2016-10-21:

It's super effective!

Fri:
It finally happened!

Stable enough software that I could actually test all day, and no meetings… so I could test all day!

Flew through stuff, got three of the six done (really 5 because I still don't know how the 6th is going to go.)

Found a few new problems with the new web software, but also a few things that got fixed already. So that's a wash.

They seem to have broken cloning completely, don't ask me how.

Chris got the daily build up on the smaller machine in the lab, and it's, uh, missing most of the changes that should be in the software. Whoops?
We also figured out why I couldn't add clone files to the website. I was going to the IP address, they were using the address "localhost." Should that even matter? No, not really. But it apparently does.

So yeah, pretty great, right? Went to the bank at lunch time, then I could stay until 6:00 rather than going shopping, going back home, then going back out there. I figured with the entire week I wasn't able to test, two hours wasn't that much to "donate" in return.

I got there just as my parents did, and we had some yummy pizza.

Then I came back here. Couple of calls, no new jobs thank goodness. So still three for tomorrow.

And now it's about 9:30. Guess I'll get ready for tomorrow then.

Sat:
Ah yeah, lemme tell you about Saturday friends.

Not people who are only your friend on Saturday, there should have been a comma there. Very important, commas, if you, use them, in, a responsible, manner.

What was I saying- Oh right, Saturday.

Got up, got a start on the next chapter and left for my 10:00 believing certain things. Like, that I might be home again before Sunday. No.

First off the machine was totally taken over by something. mbam didn't find it, because after running it, the machine still ground to a halt after about 30 seconds of being on. So I ran THREE OTHER anti-malware programs and all found something. I tell a lie, TDSSkiller did not. The other two did. Finally the machine did not grind to a halt. Here's a tip for you malware authors out there- making the machine run like crap instantly signals there's a problem! DuH!

So I left from there to go to the next one, setting up the Mac. Now here a slight flaw in the Mac OS was revealed. During the last stage of the transfer via Migration Assistant the old one went to sleep. Uh, no? You should turn that off, maybe? Because it messed the process up big time.

Had to wipe the account out and she decided to just move a few things over. Like her beat up old one where the screen only works at certain angles isn't on the way out. But she promised to get a flash drive and back the whole machine up, so that's fine.

As that took me far longer than I would have said I immediately left for York, hoping that in the half an hour I had remaining I could get there, install their RAM, and get to Red Robin to eat. Astonishingly enough, I did it! And I was even earlier than the others. (Sean and Mizzy where already there)

That place was packed. And it's easy to see why. Maybe it was just not eating anything since 7:30 that morning but that was one dang good burger! The onion rings were also large and delicious, and I think we got like five extra orders of fries we did't actually order. Would recommend!

Got gas, going slightly out of the way to get to the fasttrack station I knew about. Then passed two others on the way to Sean's so that was the universe just rubbing my nose in it.

Played some games. Sean didn't do too well at the zombie food making game. He got a -53 as I recall. The winner got close to 150 points (again as I recall, it was quite late at that point.)

So I got in and got to bed at about 1:30 Sunday morning.

Sun:
At least I had a restful day today. Got more Warcraft III in, up to a few missions into the Orc campaign. So close to the Night Elves, the real reason I wanted to play it.

Of course the usual straightening up, ordering the RAM for the Mac laptop lady, getting ready for tomorrow. A few calls, but I didn't reach 2/3 of them. Odd. The other was just him logging into a different account somehow. Whatever. Did my paperwork at last. Very few customers last month. Hardly made anything. Is that what I want or not? Part of me says yes, part of me (the part that keeps track of my financials) says… no.

I figured I would be more tired, getting up at 7:30 but I wasn't. Well, back to it tomorrow, but no after work job so that's good.

Mon:
More actual working! On stuff! And things!

Took the whole day and worked on the CWW and web service stuff. Found a few things, and even ran most of the test cases. Not all, as actually putting a clone file in does nothing. So some things I can't verify actually work. But most of it does, and that leaves me just with Cloning and the new networking log to do.

Which may start tomorrow as the development team claims to have solved the issue with the build not working. We'll see.

