Finished chapter 115.
Then went out for my afternoon fun. Which really wasn't so bad. First was setting up two identical printers for a lady. Why she needs two of the same printer… when there were already four? other printers in the house… is beyond me.
Her main trouble was that the CD printing software couldn't distinguish between them! So if she wants to use the "other" one she has to open the two queues and drag the job from the one to the other.
Next up was the lady with the tiny hard drive. We got a bunch of stuff off her machine, and I recommended an SD card to supplement her storage. Also got her printer on the network correctly and printing.
Stopped at the lawyers office, but he wasn't there. Talked to the paralegal and assured her everything was fine. Because it was.
Then over to see my parents. Saw kitties instead. They came home with Jenny and so I saw them.
My father told me about an xbox he saw at the goodwill, so I went over to see if it was still there. Got it for half the sticker price of $30.00, so score! I finally have an original xbox. (I can't call it an Xbox one, thanks, MS)
Trouble is I can't see if it works because it came with no AV cable! I ordered one on ebay for $4.00.
Also stopped at Staples and saved $7.00 buying the next router I'll sell to someone, as I sold the one I had a few days ago.
And came back here. Boom.
Trying to get up to level 40 in borderlands, see if I can't beat that boss who is giving me trouble with some better weapons and shields.
Sat:
More borderlands.
Went to Sean's, saw Dave who brought a person I'm assuming is his girlfriend, and we played an 80s like throwback to a space shooter… board game. It worked. Except for all the times we weren't doing things by the rules. But apart from that, it worked. Also did mario kart and Sean gave me his blueray player.
Sun:
Checked out the blueray player, it still works after taking a tumble down some stairs. (This happened before I got it, not after.)
Beat that boss, but it was more about finding a place to hide and being smart than using my fancy weapons and being three levels higher than he was. Will that work for the True Vault Hunter play though? I guess we'll find out.
Started watching Ink to make sure the player worked because I have no blueray disks so then I finished that.
A few calls over the weekend, I have a busy day tomorrow. Including taking Squeaker in to be checked out.
Hope it's the start of a good week.
Mon:
Today was mostly a bust. It started fine, doing the shopping as normal. Bought crunchy cat food as we were getting low, and saw all the cute kitties (and girls that worked there.) Seriously, why are there only girls working there, it's weird? And here's another weird thing; our "homeless" population that has popped up in recent years standing around intersections is back. Saw two on opposite corners so it seems to be getting worse? The point is, why are they all young-ish guys? Why not older men? Why not women? Why just that single demographic? Not sure it makes sense to me.
Anyway, back to me.
My first one was at 12:00, waited until 12:30, didn't show. I thought to myself, "self, you knew you should have checked your messages as you had intended before being distracted by that squirrel or whatever because maybe you wouldn't be sitting out here in the blistering rather nice actually and could have been… well, we all know what you would be doing." But even when I got home, there was no "I'll be late" or "I have to cancel" or even "Sorry I missed you." So take that, me! Yeah, that makes sense, right.
Went to my 2:30 then, who wanted something scanned in and filled out because "he can't write that small" and cataracts in his eyes. So I just filled the form out for him, because it was like four lines. Yup, all that schooling really came in handy. Got back at 1:30.
Came back home. Called 12:00 lady, still no answer.
So I tried getting a secret boss in borderlands, but he and his minions were level 50, where I was level 40. Whoops. I wasn't doing too badly against them, running far away on a vehicle and then sniping them over and over back and forth across the level, but the game decided to hang as I was doing that. Thanks.
Lady called at 2:30 saying she was stupid. I can't disagree.
Waited until 3:30 when I took Squeaker in to the vet.
That was fine, no problems but teeth, again. We did cleaned them a year ago, and it's pretty expensive. Sigh. He doesn't know how good he has it.
Then over to the dentist guy, who as always had bizarre crap for me to do. Like trying to sync google calendars and outlook, which of course wasn't made to do that. Finally got home at 8:30. (I left here at 5:15.)
