2015-01-01:

Fri:
Took my christmas decorations down, see you all in eleven months!

Went over to Staples, saved $14 with a coupon I had gotten that morning on a router and a new appointment book. Then got another $40 off from my ink returns. Woohoo.

Went to the one job from xmas day. He didn't actually need my help at all, his machine was fine. But whatever.

Came back here, watched the end of Korra.

Finished chapter 69.

Saw how sunny, yes sunny it was outside, decided to take my christmas lights down. Good day for it.
Got them packed away just fine.

Made an appointment for tomorrow, and we're doing game so we'll see how that goes.

Sat:
Did my morning job, straightening out a few things, his other machine didn't need cleaning, he needed a new machine. It was originally an XP machine trying to run Win7 with only 1.5 GB of RAM and a 40GB HD. Sheesh.

Nothing too exciting to report until leaving for game. I got dinner for everyone, then went over to Sean's. We got most of the way through that world, it went pretty well.

Sun:
Straightened up around here. Watched the first few episodes of some stuff Sean gave me.

Okay, I lied, I watched all of Symphogear.

Had no calls today, but overall a bunch over the weekend. Tomorrow is going to be pretty hectic, five places to go, so I hope to by home by 7:00.

At least it's work, right?

Ordered an SSD for a guy. Apparently newegg and shop runner aren't partners anymore, thanks for the heads up there newegg. Oh right, YOU SAID NOTHING. I had to do a google search about it, and that led me to a forum post about the issue. I canceled my shop runner account, and I just paid for that thing too. Seesh. Oh well, wonder how I'll get that money back, I only used that credit card for them, because they wouldn't accept my debt card. You may recall this from years ago, when I complained about it. Just paid that bill too, so… yeah.

Mon:
Busy, as anticipated, and a bit of snow, too. It was coming down pretty hard but it didn't really accumulate.

Shopping as normal. Made my final IRA contribution for this year.

Then, jobs. Went over various simple things first off. Some people would just keep you forever, you know? Didn't leave (got there at 12:30) until minutes before my 3:00, which I was slightly late to. And just the most simple of stuff, too. Like copy/paste. Really?
At least she was happy with the CDs.

Next one was another low RAM machine, and she was using AOL 9.0 VR (*gagging noises*) I at least updated her to the "latest" AOL and put a little more memory in the machine, hopefully that will make it a little more usable for her.

5:00 went fine, just going through how to update flash and a few minor phone questions.

And then the 6:00, which was the power supply, so I swapped that out.

Back home, had about fifteen minutes to eat before 7:00, and made my large number of phone calls. No really. Booked a bunch for both tomorrow and Wednesday already. Which is good, right?

Watching more Sword Art Online 2. And by more I mean all of. Much better than I expected. Bit sad too, curse it!

Tues:
The two morning ones were quite quick.
The first one was just taking care of some minor stuff, hardly worth the effort to get over there.

Oh yeah, it snowed in the night. Like, a lot. Like there was no snow when I went to bed, and then there was tons of it. Yuck. A white new years? Who ever wanted one of those?

And then the second job was just him using an old url in the address bar to try and get to his juno mail. Wow, still dial up holdouts, how about that? Anyway, updated some stuff for him with what I had on hand. I haven't updated my flash drive in months, because it's just so easy to download stuff on the fly now. Not so much with dial up.

Anyway, took care of that and came back here for lunch.

Next one wasn't until 3:00 so I had some time, I worked on something completely different. I did some writing. About half of chapter 70.

The afternoon two were a bit longer. #1 had the "invisible virus" that all the cool kids are contracting now, it seems. Almost going to have to check for that first thing now, I guess. No other infections, but I did update what he had and such.

The last one was the longest (and why it was last) A new laptop setup. I hate moving files around on PCs, honestly. It was giving me gruff about "permissions" which usually work when you go to change them. Not this time, it kept giving me an error ON EVERY FILE. Uh, no?

So I routed it through my Mac, copied the folders onto his external storage, then moved the files from the external storage to the HD.
I mean seriously, MS, have you every tried actually doing ANYTHING on your systems? Because it doesn't seem like it. Everything you try to do either takes way longer than it should, or just flat out doesn't work, or you have to jump though all these hoops… it's insane.

So cold out. Hold me.
Oh, I have a kitty.

Wrote more than usual for a single chapter, 3,495 words fighting a demon. Not sure if I should start the next chapter or what. Guess I'll keep running the fight and see how it goes. I can always break it up if it goes much longer.

Wed:
First one was no job at all. He had two problems, the second probably created when he flailed about trying to fix the first. Which was a loose power cable. That's it. But yet he was unable to apply anything he knows from his 70-80 years of life to solving this issue? Really?
His second problem was that he switched his monitor from digital to analog input. That one I can give a pass for, the monitor should have switched back by itself when it detected signal on that bus.

Came back here, viewed my websites while I waited for the dental appointment time.

The dental thing went fine, what he was doing hurt a bit, but I said it was fine and didn't take the Novocain. Better a few moments of pain than hours of numbness, right?

Came back here, finished chapter 70 and left for my 2:00.

Tooth is somewhat sore, that didn't happen before. Oh well, it's only pain.

The 2:00 was a rather odd wireless problem. The printer wouldn't connect, and I tried all different things to make it so. Then I tried changing the password, and it connected right away. So I changed it back to the old one, and again it connected without further complaint. Very weird.

The next one was also somewhat of a relief/letdown. It was the guy with the two little girls I had such problem selling a machine to. He said the monitor wasn't turning on, and insisted he checked the cable.
And for the second time today, I pushed a power cable into a socket and oh look, it turned on just fine. How astonishing.
His other problem was with his USB ports on the other machine, which were turned off for some reason. I hate turning things on like that, as there is usually a reason they are off. It seemed to work though…

Then the last one was setting up a new laptop, which went fine.

Came back here by 6:30, ate, then made a couple of calls. No one wanted tomorrow for some reason, so it looks like I have it off. Wonder what I'll do. Oh wait, maybe writing?

Friday is booked though, so that's this week. Very good week, let's keep those coming, shall we?

Another 3,224 words and chapter 71 done! The demon was defeated, Illina is okay, and Susan knows she's a warlock.
Muhahaha!

Thurs:
Did all my paperwork, got ready to do taxes, glorious taxes. Even figured out how to calculate that stupid profit and loss thing so the numbers matched up from last year so they could be right without so much effort this year. Go me.

I have a funny feeling I put waaaaay too much money into the estimated taxes last year, so I'm hoping I won't have to send many payments to them at all this year. Here's hoping.

In better news, the pain in the tooth is all gone, yay!

Watched Orgus, in fact it'll probably be the next world Susan goes to!

And that was Thursday, the day that felt like Sunday, even though it's back to work tomorrow… on Friday. Huh.

Have three jobs for tomorrow, so that's a good start to the new year I think.

Thanks for sticking with me another year. Don't worry, the complaining, whining, and general jerkery is sure to flow just as strongly this year as ever.

And I wouldn't have it any other way. Welcome to 2015 everyone, hope it turns out to be the best one yet.

(Because you only get one before it's 2016 and your chance is lost. Poor soul.)

See you next week.
