2015-02-12:
Fri:
Some small misfortunes happened today.
The morning one went fine, cleaned her machine up, took care of her other issues.
Went to my 11:00 (a bit late) and knocked because her doorbell doesn't work. Didn't have her number with me because I was just putting in the card reader I had ordered so why would I need it, right? Wrong. She was there, but didn't hear it.
Some I came back here, called her, and said I would go later in the day.
Ate lunch, checked my websites.
Back out to go put in the card reader. Then to pick up my $14. Knocked. Rang the bell. No answer.
Sigh.
Came back here. Realized I bought plain fabric softener instead of detergent last time at the store. Why is that even a thing? Why isn't there a warning- "Warning, you are a man and you just bought fabric softener."
Finished TWO chapters, 90 and 91. Because I have no life, so I'm going to make the most of it, darn it!
Wait…
Sat:
Finished chapter 92.
Then watched a bunch of stuff. The Gamers 3, that I didn't even know existed. Latest Log Horizon and Constantine.
Played some Boderlands with the gang at night.
Guess that counts as a good day.
Sun:
Finished up the gift for Mom, it came out as well as anything I do does. Yeah. At least it didn't take me very long, as expected. Finished it right up no problems.
Looked over my websites. Got caught up rearranging The Gamer.
Pretty heavy snow started coming down about 2:00.
Worked on chapter 93.
Finished chapter 93. It was close, very close. The Darkness almost did something Susan would have been infuriated over, but cards saved the day. Good chapter.
Finished chapter 94.
Mon:
Had to plow out the driveway in the morning, it snowed a bit… really all day yesterday and into today. Snowed off and on today as well.
Did the shopping as normal. Pretty quiet, many choosing not to brave the weather.
Then did my one job. Turns out his power supply was dead, and of course I just sold the one I had last week. Have to start ordering two, then replace it when I use it so I have a spare. Odd how I change so many of those.
Roads weren't too bad, but still not great.
Finished chapter 95. I'm splitting Susan and Sparkle up, so we get to see things from Sparkle's point of view for a little while. Should be fun, she was nice to write for. I'll go back and forth until they meet up again.
Finished chapter 96. Huh, maybe I have a problem.
This world is just a joy to write for, honestly. Four chapters in two days? Sheesh. And it's only 10:15, I could start chapter 97. But I won't. I think. It's just been writing itself, honestly, I didn't think I would get this far but it's just flowing. Ah well, enough back patting.
Tues:
Both jobs today ran pretty long, mostly because of spinning rust.
Number one had problems, there's no doubt about that. I ran the usual scans, mbam I had to run twice because I unfortunately forgot it was running and rebooted the machine. When you minimize it you just get a tiny icon by the clock rather that a standard icon in the task area. This is because standards are for losers, and they should not be followed in any circumstance.
So on the second run it took forty five minutes. And this wasn't that old a machine, either. I tried to figure out what kind of hard drive it had, but it gave me two part numbers… from two different manufacturers. Uh, no? One was a 7200RPM drive with a lot of cache while the other was a 5200RPM drive with like 2mb I think it was. Guess which one I believe it to be?
Very quick lunch, then to my 1:00. Again, mbam just dragged and dragged, and that was after I cleaned out what I could from the folders in command prompt mode. Just booting it in safe with networking caused it to blue screen. 500+ malicious items, another 200+ potential it found in the end, after about 30 minutes. So two hours there, as well.
Cloudy, but no new snow.
Somehow got two of the little phone book things delivered. Picked up the first, left again, when I got back another had appeared. Huh?
Several calls today, so it should be pretty busy tomorrow.
Finished chapter 97.
Wed:
Somewhat non-standard day, but I got through it.
Ate really early, and left for my 11:00. This was updating flash for someone, and answering a few other questions.
Not far away was Ethan Allen, checking a rather sad iMac that had been turned into a windows 7 machine for some bizarre reason. It didn't have an antivirus but mbam didn't find anything, to my surprise. But I did what it needed and gave them some ideas about what their problems could be.
Then at 2:30 to a laptop he said wouldn't boot in normal mode. It would boot in safe, so I did, and cleaned out out normally. The fan was running pretty loud, but it worked. It booted three times normally, so that was that.
Back here I worked on chapter 98, and introduced Jenny Everywhere quite by accident. I named some random NPC that was supposed to be watching Susan Jennifer, then remembered Jenny. It all fell out from there. Finished it.
Might do game this Saturday!
Four appointments tomorrow, so that should keep me busy. One is just putting the power supply in that I got today, so no big deal.
Thurs:
Bit of snow last night, it's really piling up around here. Snowed today on and off as well.
Went to my 11:00, she was totally infected. This is the lady I last worked for when I lost my pen, I changed her RAM a week or so ago. How did she get all that crap in there so quickly? She did use AOL, which I'm sure didn't help.
Anyway, got everything removed.
Back here to eat lunch, then out to my 1:00. Reseated her wireless adapter, and the on/off it was doing stopped. Also looked at her printer, the heads are totally clogged now, I suggested a laser. She's going to get one tonight and I'm going back to put it in tomorrow.
Then to install the power supply, which went fine.
Back here, more thinking about what I want to put Susan through on this current world.
Ate dinner, then out for my 5:30.
It was an odd situation, it was on, but the little "i'm busy" cursor would keep flashing up. I rebooted in safe mode (win8, ugh) and ran the usual scans. The machine was pretty new, I was impressed by how quick it finished. Then it was fine. Who knows.
Started snowing pretty bad on the way back. Cold, like 6 degrees. Going down to one degree, and very high winds tonight. Great.
Let's see, not many jobs tomorrow. The abacus place says their machine is hanging, that one I looked at before.
Then at 1:00 back to set up the printer.
That's about it. Seeing my parents later.
No reply from Sean/Stan about game, so I don't know.
Going to work on more plot skeleton for the current world, get that set. Stay warm and I'll see you all next week.