Made a few phone calls, rescheduled my 12:00 for 1:00 tomorrow and I had a job I put on Sunday tomorrow so I have two. Let's hope they work out better than today did.
Tues:
Somewhat better. Windy and somewhat cold though.
Just the two jobs, both cleaning machines out, which I did. The morning one had two, just standard stuff really though his newer machine I got him ran mbam in about ten minutes while the older one I sold him years ago took about a half hour.
Dropped off the laptop battery I had ordered a few weeks ago on the way home. Just haven't gotten over there until now.
Then in the afternoon the missed one from yesterday with the three barky dogs. She has a windows.old folder full of GB worth of stuff I could probably get rid of, but didn't want to chance it. I did what I could, and it's a quad-core machine so really it shouldn't be slow ever. But it's a Vista PC so…
Wrote chapter 116.
And played borderlands.
Wed:
One job in the morning, and it was pretty long. That was one infected machine, let me tell you. Also saved another person from paying (one might say over paying) Frontier. Understand, this was on a machine I had previously worked on and put a free antivirus on.
What thought process do you go through to think to yourself "I think I'll take off this free product and in its place put this other thing that's REALLY REALLY BAD and in addition, pay monthly for it." How does that thought even enter a person's brain? I'd really like to know.
Anyway, took dozens of pieces of crap off her machine, let mbam chew it up awhile (about an hour, it was a win8 machine but only 1.5Ghz… you know, the same speed we had 10-15 years ago. Yipes. This partly happened because her norton (thanks norton) expired (145 days ago) and rather than it automatically be taken off and the built in one applied, it just sat there and let everything that wanted to come on the machine into the machine. Good job protecting your customers norton/MS.
That took a bit more than two hours, so I came home and had lunch.
Pretty much everything after that was… borderlands. Went up a few levels.
Thurs:
Woke up during the night and looked outside. It was clear and I could see the stars. Foolishly I believed that perhaps I might see some sun the next day.
But then upon awakening once again I saw the WORST… POSSIBLE… THING!
That zombies had risen? No.
That I had been abducted by aliens and even now they were cutting me apart for their bizarre experiments? No.
That millions of ants had invaded the house and were roasting my cats to later eat them? No.
Snow. It was snowing. There's exactly one week in April left, and it was snowing. Not just that, it was accumulating. But it didn't last, and it's gone now so that goodness for that.
Anyway, went out to see the guy on El Mar and panda was apparently flipping out, using 99% of his CPU so he couldn't really do anything. So much for multi-tasking, eh? Ugh, guy still has CRT monitors, that's not something you see every day. Reloaded panda and signed him up for dropbox to back his stuff up. Not sure about that guy. I mean he always claimed to be a mechanic but now somehow he has 16 degrees and top secret government clearance? Sure buddy, sure. Whatever you say. Oh, and he could "fix the hard drive" so either he doesn't know he needs a clean room to even open one or he has a clean room, I didn't really care to ask which it was.
Back here I ate lunch, continued watching Dragon Ball Z abridged from where I left off last night, and the replacement PC came for the dead one from last week, so I popped the HD into that and made sure it was running okay.
Got my xbox cable, hooked that up to the little TV a customer gave me, and for a wonder it worked. I did however realize why they gave it to me to recycle. The sound doesn't work all that well. On the TV mode it'll cut in and out, but as far as the Xbox went it didn't play any sound at all. Oh well, it serves the purpose I gave it.
Put the xbox down in my collection, and the other systems eagerly greeted their new companion.
Worked on chapter 117.
Then after dinner I finished it.
Not many calls, again, but I do have two tomorrow. Returning the system and Boris, I forget what he wanted, he called me several days ago. Oh well. They're not far from each other, so I'm doing them one right after the other.
Then I'll go see my parents, next week is my mother's surgery, hopefully she's home on the first. Whoops, or not, as she's going to be in the hospital waiting for her sister to be out of a six hour surgery. Heart surgery. Hasn't been a great year for the family, let me tell you.
Nothing for Saturday, again nothing about game at this point.
Hope you have a good weekend, if you can.
