2014-07-24:
Fri:
Major items of interest was buying materials for new projects, and starting a new project, the Pony Yarn Project. I actually bought three boards, so I'll be doing three separate pictures.
Did my one job, the dentist guy who always wants crazy stuff done. Got his crazy stuff done.
Went to see my parents, got felt for the project.
What did I do in the morning? I don't think I did any writing… huh, maybe it'll come to me.
Sat:
Did an actual job! He was stuck in safe mode, actually, I hadn't seen that before. I had to overwrite the boot.ini file to make the changes stick. I couldn't just save the file, it wouldn't let me. I had to save it elsewhere then replace it. Odd. Otherwise just did the standard sorts of things.
Finished the pony yarn picture. I think it came out all right.
Created a new page on the site, to detail all the various projects I've had over the years. That took me quite a while, as there was a lot of pictures to gather, shrink, and explain.
See it at http://www.robertzprojects.com/misc.php
Go ahead, I'll wait.
Then started my next painting, Fluttershy.
Summer is over, those purple flowers I forget the name of have opened. Sorry, "summer" no disrespect intended to those who had record heat. You could have sent some to us.
Sun:
Took most of the morning and into the early afternoon to finish the Fluttershy picture. See it on the link above.
I read the rest of the Susan story, getting all my then-than mistakes sorted out so I didn't have to worry about that anymore.
Traced the READ picture I want to paint next. But do I put up a third one? Is there even room? Should I wait until one or the other sells? So many questions.
A few calls over the weekend, so I actually booked tomorrow for the most part. How about that?
Mon:
The normal shopping routine, as normal. One new thing, cat litter now apparently comes in a box, rather than a plastic carry container. Also my cashier at kmart was cute, but seemed a bit out of it. I thought my charge was way too low, and it turned out she didn't charge me for half of the items. I mean there were only two. I had to go back in and pay for the other. Silly girl.
Otherwise, I ate and dropped the Macbook off at the mortgage place.
Then the bad news began.
The next one was dead-dead. The fan on the heatsink didn't even spin, and that's with a new power supply. Her machine was an ancient 1.3Ghz HP. I told her I would put something together from what I had around here, not knowing I had a 2005 era dell that actually worked great. I didn't think any of my machines (apart from the gaming one) had hard drives, but it did. As she doesn't have the internet it doesn't need an antivirus slowing it down, so it's perfect for her. I'm giving her an LCD monitor too, she can toss that crappy CRT thing finally. Wait, allow me to be more clear. I'm selling her the monitor. But honestly they are not worth much, and I'm not charging her all that much for the set.
So I'll deliver that tomorrow.
The next one had a dead HD. Took the Seagate utility all of five seconds to decide that.
He's going to talk it over with his wife, see if they want to get a new machine. He wanted some photos off the thing, but I don't think that's going to happen.
No bad news on the third one, just setting it up after the lady moved, and her daughter's daughter's laptop needed some cleaning.
Eating berries, they are so yummy.
Hot out, thank you summer.
Actually have a similar amount of work tomorrow. One in the morning, dropping the PC off.
Then a setup and just answering some questions.
I might actually make a reasonable amount this week. But of course the week is just beginning so I'm not holding it to that.
Also going to drop off the two artworks, get them up in the shops hopefully.
I had finished proofing Lonely Divide, so I got that going.
Tues:
Got to do some work, then a bit of extra work I wasn't anticipating.
Delivered the tower at 10:30, that was fine. Got her printer working and she should be happy.
Then at 1:00 setting up the laptop. Her desktop was totally taken over. I cleaned it out at the same time, then she gave it to me when I was done. Le sigh. Gave me back the monitor I sold her, too. So there's that.
Then at three, back near me, just answering some questions and going through how to scan and attach to email.
Painted a bit.
Got stuck on the phone for nearly 2 hours looking into stupid microsoft "volume shadow copy" nonsense. Still don't have it solved but it was 10:00. I took screenshots of the errors in the task manager, we'll see what I come up with.
I hate windows.
Also told someone about installing the hated windows on Mac, so she could buy a Mac like she wanted but still fulfill her stupid collage's requirement about PCs. (for whatever bizarre reason they require them)
Only have one job for tomorrow, sadly. Hope to get painting done and look up error stuff.
Then back to writing.
I did get another half hour of painting done. Probably could have finished it tonight if it hadn't been for the interruption.
Wed:
Well, that went better than I expected.
Only job of the day was a bit more time then I had anticipated, and both insisted on paying me, so that worked out well enough. Also they want 10 more CDs so I had to figure my printer thing out. I ran the test pattern, saw it was printing black instead of yellow so I changed that one, cleaned it again. That made it insist on changing all the cartridges, even though I hear liquid in the black and pink ones still. Sigh. I use more ink cleaning this stupid thing then I do actually printing crap.
But it is working again.
Otherwise, you can check the projects page for the latest painting I finished.
Hey, since I sold a painting before any books, does that make me a painter more then an author, even though I've written 7 books but only done 4 paintings? (one of which was yarn)
Rained pretty hard for a few minutes today.
Sold the last batch of magazines so I got that boxed up and can get the lady her $37. Those fees are killer!
Not many calls, worked on the stupid volume shadow copy thing but didn't really get anywhere. At least it's a different error now, so I'll look that up tomorrow.
Thurs:
Just one job, then a bit of running around. Hooked up her new printer, answered some questions. Stumped as to why some pictures aren't being sent to iCloud and pushed to her other iPad. Gee, wish I could afford two iPads.
Dropped off the money from the Apple stuff being sold.
The dropped off the CDs I made yesterday, but they weren't home so I just left them.
Then the package of the magazines to the post office.
Came back here, ate lunch. That about about 1:00.
Read over the last chapter I had written because I hadn't done that yet.
Picked another whole tupperware of berries for Saturday's pie. Hope to finally finish the Demongate High adventure we started like a month ago now.
A few calls, but nothing major. Of course the durable medical guy left his work number, so I can't reach him.
So again just one in the morning, probably a quick one, relating to a Roku device that maybe needs some port forwarding done?
I'll call the other guy in the afternoon, it's like 45 minutes to get over there, though.
Did more writing finally! Got up to 33,027 words, basically on approach to the next mission. Have to figure out what the place looks like, how many people/demons/kids etc. (Because kids aren't people?) and what they're doing all the way out there.
Guess we'll see.
Destiny Beta came out for a bunch of platforms, but you need Xbox live gold, which I don't have at all now. But then I remembered my (busted) PS3. I could try it on there! Downloaded a bunch of updates, and it's downloading. Hazaa. Sony for the… win? Wait a second.
Anyway, give that a shot sometime.
Otherwise, at least work picked up this week.
Cross you fingers I sell some stuff (books, paintings) this weekend, though it's a stretch, I know.
Have a good weekend, everyone.
