Fri:
Our supervisor brought in donuts for finding 2000 bugs, so that was nice of her. Let's get to 2000 more soon!
Caught a bit of a break, the new version fixed the paper size bug so I was able to finish up the copy test without too much difficulty. Went over my open bugs, and somehow the day was gone.
I was out of milk so I just brought my mug and hot chocolate powder. There's a hot water dispenser built into the coffee machine, so that worked pretty well. Next time I'll put in a little cold, it was too hot.
Got the stuff for making mom's valentine's day gift, made it to the bank, and then did the shopping. No salad again, what's with that? Went to my parent's house, some of their kitties are not doing so well, poor kitties. I saw deer though. Got my taxes back, my mother had them all figured out. Thanks again!
Got back, one lady whining 'oh, can you come tonight and set up my router?' Uh, no? It's 7:30 on a friday night, the ONLY night I "take off" so to speak. And it's freezing and snowing out. Forgive me for not rushing down to do what a ten year old could do for you. She was leaving Saturday morning so Sunday evening it is! I told her in the meantime to just plug the thing in. Honestly, you're not bad "at computers" you're bad at thinking things through to their logical conclusion. "Oh, this part connects to this part. But this part is broken. Maybe if I connect this part to my laptop, I could make it work without this part so I can get online for the stuff I need." Is it really so difficult?
Got the RAM finally. So much for 3 day shipping, thanks FedEx. Didn't even see it at first, I went to look up the number and it said it was delivered. At the "front door." Uh, no? There are no footprint tracks to the front door. Looked at the side door. Looked in the breezeway. Nothing.
Finally found it stuck into the paper box on the side of the house. The paper box! Not my front door, dude. That's side door if anything. But she said 3:30 was fine, leaving me with 5 jobs each day. That's 14 jobs this week, twice what I expected. I better make so much money this weekend…
Otherwise, made my other calls, started mom's gift and watched one whole episode. So much for my night off, it's time for bed.
Sat:
Actually went quite smoothly. Unlike how I fear tomorrow will go, but one day at time, right? Not bitterly cold either.
Got the modem in quickly, answered a few other questions and petted her dog that loved play with just about everything. His bed. Balls. A blanket.
Then over to install quicken. That went slowly, and why does it need 1gb of RAM in the system again? Hooked up a new printer to their network for a lady and that was that. Home for lunch.
Out at 1:00 to just answer some questions. I thought he was having trouble with his new printer, no, just using two different spreadsheet programs for some bizarre reason and they print differently.
Got to monitor guy early, but he wasn't there. Didn't matter, he had left the door open. Good thing he did. Stupidest design ever, but the good news is the new cable worked like a champ! Huh. [spoiler- it didn't last. The next day he called it was acting up again. AAAAARRRRGGGGG] Didn't see that coming. Took me from 2:00 to 3:00 just to get his stupid plastic bezel put back together. Awful design, thanks HP.
Then finally over to install RAM and upgrade OS X. Slight snag, it didn't like the RAM! UGh. Apparently I'm not the only one with that issue either. Others have complained about that, generic modules not working together. So they have 3gb instead of 4. That's still not too bad, I guess? Anyway, took them to 10.6, then 10.6.8, then started 10.11 and left that going.
Dropped off the CDs I made to the people that still insist on using them, and finally got home about 5:00. Put stuff away, ordered the battery for the first lady (I worked for, not Mrs Obama) and then ate dinner.
Watched a few episodes. While I did I worked on my mother's valentine's day gift which I actually think is turning out pretty well! And sorted the games out. Lots of sports games, sadly.
I'm to the last Battlestar disk, the movie, and "razor." Maybe I'll get it finished this week?
Sun:
My goodness, what a day. It wasn't as bad as it could have been, mind you.
First one was no problem. Got his printer working by unplugging it, took out good old webroot which activated the free antivirus he should have been using all along.
Then over to set up the replacement PC. Got everything he wanted on it, and put his HD from the old machine into it, so that went fine.
Home for lunch, and here we start to run into problems. The guy singing and whistling up a storm in the next room was NOT conducive to trying to concentrate on his stupid PC, that he made worse in his flailing around trying to make it better. It just wouldn't boot. The little swirly thing would appear and then hang. Even tried a restore, both to 8 and 8.1 which his machine seemed to have for some bizarre reason. No help. Tried just reloading 10 directly, and shove everything out of the way. Oh, no, the disk is formatted GDI or some crap. Uh, it's running 10 now, you stupid thing, obviously whatever you're complaining about is moot.
