Fri:
So, got to the right place at the right time this morning. I have to go back though. For starters I didn't even see their major problem, which was described as some sort of visual artifacts on the screen (they didn't say that, are you kidding??) but their trackpad buttons don't work so I have to order the whole top part of the machine to replace them.
Came back, ate lunch, went out to my 1:00. Set up some email filters, showed him how to do it (tediously, very tediously. The man couldn't remember actions he had performed less than a minute ago, nor reason out what his next step should be. Despite going over it four times) and did a few other things.
Back here, more anime, out to see my parents who were not in evidence. I petted their kitties instead.
And back again. The final "set" of anime stuff to watch is the entire Fate series, consisting of 88 episodes.
Funny explosion noises outside, are aliens attacking?
Sat:
Found a somewhat serious scoring bug related to 2 card pairs which turned out to be easy to fix, just not to find. But I did. I found it because in the challenge mode I was going for 350 points but could only get it moving the cards in a certain order, rather that just getting them together. "That's odd," I thought to myself. "And somewhat alarming, perhaps?"
The original code didn't have that bug, so I looked it over and figured out what I had done wrong. Basically I only added the score when moving a card of the 2 pair, rather than at every scoring loop. Whoops. So I fixed that not long before I had to leave for my 12:00.
The first 3 challenges are done, though.
Did my 12:00. Haven't done a standard "cleanout" in some time. But that's what I did. She had some crap in there, not much though. Petted her two cute dogs.
Came back, did the graphics I needed for the challenge board, made some code corrections to that like saving the list on mobile and giving a congratulations message when you complete all challenges.
With that it was 4:15 and I had to leave at 5:45. So I did. Had a nice dinner at my sister's house and watched fireworks afterwords. Pretty cool out for July, we all had coats and such on. Weird.
Sun:
Finally did some writing. Got through the interview and to the next battle, so chapter 151 is done.
Mowed the back lawn, the mower performed perfectly. So I guess it was the packed mass of dirt in the air intake that was causing my problem. Hazaa!
Not many calls over the weekend, and I didn't reach two people anyway. Just have one job tomorrow at the moment, a windows 8 machine stuck at boot with a mouse cursor and not much else. Should be… fun?
Worked on the three opponents for Susan/Sparkle to next fight. Three Tenma members and a fake venus created by the dark kingdom to further tarnish the scout's reputation.
Getting warmer!
Mon:
Today was somewhat terrible.
Did the shopping, that at least went normally. Found a 64GB flash drive at staples for $50. Using my $20 ink rewards would result in a price of $30. $7 more than the cost of the drive I just ordered on newegg. Silly staples.
Ate lunch, went out to my 1:00.
Oh my goodness windows 8 is terrible in so many ways. It's SO slow do to anything. Two separate machines have two completely different ways of screwing up Windows Update. Machine 1 downloads them, installs them, then decides it "didn't work" and undoes them. Really? Moving files from point A to point B didn't work? Really? Of course all this takes 45 minutes or so to go through. (An 8 core machine??)
Machine #2 shows a bunch of updates to do, then when you click to do them it seems to do them, but then says they weren't needed after all. Cycle repeats.
Apparently there's six different "troubleshooters" and COMMAND LINE tools you can run when windows update screws itself but of course they all take forever to run… and didn't work. So I got there at 1:00 and I left about 6:00. Fun! At least I got a small tub of ice cream. At least her laptop boots now.
Oh, and the "fix" was to just turn windows update off so it stops bugging her about them. Some "solution." But after FIVE HOURS I really didn't care anymore.
I got one call today, something about netflix again for a customer I saw last week or so. So that's my only job tomorrow.
I did pick more berries. Replaced the ones I used for the pie, and found more besides. Didn't even get the ones on the side, I'll get them tomorrow. They are ripening FAST. And they're pretty big for the most part, all that rain was good for something. Stupid bushes that didn't have any! I could have had even more sweet goodness. (so greedy.)
Talked some people through some stuff and ordered an SSD for a lady, so that's tonight.
Finally warming up, I suppose that's a plus for today.
Wrote more than half of chapter 152, having some fun kicking Susan's butt with the three fake Sailor Scouts.
Tues:
Worked on finishing chapter 152, and did, though it took all morning and part of the afternoon. Combats are always long to write, and I was making up (and writing up) some techniques and rule changes too.
Picked more berries, like a lot more. I have 2 bags full of them in the freezer now ready for pie making, and enough to make another pie still in in the refrigerator. And that's still not all of them.
Hot today but then it rained a bit. Cooled things right down.
Went to my 5:00. I think their router was acting up. When I replaced it things got better, so that's a good sign.
Also helped someone over the phone and she said she would send me a check. Which is good, because I have nothing planned for tomorrow. GURR.
Did my paperwork for last month, I'm within 10 dollars of last month. Huh.
Wed:
Cold today. Like really cold. Got a call at 5:30 in the morning. Like, really, it couldn't have waited, I don't know, four hours? Really?
Did writing for the morning, got most of the next chapter done.
Called some people to see if I could go there. I made an appointment for tomorrow and didn't reach two.
One called back, I went over there. Her router was unplugged. I moved it closer to her computer. I also set up a new TV as she smashed hers moving it. Did a regular tuneup, so all that took a bit longer than I expected, but that was fine.
Back here I finished chapter 153. Going to shift perspective a bit, mix things up a little. I passed 500,000 words some time ago, apparently, I've not looked in some time. 534,774 words. That means Susan's adventures now total 1,058,430 words. Part two is now 11,118 words longer and still going. Whew. If only I could get paid for all this…
I should be very busy tomorrow, I have four places to go.
Been watching a very informative Let's Play on Dark Souls. He talks about the lore and such, just as the other one I'm watching talks about the graphics engine and technical aspects. Very different play styles and paths taken, but both are worthwhile.
Thurs:
The morning I spent fast forwarding through the rest of Sailor Moon and comparing it to the novels just to see if there were any important events I wanted to cover. I think my story from this mid point is going to work somewhat differently.
Still cold and rainy by the way.
Then I began with the work.
Set up the new keyboard for the guy. Didn't even try, it wasn't even out of the package. He said the trouble was the numbers not working sometimes? He gave it to me, I'm going to see what the actual issue is, see if I want to do anything with it. It's a solar powered wireless one, so it could be interesting.
Then way back past home to see about Vista's crappy backup and why ACT! was being balky. I think I got both problems solved.
Back past home again to just of 390N, someone had turned their wireless off, gee wonder if that's why you couldn't pick it up anymore? Could be, could be.
Then finally further west to replace the top of the laptop. That was odd, mostly because they didn't include the cables, and one screw had been physically sawn off where the power button was. Oh, and they didn't include the power button either. So I had to glue and tape the old power button down. Thanks, thanks a whole bunch.
That took until 6:00, got home around 6:30 and ate dinner.
Two calls today, reached one person, someone down the street from where I used to live.
Weekend plans; One job Saturday, and something at Sean's house. He doesn't know if Stan/Sean are coming yet, soooooo who knows. The future me does, certainly. Why can't I tap into that knowledge? I mean it's still me, right? Stupid linear time.
Might have the rest of the chapters planned out, or at least the general idea, and do some writing Sunday. Or playing video games, or who knows. I still have the Fate Anime stuff to watch.
Also this keyword seems to work fine. Weird.
See you next week.
