getting the trays in the morning. Thanks, orthodontist people!

Got home, had dinner, sites, only phone call was about buying a new laptop so I offered my advice.

Was watching some anime when Tinker got up on my lap and I noticed something was off about him. He had this sort of mass on his neck, which I thought was maybe just matted hair? Nope. I was just trying to see what it was when it broke open and all this foul smelling stuff come out of it. Great. This was about 9:00 mind you, and I couldn't tell if he was bleeding or what.

So I took him to the animal hospital place, the one I went to for either him or Squeaker when they had their unary problem. It was that, right? I couldn't think of anything else it could have been. Anyway, got there about 9:15 and got out at 12:15. Nice. He came away with a totally shaved front and some staples. So he's Frankencat's monster at the moment. He was hungry when we got home though. He's currently up in the upstairs to keep him away from the others. Who of course are curious why he's not down with them. It's a pretty big cut? Slash? Claw wound? What even did this? He doesn't seem bothered by it, which is good. In fact if he had been scratching or trying to lick it or whatever I might have caught it earlier. What the heck?

Got ready for bed and it was 1:00 AM. Yay. It was only a few hours and $400. I can hardly feel it.

Thurs:

Gave kitty his pills, which he took like a champ. Have to be careful because I can't exactly hold his neck, that's where the problem is. It's right under his chin, what did he do? Still hungry, which is good because he needs to take the pills with food. One antibiotic and one pain medication. Be strong little man.

Got to work, started on the card payment test cases. Then called the vet to set something up to look at the wound a week from now.

Made many modifications to the test cases. Basically made it more like a chart and less about this sku and if the scan picked up the difference between letter and legal. It was basically still in "staples mode" who cared about that sort of thing. We don't. So out with it!

Wasn't as wiped out as I thought I would be, strangely. Managed to stay on task and get it done. Even got a few more bugs verified when we could log into sharepoint again. Stayed an extra half hour for that, so arriving slightly late tomorrow should be no problem.

My Tinker appointment is for Wednesday the same day as my dentist appointment. I figure that's at 11:40 so I can head out at lunchtime, then just leave a few minutes early to go back home and get Tinker. No one will be the wiser.

Tinker is fine, by the way. Still fairly hungry, he took his pill and started in on his food. The other two are still "why can't we go up there" while he wants to come down. Silly tinker! Cut Squeaker's nails, the prime suspect of how this happened. I'll have to keep a better eye on them.

Made two calls, telling someone how to maximize a window (it's thrilling, I know) and told someone their machine is probably dying because it keeps hanging. I'm going there Sunday, which is a real treat for me.

Or wait, no, what's the opposite of that?

Anyway, looking to the future:

Going to bed early.
Tomorrow getting my trays.
Then starting in on the final release of the AT&T software, and good riddance.
Bank. Shopping.
Seeing my parents.

Saturday:
Calling Spectrum and waving bye-bye to them.
Work.
No Sean at this point.
Then Sunday watching more stuff I hope.

Next week is going to be interesting. Monday is the Dr Who movie with the gang at 7:00.
Then the Wednesday stuff.
Hopefully after that things will start calming down around here.
I mean really, it's been a madhouse. I don't know how people with kids do it. I really don't.

So that's this week folks. Hope you had a good one, I'll see you next time… when June is half over already. Father's day? Summer starts? Yipes!
