2016-10-14:

Fri:
Tried to load a machine today, but just got the endless reboots they spoke of. Sue thought perhaps one from a few days ago would work, but apparently not. I found our linux server sitting under a desk while waiting for it to load. Ancient PIII thing. Wild. Lot of junk in that lab. But at least it was quiet, being Friday. And I now have access to the daily builds, so that's a step in the right direction.

So I did more test case stuff, and we had another team review, not that we got all that far in only an hour. More talking about what was needed to test than what I had already written.

Out to the bank, then shopping. They again didn't have salad. I was going to get a head of lettuce but then changed my mind and decided to get the stuff for taco soup. Forgot the meat, had to go back and get it.

Went home to feed the kitties and put the stuff away, then back out to my parent's house. Had dinner, then went to the Star Trek movie. I actually think it was probably the best of the bunch so far. They really wanted the ship in pieces though, ouch. And why make it three years in the future from the last one? Odd.

Got home very late, went to bed right away.

Sat:
My goodness today was long.

Got up at 7:00 to get out to my 8:30, which had printer trouble but not much else. Mbam found nothing for a wonder, and firefox was working just fine. So whatever.

Dropped off the desktop and moved her stuff over. That went okay, she managed to find her RR password.

Back here for a quick lunch, then a 1/2 hour trip to deliver the laptop. I hadn't put all the drivers in? Wha? So I had to do that over her crappy DSL connection. And of course the toshiba site didn't have all of them, I had to use the AMD site and get some.

Then down to York. Their machine doesn't like the DDR2 RAM I have, it's 400 speed but that should work. The manual said it would, anyway. But no, it just beeps at me. I don't think more will even help, but whatever. They also have a Win10 machine they can't get into because all four users are unknown. Three remote "MS account" users and one local. I tried my password reset tool, didn't work. Well done, MS. Well done.

So I was a bit late for my 4:00, and he had "just two minutes" of stuff before I took the laptop to replace the HD. (Guess what I thought when he said that. Yeah, there's no way it's two minutes.) I was right. It was an hour. He was trying to fill out this form so some visiting relative from India can visit Canada. Of course it only supported IE, and didn't really say that, so both Chrome and "edge" didn't work. Nicely done, government website. Way to be forward thinking. You know IE is dead, right?

So we finally got the form uploaded, but there's no "pay now" or "continue" or whatever button. So that was also useless, as he mailed them and didn't give me the machine.

Finally back at 6:00 I ate dinner, checked my sites.

Have had the oddest hankering to play Warcraft III again.
Did a bit.

Sun:
Finally a somewhat relaxing day.

Played more Warcraft III, got through the human campaign.

Made my yummy soup, and cornbread.

Cleaned up a little, but it wasn't too bad.

Had a few calls, so I have a job for tomorrow. I think she might be trying to email word documents from word to a webmail? Not sure, she couldn't… you know the drill.

Whoops, she called back, she has a meeting tomorrow night, I'm going there Tuesday instead. Whatever!

Mon:
As quickly as that, it's over.

Not really, but we didn't get software over the weekend, so I still couldn't test the other parts of the solution. Sigh. So today was mainly looking more at the CWW test cases and marking down some pass/fail for them. I had done a bunch of test cases, true, but I hadn't put any results in. Come up with some more test cases too, but not that many. It's about to about 160 I think for that service. It's actually two things, the CWW and the "web service" it interacts with. That's the part I'm trying to load, but the machine just reboots endlessly when I do.

Le Sigh.

Had a yucky donut (didn't think there was such a thing) and a brownie that wasn't a brownie. It was some dense sort of apple cake with walnuts. I was sold a lie! But it was still good. Just not a brownie that I was biting into.

Back here, as I had no job tonight, I worked on reading over chapter 226 which I hadn't proof read, and then started 227. Checked my sites, ate dinner, and then made my phone calls. A few questions fielded from the lady I sold the desktop to, and an appointment made for next Saturday. New Mac setup, she hopes it'll be here Friday.

And that was that. Meetings tomorrow, and perhaps the nightly build will actually work? We can hope.

Tues:
Guess what we didn't get today? That's right, usable software. But don't worry, I had plenty of meetings to go to instead. Apparently India had a holiday today and yesterday, so nothing got done. So maybe tomorrow, which is their workday happening around now that I'm typing this.

Did make more changes to the test cases, and saw in the review that I would need to make some more. No problem, I can do that.

John is off to work on the inkjet object printer, so it's just Senpai and myself now. So I guess he takes over tablet duty?

Went over to the lady with the printer issue, got that and her "sending from word" issue straightened out. As I expected, she was simply trying to use the attach function in word and use webmail at the same time. Ain't gonna work, lady!

Got back, had yummy soup, and worked on some changes to the Darkolt document.

Got the replacement Mac dropped off so I started doing that. My copy of 10.11 is corrupt? Uh, no, I don't think so? Sigh. Downloaded a new copy.

Oh, I see. It's not corrupt, it just doesn't like the date being this late. Some kind of digital certificate that's expired. Thanks, Apple!

Rebuilt my flash drive and got the Mac installed to 10.11 so migration assistant would work. At least it's finally going.

No calls today, so I get to come back directly tomorrow. Maybe finish that chapter off.

Wed:
Guess what I didn't get today! That's right, a raise… or working software.

Looking over test cases it is! I got through the ones I had started from the meeting yesterday, that took only half the morning.

John went away, he's off working on something cool.

But not to worry, Senpai is still around.

Somehow got through the day, and came back here.

Made some changes to the book, because apparently book guy doesn't want to bother I guess.

Ate dinner while checking my sites.

Then put in some Darkbolt corrections.

Did a little writing, and made some calls. Didn't reach the one person with an email issue, someone sending him something is getting bounced back? He's probably addressing it wrong.

And the outreach machine is infected so I'm going over there tomorrow. Maybe after testing something? We'll see.

Finished chapter 227.

Thurs:
Hey, guess what happened! Right, nothing!

Had a developer or something messing with the machine, and for, oh, two minutes I thought we had it.

Nope.

It's doing better though, it used to reboot instantly, now you might see the UI for a minute or two before it reboots. A whole week they haven't been able to get us a build that worked. What are they doing over there?

Had a meeting, got a few of my questions answered. We did get a new version of the web control software so if I still have nothing for tomorrow, I can at least look that over. I'm still getting that weird error about the date range being wrong. We figured out it's a permissions thing, I guess? And they're revamping the requirement you have to be remoted into the web server box to add a clone file. Because that's just stupid.

No John, he's really gone I guess. He was back talking to one of the Staples developers for a minute.

Did more work on test cases. I now have 424, about, for those keeping track at home. And I thought I was doing pretty good when I had less than 200. Imagine how many I'll have once I can actually start testing!

Went over to the outreach place after work. Simple cleanout, nothing too major.

Back here, ate dinner, checked my sites. Couple of calls, so I took care of them.

Still am not sure how I want the next Susan mission to go, the episode doesn't give me much wiggle room.

But I have three places to go Saturday, one in the morning, two in the afternoon. Oddly we're talking Sean out for his birthday saturday, and the place Mizzy picked is right down the street from york. I found some RAM that's the right type, I hope, so we'll give that another try and be right where I need to be anyway. How often does that happen?

Sunday I really have to do paperwork. From last month. Sigh.

That's about all for this week. Have a good weekend out there, people. Enjoy it before the snows come.
