Fri:
Not much to report. The "play civ V on hardest difficulty" test went though, and showed exactly how overpowered that race are. I won without even trying. A couple of military units roaming my lands and everyone was super polite to me and no one questioned anything I did. Of course that doesn't work in real life…
Went to my one job at 4:00. My goodness those people must smoke up a storm. Their machine is always filthy. I cleaned it up, set up their new printer, and they gave me their old tiny TV, which has all kinds of ports on it and still works great. Thanks, I guess?
Over to see my parents. My mother is starting to get hit with the radiation side effects. Hang in there, mom.
Finished up chapter 107 (finally) and watched a bit of anime until…
Sat:
Finished chapter 108! Read some of the early stuff too for some reason.
Then tried Halo on the hardest setting, yes the original halo.
Then some borderlands with the crew.
Sun:
Wanted to play Mass Effect again, figured out the "new game plus" so I could carry over my old character. Sadly I don't get to choose to make him a biotic this way like I wanted. Oh well, shooting stuff for the win.
Got a few calls but not much work so far this week.
Mon:
Did two of the three calls in the morning. I was going to do one, then shopping, then back, but I realized I was already half way there, so I continued.
The first guy had "hidden" a disk image behind the dock by not dragging it to the trash properly. Sigh.
Then the next one was out to York, where they somehow messed up the location of the peachtree file so it gave a weird error when it opened. Figured that out. Also their printer is busted. Couldn't do much about that.
Then did the shopping.
Back here, lunch, had a call from the mortgage place. They wanted a new machine set up. So I went over there.
The thing that took the longest was the stupid network scanning thing, as usual. Apparently you have to hit save in two areas or it doesn't work right. Aarg! Took me two hours to figure that out. Made a note about it.
Got home and she had called me, now her machine wouldn't scan. I'm being punished for something, aren't I?
The machine next to hers still worked, so she scanned what she needed to there and got it off. Sigh.
Ate dinner and went out to my 6:00 (yes, remember two hours?) for a machine that wasn't booting right.
The memory test and HD test revealed nothing, so I ran chkdsk and it fixed a few things. (After taking way too long.)
The machine then booted, but man oh man was it sluggish. Took fifty minutes to run a malwarebytes scan, which is painful enough when it only takes ten minutes on a machine that has a decent hard drive. At least I think that's the bulk of the problem. It's a 5400rpm HD and the reviews of it on newegg aren't that great. I suggested an SSD.
Back at home, the lady with the "due tonight" son's english paper called twice more, turns out everything was fine. Only other one was York again, something about a backup. But their machine already does a backup every few days. Whatever. So two places to go tomorrow. Back to the mortgage place to see about that one machine now not scanning, and an actual job at 3:00.
And then got to play mass effect more, yay! Lost a ton of progress because some blue lady killed me. Boo! Honestly, it's supposed to auto save a bit, yet? I lost over an hour of "work." Oh well.
Tues:
Mostly playing mass effect, got back to where I was mostly by whizzing by the ground forces outside the place and rushing through back to where I was.
Did go two places. First to the mortgage place at 2:00. Just put in her password again into the form, hit save (twice) and boom, it was fine.
Then at three over to see about the weird iPad/Gmail issue. Took some messing about but I did get it all set in the end. Or so I thought.
Got to play Borderlands in the evening, which was a surprise.
Wed:
Out in the morning to go back to the iPad/Gmail place. Mostly that was fine, she just had some follow up questions. One minor mystery, her message count for the inbox on Mac Mail was different from the message count on gmail.com. I moved all the messages into a another folder and the count was equal. Moved them back, unequal again. How the heck are they counting things in the inbox? Strange…
Then over to a cleanout. She was getting ~2.5mb/sec before I unplugged her modem. Then she was getting ~20. Sheesh. Messed about with her camera card, that was fine. The MSL website wasn't working, but then we got it to work after waiting a little while.
Back here, ate lunch, now to wait until my 7:00 (ugh) cleanout.
But wait, he got home early so I went out there at 6:00. Didn't take too long, just the standard amount of cleaning.
Got back here, got ready to make my zero phone calls and play Borderlands. Which I could have started early but my phone wasn't beeping that I had gotten text messages. Sigh. Sorry bout that, everyone.
Thurs:
Went to my one and only job, a BSOD or so I thought. Nope, her hard drive is dead. Took the system home and ordered a new one.
Rained for a while, then started really freaking snowing. What a wonderful spring this has been so far! Seriously, there were huge flakes coming down for some time. Huuuuge.
Won Mass Effect.
Snow stopped.
Sorry, today was pretty boring. Read over chapter 108 and added a bit.
No calls today? Where did everyone go? I know they're not off working in the yard.
I did get back to someone that email me yesterday, she wanted saturday morning, so nothing for tomorrow? Guess I'll get back to writing, having finished the game I wanted to replay.
Got a call while playing borderlands with the crew. Someone I just did work for, he was going on about something being messed up. So I'm going over there tomorrow morning.
We won borderlands.
And we're doing Stan's game this weekend. Seeing my parent's tomorrow, as usual, and that will take us into Sunday.
March is almost gone, folks, even if it doesn't seem like it. Make the most of it, and I'll see you next week.