So I took it with me.
Next was a cleanout, and her machine was acting up. Screen going black for some reason. I removed the video driver because windows! and that seemed to do the trick. Whatever. Also took her MacBook Pro running 10.4 so I could upgrade it as far as it could go so she could use it with her old iPod Touch.
I had one of those. Sigh.
Then finally setting up the router. Got her machines onto it, backed her stuff up.
Finally back at 6:00, did a test on the PC, put a different HD into it and installed windows 10 onto that, just to make sure it wasn't some weird issue with the SATA ports or RAM or something. No, it just slid right in there. Started the Mac upgrade too.
Wiped the pc HD, started the reload.
Made some calls, watched the rest of Battlestar so that series is finally done. Just have "razor" and the movie to go. Interesting show.
Was up a bit too late.
Mon:
Didn't seem to hurt me.
Got up, no snow, 50s today, even a little sun? Yes please.
Got though all of print from dropbox, didn't find too much new actually. Still a lot of stuff broken though. Maybe I'll do scan tomorrow? The people still doing 3.2 had some fun over the weekend, as the new server stuff they're doing broke, uh, everything. But they worked it out in the end I guess. So it's off to Staples maybe? Don't really know.
After work job was pretty quick. "Yeah, your printer's wireless doesn't seem to work anymore. See ya."
Came back here, finished up looking over the PC, it seems fine with the original HD. Got the password for the Mac, continued that upgrade.
Only a few calls, one of which was someone I hadn't reached for days. Another want to replace their modem. Called PC guy, wanted to see if his wife wanted to be there, "oh, she'll be back any second," nope. Waited half an hour and made my other calls. You lost you spot tomorrow. Sorry, I tried.
Tues:
Writing this the day after because I was finishing up the Battlestar movie and didn't get time to write anything.
Let's see, started Scan to dropbox, got maybe half way through.
After work job was sort of disappointing, more for her than me. Both her machines developed the "I'm not letting you log in" problem windows sometimes has where you have to go into the registry and mess about. Well, of course her husband took them into work and that really was the wrong thing to do. She lost most everything on them, for some reason. I couldn't find most of her stuff, so nice job there.
But she can log in again!
And then the movie, finishing the Battlestar series once and for all.
Wed:
I'm not saying I wrote five of the nine bugs that were submitted today, but I wrote five of the nine bugs.
Got through scan to dropbox. A few new things written up, nothing too major though. Screens changed a little, the reset button not working on the new screen, that sort of thing.
As my after job work canceled on me, I called my thursday appointment and she was around, so I went over there. Basically just picking my own monitor back up (after more than a year, should have charged you a rental fee) and taking her trash away. Ah well.
Got home, did this, checked my sites, ordered a small clock I can stick on the printer when I'm recording, so I can capture the time something happened for the logging.
Oh, here's a hilarious group of words I saw today. See if you can figure out why:
"I tried to reproduce along with Robert but the same is not reproducible.
Same considering it has been fixed. Please verify the same and close the same and can reopen if again same will occur in future."
This is a person that WRITES SOFTWARE. Really! And then we wonder why it's so terrible. Well, some of us don't. Because we know why. What is this person's obsession with the word "same?"
Watched Legion and got mom's valentine's day gift done.
Finally giving the PC back tomorrow, not much work for the weekend, maybe I'll have the time and gumption to do my paperwork sometime soon.
Thurs:
We were supposed to get a new 4.0 build at last, but it was pretty broken we found out, so nope!
Testing against scan to google began, got about half way through as usual. No real issues, though it's somewhat slow to start a scan sometimes. Odd.
Dropped off the pc after work, and then as I was near, the battery and CD I had made. Done! Home by 6:00? Madness.
Checked my websites, petted a kitty. Got four phone calls today, so Saturday is pretty much booked up. No word on Sean's house yet. Nothing for Sunday, but I doubt that'll last.
So tomorrow, more testing obviously, maybe on the new build? We'll see if they've worked it out yet. Then shopping, inks in to staples, and seeing my parents.
Made my calls, now I'm going to watch Priest, the #2 movie on the "fallen angel movie collection" Sean gave me.
Then it'll probably be time for bed.
As always, join me this time next week to see how things went, and I hope your team wins this week, or whatever?
