2016-05-20:
Fri:
Pretty quiet today in the lab. As expected.
Did a bit more just generic running of jobs, and then got into alerts, that goes on forever. It'll keep me occupied the rest of the time, believe me.
Not much found, but then there shouldn't be at this late stage. Oddly I couldn't do any file types but the built in ones, and never got an answer about why that might be.
Did the usual Friday stuff, no real surprises there. Got four calls, reached two of them. The Mac user I saw a few weeks ago, the one with just mail hung up? She says she doesn't get any mail and can't send either. So who knows what her minor issue is now. That's for Thursday of next week, whatever.
And the dentist guy emailed me, with his usual list of bizarre crap. I haven't written him back yet. I suppose I will. Sometime.
Started the next chapter, duh!
Sat:
Worked on the chapter a bit, watched the next episode not that I'm going to use much from it.
Got sauce and meatballs from a customer. Made the cake we would later eat at Sean's.
Watched the last Dark Souls video I never had time to watch.
Then left for Sean's.
Had some fun with board games, watching Dredd, then more games, then some Overwatch a FPS on the xbox one.
Sun:
Haven't slept that long in a long time! Got up pretty late, watched the movie Sean had given me. Then my one regular show and viewed my Sunday websites.
Then did some proofreading, cleaning up around here, and put a couple of things on ebay I found in a box that I had never sold. Like my old car radio, forgot all about that. And the old GPS unit I've had sitting on my stairs forever, as a couple of them did go, so I figured I would try it.
Alternately rained, was sunny, and hailed today. Very odd.
Sold one of the game lots, so I packed that up as it had been paid for. Slowly getting rid of them.
Talked to a few other people, only call from before that was the dentist guy with his usual crappy list of stuff he can't be bothered to look into himself and that no one else ever want to do. So that fun job is Tuesday. My fun job for tomorrow is in the morning, apparently the machine I replaced the capacitors on is "doing the same thing" and something about her laptop, I don't know because of course she can't articulate the actual problem. Something about her password? Windows 10? Who knows.
Good sauce and meatballs.
Mon:
Bit of writing today. Got a third of the way through chapter 211.
Did the one job, seemed like another capacitor burst, which I hope is all of them with that particular issue. As for the laptop, she said it just 'went back to windows 8' on its own. Sure, whatever. But it did seem like it had been restored for some bizarre reason. So I got that working again.
Got one call, didn't answer. So I just have the dentist guy tomorrow. Oh, I got the battery in finally so I'm going over there wednesday. Thursday is booked by the mac lady, and tomorrow I'm going to the launch party for staples. Somewhat out of character perhaps, but free pizza!
So the later part of the week will be pretty busy, actually. How about that?
Tues:
Checked my websites and such when I got up, then left for the 9:00. As I expected, didn't get home until 11:30. At least his requests were not totally off the wall this time.
Ate lunch, worked on putting Ifruita from paper to the electronic system. My parents came to get the old lawn mower, and instructed me on a few things.
I repotted a plant and oiled my sewing machine as directed, then went back to working on chapter 211.
When it was time I left for the party.
Came in, a bunch of people were already drinking beer. First thought "oh yeah, this was a mistake." But it was fine. Their food is really, really good. Wow. I at least knew some people there, about half the test team came. Senpai couldn't because of babysitter issues I guess. Sorry, Senpai.
Came back here, finished chapter 211. No calls, made the one call from yesterday, but didn't reach her until she called me back. She's right down the street from the Mac lady on Thurs, so she said that would be fine.
Worked on my RPG as Sean again expressed interest in doing that game.
Wed:
Back to work! Started the day with an older 5.0 build as the 5.1 build we got before was with the whole OS, which is not what they wanted. So they had been working to get everyone back to the older stuff (which is a big pain) while I was away.
So I didn't get much done in the morning until the build came out.
Started testing it, there's a bunch of new screens that are annoying, and full of grammatical mistakes. Yes, one week before we're supposed to hand this off "for realz this time" we're adding new screens? I thought it was critical bugs only, with an eye for the least amount of risk possible? Well, wrote that crap all up, and I found a few things to further investigate tomorrow morning.
Dropped off the laptop, looked over another that was basically fine, and came home.
Had 3 calls, wow, so I have a job for saturday and sunday. Two tomorrow, mac lady "oh I can't get email" and a cleanout just down the street. Should be great.
I've gotten THREE junk calls tonight, and one from before. What the heck?
Added animal qualities to the darkbolt system powers list. I keep forgetting to do it. I mean if someone has cat ears or eyes, they should be able to take night vision or good hearing, right?
Watched the next Andromeda episode, which focuses on Tyr who I got rid of. Sorry Tyr, it's going to be a very different episode, and you don't get to have the baby you once would have. HAHA.
Thurs:
So close to getting through alerts! Didn't take as long as I had feared, and even wrote up a few things. Like buttons not doing what they should and the fax error messages being totally non-standard.
Out to my two appointments after that. The first one was totally easy, she had turned her wireless off somehow. Really.
Second one was a cleanout. First bit went fine, Mbam didn't take forty minutes to run despite it being a 1.4 Ghz processor so I figured I was in the clear. Then I tried to install McAfee (that she paid $45 for, haha) and it took a freaking long time. Then once it was finally installed, it ground the machine to a halt. Why do they even come with "firewall" software anyway? Everyone has routers at this point. It's just a waste of cycles. And the number of processes it spawned, oh my goodness.
So I got home a little after seven. Which could have been worse.
Only one call, to cancel Sunday, thank you very much. Oh, you're going out of town? You didn't know that yesterday? I suppose it's possible.
No plans for Sean's yet, but he wasn't sure. Going to the bank and shopping tomorrow, then my parent's as usual.
Finish up alerts, go back to copy (for a while on a machine with older firmware for some bizarre reason but that's the directive) and see how things fall out from there.
Probably some writing, who knows.
It might start being in the seventies next week. OMG!
That seems to be it for this week. Have a good one people.
