2017-08-31:

Fri:
Got though the scan to dropbox service in the morning. My auto script had updated the printer next to me with the latest. Though I might be able to test thinprint but when I went to the actual screen, it just went white. Whoops. Getting there through the search was no better, changing any options and hitting apply just did nothing.

Back to the other lab it is!

Write a few bugs, 3 to be exact. John wrote three and I wrote three. The other two wrote none. Why do we employ you again? Ah well, at least the one guy has an excuse, he's only been here a week.

In the afternoon we tried to figure out how to actually do the thing the client paying us to add the feature wants to do. Not looking good.

Then some typing practice, because there's really nothing left for me to test on the tablet side.

To the bank, did the shopping (they had salad AND frozen orange juice, amazing!) and out to see my parents. Showed them the new books, got to pet their outdoor kitty on the way out. Be safe outdoor kitty. Thin Kitty. Dirty kitty. Kitty skin and bone. Nice kitty, picky kitty, find a good home.

Back here I made my calls, made a very early appointment to get it out of the way. It's Ray who has "some problems" he "hope won't take very long." I doubt they will friend. Then I'm free. FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE BORN FREE, as free as the grass grows. I got some grass in my dead spot this year. Crab grass, but still.

Watched the last Lost Girl, that series went a bit downhill I fear. Have to fan fiction it with Lysanias.

Got ready for tomorrow, had a little time, ran that battle from the last chapter.

Sat:
Got up far too early for a weekend and got over to my only appointment. His monitor was extended rather than mirrored, a fact I could have solved over the phone had he told me that was his major issue. What was not phone solvable was amazon saying he wasn't connected to the internet through his smart TV. Well, he was.

I did an update on the firmware and that seemed to fix it. Took a long time, but weird seeing the android update screens like I see on the tiny tablets at work on a TV.

Being near stores I stopped into the plaza by where grandma used to live, then to the one near my sister. No fabric store. I wanted to get some fabric and maybe make a slightly better screen than just the freaking wall for my projector. I looked up a DIY guide for building a frame and stuff, and I have a lot of long wood still.

Back here I looked up where the last jo ann's was, and built the frame. The fabric was on sale and there was 20% off coupon so I went down to get it before lunch. Got it for about 50% off in the end. $22 of material for $14. Nice.

Back here I ate lunch, worked on chapters 7 and 8, finished them up. Figured out the plot from here at least up to day 23.

Then watched a movie on the new screen. Success!

Sun:
Got two chapters written today, and we're past the "Lysanias learns a bunch of stuff" portion and timeskipping into the future. Well, a few days, anyway. Then more days later, as the series seems to accelerate the timeline after a point.

Cleaned up the house, but not the big clean I'll do for labor day. Was nice out. Saw a monarch but it flew away before I could get a picture. I did get a picture of a bee and some flowers though.

Made a few calls. One guy trying to use a monitor, yes a monitor, with a surface pro 1790. His older one works just fine. It gets the full resolution. The "newer" one… does not. He says he's using the same cable that works on the older one. His driver is up to date. Forums seem to have conflicting information. Spent a half an hour looking stuff up and he's still no better off. Love ya MS.

Booked tuesday, as I already had tomorrow booked. Also told a guy how to choose his printer on a Mac. It's right there dude, it's a dropdown. Yeah, right there. There you go.

Mon:
No closer to thinprint goodness so I just poked at the tablet stuff today. Up to an even one hundred bugs, woohoo! John wrote I think two, and the others wrote… *drum roll* NONE. Nice.

Though really it's just basic, random crap that no one would really run into. Touching the tablet in two places? Switching USB drives? Come on. But they want bugs, they get them.

Couple of meetings, one for the AT&T stuff put into the newer printers. Won't be until mid next year, so not sure why but there you have it. Hopefully that will insure my continued employment at least, having more work lined up even that far out.

Far out man!

Wait, that's fallen out of usage now. Had cake, that was a thing.

Went to my appointment, the lady with the old laptop and the new laptop who was still using the old one. She decided to finally switch over, would have liked to have known that a little bit earlier? Like before I drove out there, perhaps? Nope. Sigh.

Back here I ate dinner, made some calls booking Thursday, and talking some people through some stuff.

