2016-02-19:

Fri:
Fairly uneventful today, but I'll note it down for the record. Got through all the open bugs I could, with the remainder for the next release. Did a few copy tests for the new custom tray, naturally it's mostly broken.

My hire buddy got permission to load his machine with 4.0, so sadly he will be back with me next week. Ah well, knew it had to happen sometime.

Did the banking, took half an hour to get out of there, it was really busy for some bizarre reason. Never seen that many people in there.

Did the shopping, and went to my parent's house. Got dinner ready for them as they were going to be home late, and got home about 8:15. Oh look, five calls!

Three of them were from a scammed lady. Honestly, how long is that scam going to work for, anyway?

So I stupidly agreed to go three places tomorrow. Weeeeee. Shoot, should have called the router guy, but by the time I got off the phone with the scammed lady it was 9:00. Well, I can try him tomorrow, if I'm feeling up to it. I don't know, three + Sean is a pretty busy day already.

Looked my websites over and it's basically time for bed. Huh.

Sat:
Bitterly cold, but did I let that stop me? Ha! I laugh in the face of danger.

No, what's the word? Hide? I hide! But I still had to do work. Not too much.

My morning one was just questions, and straightening a few things out. No big deal.

Came back for lunch, out again for a 1:00, she was somehow logged into a temp profile but logging her off made it disappear. She logged in normally then. Weird. Set her up with dropbox so some stuff was backed up, and done.

My 3:00 canceled, so I just watched stuff until it was time to leave. Got though most of Elementary.

We did the sherlock homes game over there, which requires a lot of thinking. I don't know, it was a bit odd, oh, three suspects smoke the same brand of cigarets do they? And a murderer is stupid enough to leave one behind at the scene? Really? But I guess they have to do something because it's not a visual medium.

Anyway, a cold drive home and into bed.

Sun:
Nice day off! Even saw the sun while I cleared my driveway.

More watching of stuff. Got through Elementary, Heroes, the latest episodes of Shadowhunters and some Supergirl. Whew. Of course I got two more seasons of Elementary so still no writing for a while. Oh, and I remembered the third next world I have planned for her. I said two last week, but I thought there was something else I wanted her to go. A short one, but an important one. Really should write these ideas down…

Packaged up the one thing that sold and got paid for. Sold only one controller lot, not paid for. Hum… put up the PS2 racing type games and tested the ps2 controllers. Should have done more of that but I don't want too much on, as the other stuff auto relisted. We'll see.

Some big storm in the works I hear, not looking forward to that.

Mon:
Pretty standard day today, though surprisingly it went pretty fast. Got my hire buddy back with me, what a treat. Did some more copy, reopened an old bug marked "can't reproduce" and maybe a few new ones. New build tomorrow so there will be more action then.

My after work job was so dark. Get a freaking lamp, will you? I should not have to bust out a flashlight in your living room! Lightbulbs do not increase your skin cancer risk or anything. Set up the modem, a router, and got his new iPad going. Hadn't started to snow by the time I got home, but they're calling for more than a foot tomorrow. Should be great.

Came back, watched the rest of Supergirl so I'm getting through stuff.

Yeah, not much to complain about today, so that's it for me. Signing off.

Tues:
Spent a bit of time doing the driveway before work, not that it helped. My goodness there was a ton of snow today.

Got in about half an hour late, roads were pretty bad.

With the new build loaded I was able to get through my newest opens, about 40 of them or so. More were added as I went on, so it was hard to keep total track. Still, many of them were fixed, some were not, and as usual some new ones (6 of 16) were written as new things broke. Hey, fax is showing up again!

Parking lot was cruddy. There were four cars left in it, all suck like 45 million year old flowers in amber. I rocked my way out with some impressing driving skill checks, and as I did the plows came by to get the others out. Thanks for nothing, suckers! Ride home wasn't too bad. Still, a whole winter worth of snow in a day? No thanks.

Did the driveway again before I could even get into it, and did not do my tuesday appointment. Gee, wonder why. I'll go tomorrow.

Spent 45 minutes on the phone doing a five minute job, because people can't follow simple directions to let me see their screen.

Despite this, I got caught up on my shows and went to bed!

Wed:
So there's a few things busted now. First, my small toaster oven. Seems not to warm up the top part, so you get half the heat you ask you.

And the snow plow whacked our shared mailbox post, so it is now leaning into a snowbank, and the door for mine (and just mine) was ripped off. Maybe I'll find it as the snow melts? But now one of us has to fix the stupid post, and we won't even be able to tell what's wrong until the snow melts.

Otherwise, work went fine. Got a new build (yes, that soon) so rather than move on with alerts I got busy verifying the stack of open bugs assigned to me. Lost an hour to the meeting, and got I think 9 done of alerts. Sigh. At least I should be able to start them tomorrow.

My "hire buddy" has had a bunch of documents pending upload, including the alerts doc, so I had to do some gyrations to get his latest copy so I could make the changes again and reupload it. The rest? Eh, probably too late, sorry. Whatever you did is probably just going to be lost. Nice job.

And a minor appointment after that, just checking over a Mac after she let some random person on her machine.

Not many calls today, though I was going to have tomorrow off. NOPE. At the last second the map maker guy called, his Mac is hanging. Of course he has no backup, so that's the first step. So I guess I'm getting him one and going over there.

Finished the anime I was watching, so tomorrow I hope to start Elementary season 2.

Thurs:
Ugh. This alerts and faults test cases is making me miserable. See, some time ago I went ahead and turned the spec into a very rough test case document. I had hoped someone who was not me would refine it. But now it looks like I get to refine it. The document seems to be all over the place, and a lot of things unclear, potentially untestable, or seemingly repeated from previous lines. But I guess it falls to me to track down the person responsible for it and shake them until answers fall out.

Otherwise, another meeting which took an hour, and a few more open tests to verify took up the day. Wrote up a few things, but my goodness it's slow going.

The after work job was the "hanging" mac which wasn't hung at all, the finder was just acting up for some reason. I let it back up, then rebooted it. Seemed to come up okay.

Also ordered RAM for his wife's iMac, and suggested another adapter for the monitor. In the meantime I plugged it into her other monitor with HDMI.

Their 19 year old cat died the day before. *Sad face.*

Plans for the next few days: shopping tomorrow of course. I only have three checks, but one is rather large so I suppose I'll hit up the bank. Only one call today, and it's someone I didn't reach yesterday. Haven't tried her yet this evening.

One job for Saturday that's here, just putting the battery in. That won't take any time.

Hoping for a quiet weekend! Guess we'll see how many calls come in between now and then.

Tomorrow I'll smash my face into the alerts document some more, see what sticks.

That should about do it.

Oh, here's what I made for my mother for Valentine's Day. It looks way better in person, I just had my phone with me to take the picture. Now that I think about it, I should have used her camera and just sent it to myself. AH well.

Hope your snow melts quickly! See you all next week.
