2017-02-10:
Of course that was after my fridge was acting up in the morning. Got up and the blower was running, but the compressor would kick on, then turn off. Then kick on, then turn off. Over and over.
Everything was thawing and I was somewhat concerned. But then right before I left it kicked on and stayed on. Weird. Second time it's done that lately.
Went to work, got through the feature now that it exists again. Found pretty much the same stuff, so at least it didn't get screwed up by being put in.
Worked some more on the delay problem with Chris, but still no joy on that front.
Did the usual shopping and such, deposited money, got cat food.
Had dinner with my parents, and they offered to buy me a new fridge for my birthday. Well, it's only right, it's not every day your boy turns forty now is it?
"Hey what did you get for your fortieth?"
"I got a fridge!"
Now all I need is the furnace (and my mother reminded me, my washer) and that'll be just about everything big around here.
Got back here to look into models/prices. It's cheeper to buy one with the freezer up top AND a stand alone freezer, than it is to buy one that's side by side. How is that even possible? It doesn't make sense to me.
Finished Chapter 244. Susan is having a lot of fun with these guys.
Two calls, but neither resulted in jobs, so I have just the one for the morning. Then in the afternoon I'm going to look at refrigerators with my parents.
Sat:
The morning one was quite easy. Her router did, I believe, have something wrong with it. There was no wireless signal coming from it at all, and when I reset it, I saw it for a brief second and then it went away again.
Sold her another one and came home.
Once there I cleaned the house up in case I was getting a fridge delivered today, and did some writing.
Went down to the appliance place, and picked one out. How can I get a top freezer model AND a chest freezer cheaper than a single side by side model? And why do they all have ice makers in the door? I don't have water going to that part of the house, it's useless. Worse than, because so much space is wasted by it. Ah well.
One year warrantee, glad the company stands behind their product.
Anyway, big thank you to my parents, who are buying it for me. Please continue to fill it with yummy food.
It should be delivered next Saturday.
Went back to writing and watched a little Korra, just because.
Got through Chapter 245, and Susan just met The Darkness on this world. Sort of. She's looking into the past, and The Darkness is about to have a conversation with her in the future. Freaky!
Sean wants to get together tomorrow? But I can't because I'm going to my sister's house for my father's birthday.
Worked on my mother's valentine's day gift. Didn't have the wood I wanted, but I did have a substitute I think will work just as well. We'll see! It actually looks pretty go so far. *crosses fingers*
Sun:
Great day of writing. Woke up at the normal time despite my alarm being turned off, so I got to it.
Wrote chapter 246, 247 and part of 248. Nice!
Saw my family for the big game and birthday celebration.
Made some calls when I got back, but only booked Tuesday. Huh.
Mon:
Bit of excitement first thing in the morning. Both my printers were dead! Yup, the one that is next to me just lit up like a christmas tree… and nothing else.
The other was flashing between our logo and the energy star logo, again, and again, and again, and again, and…
So we (Chris did most of the work) got the one back. The other claims it's out of space? Odd. He doesn't know what to do about that one. What the heck happened to them? They were fine when I left Friday.
The afternoon I did the two easier test cases, and started the main feature testing of turning admin off. Uh, they've screwed it up. A bunch of tests that had passed now failed. Well done. Wrote up a couple and I'll probably find more. Ugh.
No job so came home and finished Chapter 248. Time to go see Lucifer!
No new jobs for this week, so just the one for tomorrow as yet. I have plenty of testing to do though, yay!
Tues:
Lots of work done today, uh, at work. I finished up all the other test cases and there weren't any more problems. There was some changed behavior but not in a bad way. Everything cooperated so it looks pretty good. If they can get the bugs fixed I've already found by launch. A couple of things were fixed, oddly they aren't marked as fixed in the tracker. Weird.
Went to go reset a password after that. How do you lock yourself out of your own machine? It boggles the mind.
Wrote chapter 249 when I got home, ate dinner, made a few calls. Booked tomorrow, not sure what his problem is because as usual it can't be articulated. It's not too far away, so hopefully it won't take long and I can get home.
Rained pretty hard today. Was not bitterly cold, thank goodness, and tomorrow will be "warm" as well.
Wed:
Even more drama at work! Well, not really, but the machine I wanted to test didn't quite take the upgrade file as I had intended. What is with that machine lately?
Chris and I got it back up and running, and I started testing. Cloning still doesn't work, so I actually got through everything I could on it. Neat.
Had a meeting to go over the list of bugs, and that was that.
My after work job was switching his monitor from analog to digital so it showed his machine again. Not sure why it wasn't smart enough to do that on its own. It's a crappy old Vista machine, so it's complaining about support ending. Took off MSE and put panda in place of it. It's a 4 core machine but it was SO SLOW. The processor wasn't being utilized at all. Just the crappy HD grinding away. So lame.
Got back here, ate dinner, checked my sites, made my one phone call. Saturday at 10:00, so we'll see when the fridge comes I guess.
Worked on my mother's valentine's gift, got ready for tomorrow.
Thurs:
Which started with needing to reload yet another machine via netboot because the daily build borked it. Naturally this had a different procedure than the other machines I did because why be consistent with anything? That's for losers.
But we managed it (I watched) and got back to testing. Used the new logging feature to help update a bug, and wrote a bunch more bugs for things I had seen and have not yet been fixed as promised.
Had a long meeting about a future project and came home.
Ate dinner, no calls! So worked on chapter 250.
Future plans: No bank tomorrow, no point. So shopping and seeing my parents.
No Sean probably, but refrigerator hopefully on Saturday. One job at least.
Then more writing Sunday? Probably.
See you next week everyone.