Wrote chapter 11, didn't get to proofread it. Amon shows his face (sorta, he wears a mask) and Lysanias yoinks his power and make it his own. Not that he'll ever blood bend I don't think, but we'll see. In the show they show a guy blood bending a whole room full of people, is that really realistic? How can his one brain keep track of that much stuff? Anyway, not important.

Got ready for tomorrow, my shapeways stuff shipped (at least 2/3 of it) so looking forward to getting that.

Got something in the mail today I can talk about though. Remember the place I went back to three times, to get the data off a laptop? And there was the irrationally angry woman there I didn't want to talk about? Yeah, I got their check back. So the whole job cost me $30. "Account not found" was the reason. Thanks. Thanks a lot.

Tues:
More messing about at work. All the machines were signed out so I couldn't load the latest build. Even the machine next to "my" seat was taken for yesterday and today, but I don't think it was even touched. If you're not using it, take your name off! Got it back for tomorrow though. I hope she put the admin password back to defaults.

Moved a bunch more old bugs over. Found that there were some in the "reopened" state that we didn't check, and more in the "in progress" state. So I'm up to 110 at this point.

Went out to do a few easy things for my after work activity, tried to get over to the guy I'm going to see tomorrow, but he wasn't there. Sigh. I was just down the street too, and now I have to go all the way back there.

Got back, ate dinner, checked sites, talked about a half hour to a guy with a wireless problem, but who knows if he was entering the password right. It worked in the end, so…
What's with all the junk calls today? Like five of them, weird.

No writing. I got ready for bed. Woke up tired today, and I slept all night. Haven't gone to Sean's so my sleep schedule hasn't been disrupted. Odd. Going to bed early.

Wed:
I haz software!

It was in and works 95% of the time. They fixed my previous concerns and got rid of the funny lines they had put into the screen. So it even looks better. I only got to test half of the full thing, all the B series printers were signed out! Sheesh. Until the 4th, even. But I wrote up a few things, and asked a question about values able to be set one way but not the other. Very strange.

That took all day, didn't do any tablet stuff. Apparently we got the new build of that, so I can go back to that tomorrow. Yay.

Out at 4:00 to the guy who lost his internet. He plugged his cable in, too bad it was in the wrong place. Apparently at some point his ethernet port stopped working and he bought a USB to ethernet adapter? I don't think I sold him something like that, why would I? I still have a box of XP only ethernet adapters. (For sale, cheep!) So if he had plugged it back into there, it would have been fine.

Ah well. Back here I wrote chapter 12.

No calls, that was nice. Oh, and I woke up feeling fine this morning, don't you worry. That extra two hours sleep will do that for you, I reckon.

Got ready for tomorrow, checked out my sites, the usual.

Thurs:
Little bit of everything today. Finished up the last thinprint test case, and then looked at the SNMP stuff. Now it doesn't work at all. How did you screw it up between yesterday and today?

Back on the tablet side I had a bunch of bugs to verify, so I did that. Put together some numbers to report, had some meetings.

Then my after work job. She insisted her printer wasn't plugged in, nor had it been used with the machine before. Wrong. It WAS plugged in, and it HAD been used with the machine before. I pushed the tray in and it printed just fine. Then she wanted to be shown how to add contacts in gmail. Did she know her password, changed just 53 days ago? NO, of course not. Then trying to get her to type, just type, her husband's name into the name field she couldn't find where "c" was on the keyboard. Am I going to turn into that one day? I very much hope not.

Back here ate dinner, got the one gift in, despite it being shipped later than the set of two. Odd. But it looks SO GOOD. I'm really, really happy with how it came out. So totally happy. Can't wait to see the others, which should get here tomorrow.

Made one call, but she had already solved it. By rebooting. Nice.

So nothing for Saturday as of yet. Plans are to get started on the cleaning, like the dusting around here and the deck. No Sean for now. Maybe I'll have dad over for a movie?

Then of course the usual labor day stuff, yes it's that time already folks. Long list this year. That's either Sunday or Monday. Which I have off, so hopefully some writing or maybe a bit of video game playing? Who am I kidding, it's just writing.

Which I'll do after I make your favorite pancakes.

Have to do my paperwork too, maybe I'll do it before three weeks pass this month. Ah well. Probably do some writing tonight, why not?

So that's August. A quarter of the year left. Sheesh.
