2014-08-07:
Fri:
Found some camera lenses I had hanging around, so I put them up on ebay in the morning.
Dropped the PC/Monitor off and they took it, so that went fine.
Then it was 2:00 so I went to see my parents. Remembered the metal this time, so that's out of here.
Back here I listed a few more things on ebay and watched Agency, after all my grandfather gave me these movies 8 months ago now, I should watch them at some point. I think it was from the 70s. There were some transfer errors from whatever tape they used, which I've never seen in a DVD before, and the sound was horrible.
Otherwise it was interesting. All about "subliminal advertising" and "controlling people" which we know now doesn't actually work.
OR DOES IT?
Took more fleas off Tinker.
Then played Last Dream for a bit.
Sat:
And then more today.
Not as many though, so hopefully the war is being won?
Cleaned a bit. Vacuumed the porch for the first time this year. Sheesh, that was bad.
Did some writing. Got that chapter done and the next one. They got to Heaven and now they have to find the guys that went through and convince them to leave. Easier said than done, perhaps.
Tried to call someone back having trouble with upgrading to 10.9 but didn't reach them.
Actually got a few calls today.
Watched Wanted Babysitter and it was actually decent. The sound was much better than Agency, and the plot was better. It held up better I guess because it wasn't about that awful 70s tech. How about that? (Though when the phones "went out" I couldn't help but shout at her "just use your cell phone! Oh wait." :-)
Then did some more Last Dream.
Sun:
Totally rocked the area in Last Dream. It's so odd, the game was totally killing me in the early levels. Maybe I was rushing ahead and doing things above my level? But now I kill bosses in a couple of turns.
Found a couple of accessories that I've been giggling about. Two rings, one that raises attack by 50 and one that raises accuracy by that amount. I had given them to by fighter, but slowly came to the realization that my white mage was just doing nothing in 70% of my battles. My fighter didn't need to be stronger, I needed another attacker.
So I gave them both to her, along with the best dagger she could use, and what do you know? She's a half decent fighter now! Oh, she won't be killing any bosses by herself, but a lot of general random encounters are now over in one turn, with them not even getting an action, where before it would have been two turns.
And there's just something about seeing a white mage tearing into a shark or a bug or a demon and doing almost as much damage as my thief. Hits me right here. *points at heart* Every time.
Moved the plot forward, basically just by wandering around the map and checking places I hadn't been. How convenient that every place I went had a shard of crystal, just like I needed.
Otherwise, fleas off cats, vacuumed. Cleaned a little. Made calls. Work for tomorrow!
Mon:
Good thing it wasn't too much work though.
Went shopping as normal. Hardly worth going to the bank, but broccoli has gone from having a cardboard bottom to a plastic bottom and now is packaged inside a resealable bag for my convenience. How nice of them.
Shoot, I wanted to change my oil before it got dark, I forgot all about it. And now it's dark!
Oh well, there's always tomorrow for oil to be changed.
Anyway, after that I got to work. Installing OS X 10.9 onto two machine (Where I thought there would be only one) His HD wasn't journaled, for some bizarre reason. Luckily I could "enable" this feature without reformatting the drive, and 10.9 installed fine.
The other machine had only 1gb of RAM so I even sold them a 2GB stick for that.
He gave me his somewhat old, massively huge, epson inkjet printer. Not sure if it'll even work at this point, haven't tested it.
And I think I've sold him the iMac I had hanging around, to replace his eMac that was in the studio. Hopefully the display holds up, I've loaned it to him at the moment to see if it's okay. It doesn't get the wireless signal where it is though. I was trying to set up a wireless to ethernet adapter but it got to be too late (1:00-4:50 I was there, ugh) so I went to my 5:00 and I'm going back tomorrow.
The 5:00 was a cleanout. One browser hijacker that was a pain to get rid of, everything else fell into place.
A few calls today, so I have a similar amount of work for tomorrow. Let's hope it keeps up.
Tues:
One long job and one short job today. The long one I actually brought home, he bought a laptop with XP which also came with 7 of all things. So I brought that home to reload, which I did for part of the day. His other issues were with a machine not even connected to the Internet he wanted Quicken loaded on and such.
The other was just an odd Firefox toolbar/addon that had somehow taken over the entire firefox window. Like, it was gray all over. I removed it and ran some scans, everything was fine.
Oh, also got the iMac working on the wireless, so let's hope that pans out.
More Last Dream, beat 3/4 super bosses and stole some sweet rings from them. Like I got two rings that boost a bunch of stats by 100, half MP costs, double experience gained and give a slight regeneration! I also got a fantastic sword so the "main" character, the gray mage, does about 3000 damage now up from 1000. And my white mage is doing better than ever. Now to find two more of the things.
Wed:
Returned the laptop to the guy, no problems there.
Looked at the printer the guy gave me. Cleaned it about 6 times. It looks good apart from the two colors that seem to be missing. I ordered some 3rd party ink for it so we'll change the cartridges and see what I get. I hope they aren't totally clogged, though I did see a cleaning kit with tubes and things so I could try that too.
Went to see about a printer at 1:00, which worked perfectly, how about that? In any case it was a new Win8 machine with a terrible, terrible trackpad (the buttons were on the right and left side, huh? Plus the thing hardly responded at all) so I put my usual assortment of useful programs on there.
Changed my oil.
And played more last dream. There's another of those sweet, sweet rings at the bottom of a 50 level dungeon that takes you down to level 1 when you enter. Oh, and all your equipment is gone too, FYI. I'm about at floor 11 thus far, doing fine. Leveled my White Mage's attack/accuracy and gave her a ring I found and she does more damage then my gray mage. Hazza. I also took on Kali, the super hard mega-boss. Stole her ring, and got another copy of it for beating her, from the hunter's guild. That one just raises a bunch of stats by like 200. Thank you kindly.
Have more actual work for tomorrow. Two whole jobs. Knew August would be better.
And game might happen this weekend, though we don't know which one yet.
Thurs:
First job took a bit longer then anticipated, and was quite boring. Mostly because installing 10.9 takes so darn long. I know, a little over an hour is "so long." But it feels that way when you're just sitting there. Anyway, fixed his printer issue, updated, all that jazz.
Came home to eat, thought I would get an hour of Last Dream in… no. Got a call from the guy with the laptop, he had some questions. Which took over an hour.
Making me late for the 2:00. That one went well otherwise, I sold her a keyboard, took her old system away (not the nice monitor, she wants to keep that. I just got the junky XP PC) and answered her other questions.
Then came back to play more Last Dream. Tearing up the Abyss. Got down to floor 44, so there's only 6 more to go. I'm not even raising my stats anymore, nothing can touch me. I'll channel them into my characters when I see what the boss at the end looks like.
Looking to the weekend, decent amount of work for tomorrow. Weird the difference a month makes. Nothing for Saturday.
I guess we've settled on Demongate High for game though, so that should be fine.
Got the resin stuff, probably put some guns together over the weekend too. Get some painting in.
And that should about do it. Much more positive this week, thank goodness.
See you all next week.