Got back here, ate dinner, checked my sites. Made some phone calls, still did not reach the dentist guy. I have a quick one tomorrow, an iPad she says doesn't look right. Not that I'll be able to do anything about it, and I told her so. But it's not far away so whatever.

Also booked sunday afternoon, here. Changing a Mac laptop over to SSD. He's going to sit here for hours rather than just leave it, or come and go. I suppose he lives a half hour away, but still. It's going to take hours. UGh.

Finished 228, one episode has become at least one chapter and probably two. Whoops. Oh well.

Tues:
Very warm today. Love it.

Tried the latest daily build, and yes, it does fix the problem of the endless reboots. And most of the functionality is there! Amazing. What is still broken is clone files working, which we investigated for part of the day.

Too bad, that's the only part that hasn't been seriously tested at this point. They're looking into it, and given recent timeframes it'll be only a week until the problem is fixed.

Went to a few meetings, wrote up my first two bug reports, and got the green light to write up a bunch more. So I'll be doing that tomorrow morning.

Went over to see the iPad lady, she had simply turned "invert colors" on somehow. Guess it wasn't the screen at all.

Came back here, more yummy soup, and checking my websites for the day.

Still didn't reach the dentist guy, but did reach one person with some email trouble, at least that's what she's saying it is. Who knows what it really it.

Got more into the Orc campaign in Warcraft.

Wed:
New software that almost wasn't broken today. We celebrated a bit too early, apparently my updating with the website kept the library file Chris had moved previously where it was, which made clone files work. We discovered this when I loaded the other machine just in case that was the… well, case.

It was.

But we got an email they worked out the issue, so perhaps tomorrow we'll have an actual, good, working build.

As cloning at least partly worked I started that set of test cases. Some odd things with it, that's for sure.

I now have 7 bugs in the system, so we're heading towards 700 like a shot. A very, very, old time lead shot propelled by black powder and none too accurate.

So it was reloading machines, and testing, and writing up bugs that kept me busy today. And I was pretty busy!

Went to see about the email problem, she just wasn't hitting "remember password" I think. She had a few other questions and that was that. It was a Mac, I did remember that.

Picked up the laptop and got it here for the conversion. It was larger as I thought, but the cloning software just took care of it. Took about 2.5 hours but now it boots in 30 seconds instead of over a minute. Cleaned it out as well, might save me some time later.

No calls today, but called the guy back so I could bring the laptop back. I think he'll be pleased. And ashamed he did not listen to me in the first place.

Checked my sites, put the latest chapter up, and did a bit of writing. He's not going down to Mobius, there's no real solution there and it's already been a chapter so there.

Thurs:
More good work done today. Chris got assigned to the project as well, so I'm not testing alone now. Office Depot is also apparently spinning up, so Senpai will be kept busy as well.

As for me, I finished up the clone test cases after verifying that the build for today was indeed a good one, and didn't need any "one weird tricks" to get working.

Worked on SNMP calls and had some meetings in the afternoon. Got some questions answered and the CWW guys agreed I found some bugs. I'll reproduce them tomorrow morning and write up the machine ones. They agreed some of the CWW stuff I found should be fixed as well, so everyone was happy.

Well, not everyone.

Rained fairly hard today.

After work I dropped off the laptop. Did you think he wouldn't have a whole stack of things on his list that he wanted me to do? AHAHAH so silly, you weren't paying attention. He did. You want to do all this crap? Why don't you look a few things up yourself? Oh right, you know I'll basically do it for free. Right. Right.

Finally got home, had yummy soup. That soup lasted me, two weeks now! So yummy.

Made a few calls, the lady for the RAM wants next Saturday, so fine. With my Sunday appointment I have, uh, just that one, actually. I didn't reach the other person. Something about "icons" for the lady I set a machine up for. Some time ago. Remember the lady that wasn't there and I put her machine behind her house? That one. How long ago was that? Must not be that important!

No news from Sean, so not sure about Saturday. Rainy, cold, and yucky the next few days. Must be fall.

Tomorrow of course I'll do the shopping, go to the bank (only the check from dentist guy makes it worth it) and see my parents.

Another week done. And I actually have more work to look forward to. How about that?

See you all next week.
